On the subject of mice getting inside the RV, I discovered on our RV the manufacturers cut a 3-in hole for a 3/4-in pipe underneath the RV. RV. Once I went in and cut a piece of plywood to plug that hole I no longer get mice in my RV. So check all the spots where wires or pipes are coming out and see if they are sealed.

We loved this episode! (Well, we love most them!) But this one was really special. I was stationed at YPG (Yuma Proving Grounds) for 2.5 years in the 80s (Yeah, 1980’s). I had a Honda 400XL and a Kawasaki 1000. We also ended up with 2 Honda 3-wheelers that we rode in the Sand Dunes. I was a Huey Crew Chief, and we spent a lot of hours in low level flight in the Kofa Mountains, etc. (And Palm Canyon, abandoned mines, etc.!) Such great memories!! For a dairy farm boy from Wisconsin, AZ was awesome!! Thank you!!

I applaud the amount of planning and work that goes into your adventures. Sure glad i can do it vicariously through y'all. I'm very much aware of the financial money pit RV life can be. I have friends that go out occasionally and their monthly incomes in retirement are significant. I've become a little too conservative at my age (65) and have reigned in my little adventures significantly. If they become too laborious or financially draining I tend to dial back. Good luck and stay safe.

A little trick used to keep mice out of your camper, a lot of people here in Texas will use fox urine( purchase at Academy sporting goods) on the ground around your tires.

A person once asked a TAT rider why he rode a R1200GS while riding the Trans American Trail since so many ride the smaller bikes? He response was simple and made so much since. He said his GS handled everything with ease except for about 2% of the time when he struggled. It was worth the comfort the other 98% of the time. You guys do well except when you hit the deeper sand…most people struggle with sand. Keep making the vids guys! Enjoy the adventures.

I am 77. I watched Itchy boots and was intrigued by that type of riding. I was a Harley Road King and Victory rider for my younger years. Anyway, I bought a small dual sport to learn to ride the trails not single track but FS and LOGGING. I have a nice travel trailer plus the TW 200 fits on a rack. My question is if you really do not adventure, why not; a smaller BMW 310 GS..easier on weight and accomplishes your goals as I see them. Thanks and travel safe

BTW Rich&Cris l use a 5 gallon pail with 3 inches of anti- freeze, a 1×4" ramp and a wire coat hanger through a pop can or beer can mounted in 2 v notches on the five gallon pail smeared with peanut butter. They jump to the tin can it spins and in the pool they go. I use this at my hunting camp year round no muss no smell, just empty the trash upon visits. For traveling in a trailer just pour contents back in a windshield washer jug till next use.hope this helps

I like how Nora Lee on Itchy Boots rides. A small Honda 300, then get some good riding boots with the hard plastic up over the angle and you are set. You two are scaring me with those big bikes off rode. You will get better gas mileage, and a more reliable bike. Yes, Richard is going to look like a circus bear on a bicycle, and so do I when I ride my TW200. I am too old for a heavy bike landing on me. I just got a KLR and I am starting to think maybe I too should have gotten a small Honda.

Some say Irish Spring is something mice don’t like. Stuff the bounce in the slide area very close to the slide seals inside. Number one point of entry. They can jump. Work for an rv dealership.

Nice video with lots of interesting content. I laughed when Richard asked if the highschool students had perfect attendance in the converted prison...lol.
Regarding the mice...I had them in a car I had in storage. I tried everything to rid them but it was the Victor classic mouse traps that were the most effective. Before you go to bed each night, set at least 10 traps...when you are away for the day riding, make sure they are all reset. Also try and plug as many places in trailer that they have access to getting in from outside.
I enjoy all your videos...thanks for sharing & stay safe!

You both scare me a little bit when you get in the loose sand and gravel.
It takes lots of practice and good coaching to safely do some of the backroads you have ridden.
After a week riding in Big Bend I came to the realization that “There was a lot that I didn’t know, that I needed to know to safely go to those exciting backcountry locations that are out there.
Dusty Wessels at West 38 Moto along with his top notch coaches helped me with the instruction and experience that has enabled me to tackle tough back roads from New Mexico to Canada.
There certainly are other ADV MC Instruction Operations, I think both of you would be a good match with Dusty and his group of instructors. I think you probably would enjoy pulling up some of his instruction videos, and get fired up about his training.
I really appreciate the enthusiasm and spirit you capture in your videos.
I always look forward to your latest travel video updates.
    Thanks for sharing them!

Dropping a bike in those situations is awesome because it means you are trying. I've heard nothing but good things about BMW's off road course in South Carolina. Jump on one of their GS's for a couple of days and get the basics and you'll realize you guys are super capable. Enjoy!

Can't remember if you're currently heading west or east, but if you're heading east, Bisbee, AZ is a great little town worth checking out - it's kind of between Tombstone and the Mexican border (roughly). There's a cool motorcycle motel there run by another TH-camr and his partner. Sterling Noren is the guy's name and they put out a lot of adv bike camping videos, mainly based in the AZ desert, which are cool to view. And, if you're heading west, file it away for your next loop. Heh. Enjoy your ride and greetings from Vashon Island, WA. I always enjoy watching your vids.

That ride from Kofa to Yuma is pretty boring and quiet. Caught myself doing 100 mph on my Honda Goldwing going to Yuma jail and Fry’s for groceries in 2019. You two among others are motivating me to do the same You Tube videos on my tour of the Canadian Rockies Alberta and BC Canada in early May!!! Both exciting and terrifying at the same time on a 2004 BMW K1200LT

You guys should consider an auxiliary has tank that can fit on your rig. But, not sure if you have to mess with D.O.T.

I put peppermint oil on cotton balls and put them in the compartments of my boat and it seems to keep the mice away. For some reason mice don't like the smell

I hate to hear your getting rid of the GSA. I wish I could get my accountant to let me buy it. She doesn't think I need 2 motorcycles. Got a new truck on order, so its a hard sell. Hope I NEVER need to go to California, glad you guys showed us around.

Now that you have a trailer and doing day rides and doing more dirt. Re think your bikes, swallow your pride and get lighter bikes. Sometimes our age catches up and we need to make adjustment. Love your vids!

I was relieved Chris didn’t adventure into the dunes. Every single fall may snap your leg like a dry branch :( Scary the idea of any of you injured. Light bikes for anything other than asphalt.
      When GS750 ? :) Honda CB500X ? KTM 690 Adventure ? Huskvarna Long Range ? :)

    • @graemeshaw9716
      @graemeshaw9716 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes I totally agree. Now your bikes aren't your main mode of touring and you don't have to carry all your gear on them, I suggest smaller, lighter bikes for your rides.

Try the Honda 300’s or the Kawasaki 300’s. The KTM’s way too much maintenance
