Rushmore, The Bad Lands of South Dakota, Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon and worked in Hot Springs NP, Arkansas. There are so many beautiful parks in the lower 48 states. Hopefully, these parks will be around for MANY years to come. At Mt. Rushmore area was the Crazy Horse Monument. Thank you.

    I like your icon for this video: Teakettle Junction is a fun spot to visit. I have two teakettles that I recovered from there when the Rangers were clearing them out. One's in my camper, and every time I boil water in it for tea or hot cocoa, I think of Death Valley and the great hikes I've had there.

    Hi Alice, My brother Ken and I took a trip to Bryce National Park. What is a really cool thing to do is to take the Horse 🐎 Ride tour they offer through Brice. I was nervous that the Horse might lose it's footing and fall off the Trail, but my Horse never did. The Horse Ride in Bryce I recommend 👌

    Yes, Death Valley is a marvelous and distinctive park! We've been visiting the park for years and never tire of it's rustic landscape. The majority of the roads are unpaved and many require 4x4 SUV's with HIGH clearance. Fortunately, Jeeps can be rented in Furnace Creek!

    We are thinking about exploring those parks in October. What time of year did you make this video?

    • @AliceFordAdventures
      @AliceFordAdventures  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We shot this video in February. It should be a little warmer in October then when I visited, however there will be cooler temperatures especially in Bryce Canyon. If you do all three parks expect to go from the 80's in Death Valley down to 60's and possibly 50's in Zion and Bryce.

    • @laura-ann.0726
      @laura-ann.0726 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The peak season at Death Valley is November 15 through the end of February. During that time window, temperatures at the lower elevations are still mild and you can find shade in the canyons if you are on a hike and it's a warm day. At elevations from 3000' and up, for instance at Eureka Dunes or Wildrose Canyon, Skidoo, and Aguereberry Point, it is very cold at night in December and January; I camped for a week once at Wildrose, in early January, and it got down to 15°F overnight. At Eureka Dunes in January, overnight lows will typically be down in the mid-20's, so be prepared with proper cold weather clothes and sleeping bag if you are going to the higher elevations in the winter months. At Furnace Creek, which is below sea level, temperatures are milder, maybe down to the low 30's at night in December and January. In October or March, it can be over 90°F during the day, and only cools down to the mid 60's at night. I only go in March if there's been heavy winter rain and the park is having a "Super-Bloom" wildflower display, like in the winter of 2015/2016.

    I'm wondering what footwear would be best for hiking that trail? A good pair of waterproof pants would be a good idea I think for colder weather, but I think my old diving shoes may be best for the warmer weather. What do you think?

    • @AliceFordAdventures
      @AliceFordAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the narrows? It depends on type of year, in summer you’ll probably want a Teva Sandal or something like that. In winter you’ll want waterproof sneakers and waders. Most of the outdoor stores also rent dry suits with booties as well

  • @coopscorner123

    I'm a bit confused about something, Alice. I've been told drones are not allowed in NP's? I have one, a DJI Pro Platinum, but figured I wouldn't be able to use it in any of the parks I'll be visiting in a few months. This may be a touchy subject to approach here on this venue, so I'll leave that where it's at. Who knows, we may meet at a park sometime. I'll be on my "Y Tour" of Yellowstone & Yosemite, visiting as many of the grand places in between as I can in this 3-month tour of the west. Starting April 21st. this year.

    • @AliceFordAdventures

    • @AliceFordAdventures
      @AliceFordAdventures  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it is Possible. But start early and allow more time for Zion. In the summer Zion is only accessible by shuttle bus so park in town and take the bus into the park. Once there the shuttle will take to all the trails and points of interest in total 8 stops. Weeping rock would be a short 1 mile hike for your family. There is also a flat trail across from the Zion lodge close to the entrance. If you leave Zion by 2pm you can reach Bryce by 4pm at the latest and explore Bryce via the rim loop by car. If you do have time walk down the Queens Garden Trail.

    Plastic water bottles should be banned from entering the national parks should be a law a proper drinking vessel should only be allowed I went to a national Park and I was disgusted on how many water bottles were laying on the ground blowing in the wind.

      They were banned by Obama and sadly Trump overturned it when he got into office 4 years ago. I hope they switch back. This country has a terrible lack of public fountains and options for those not wanting to buy plastic bottles.

    I enjoyed the video except for the flying of the drone in the national park which is illegal. The national parks are places of peace and natural solitude which are destroyed by the annoying sound of drones!

      Well.....that rules out driving too...
      If noise is considered to be the main problem, they could also make a list of 'silent enough' drones; my brother owns a DJI Mavic Pro that only makes a unobtrusive buzzing sound.
