    Maybe one day i will try also this Bruichladdich 20+ years gems. But in the mean time, for me, the Port Charlotte 10 its just perfect. Imho, the best Islay/peated 10 years old in the market.

    Thanks for the review. Don't think I could ever justify paying full price for Black Art so it's nice to live vicariously through you, lol.
    I also notice the Two Brewers in the background. I have releases 17 (malted rye) and 23 (lightly peated with sherry/port finish). I absolutely love them and will be looking to buy more of their stuff. Hope to see some reviews coming up at some point. Cheers!

    Richie Z shared the 4.1 with me. Amazing juice. Glad to hear you weren’t too impressed with the other batches and hopefully I can finally own a bottle from this batch. Cheers brother 🥃🤙

    Will have to live vicariously through you on these bottles. This one sounds like it's a candidate for something I do, splitting it into two bottles to open up for a few weeks then putting it back in one bottle. Fortunately Bruichladdich has outstanding Whisky available for lower prices. MRC:01 is a favorite of mine from them. Cheers Rob

    Never fear! Professor Rob is here!!
    I'm fairly certain I tried Black Art 7.1 at a local Bruichladdich tasting a year or so ago and the brand rep actually claimed that it would be THE LAST 20+year-old expression they'd be able to produce. (Due to the shutdown in 1994 and Jim McEwan taking over late 2000 into early 2001, every Black Art moving forward would be ~18 years age stated.) Apparently that was just, as ralfy would say, "marketing flannel."

      Makes sense. Ralfy knows best. Cheers buddy.

    £350 Canadian is about £200 and if it were that price in the U.K I'd seriously consider buying one. Sadly. it's £285 and outside my comfort zone. Still, glad to see you enjoying it my friend. The missus and me got our jabs last weekend and Easter holidays coming up. She's exhausted after all the remote teaching she's had to do. We'll be stuck at home of course. Wishing you and the family a good Easter break as well. Welsh

      That’s good. One less thing to worry about I guess. It’s definitely great value in these parts. Purchased a Valinch and Mallet Ledaig 10 that on paper looks to be a big winner. We shall see when it arrives.
      Enjoy the Easter break my friend. All the best.

    Great review, Rob! 26 year premium Scotch for $400 or less isn’t that unusual. Sounds like one to pour and enjoy slowly😊🥃 Cheers brother

    I slam the LCBO alot....but I gotta admit that's pretty good value for that kind of age statement in an Islay whisky....would you go with this or the Highland Park 21 (currently on my shortlist)?

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably this. Only because I’ve tried it and can confirm the quality. Haven’t tried the new hp21

    £285 ($491cdn). That's direct from Bruchladdich. I have one and it's my special occasion drink. Lovely from start to finish. Sits at the back so I have to work just to get at it. Subscription added for a great review will be checking your back editions.

    A few years ago walked into a local LCBO and spotted a bottle of 4.1 at around $330, not showing on their inventory, no brainer for that one. This 8.1 is now $380 with about 24 bottles listed all in Toronto. Cheers.

    • @WhiskyInThe6

    Maybe just me but I absolutely adore the 6.1. Haven’t tried other Black Arts but it hits every mark for me and loved by everyone I shared it with.
    Honestly the 45.1% turned me off from the 8.1 but if it’s CS like you said, maybe just older stock. Cheers!

    Canada definitely has a relatively good price--it's over $400 Canadian in Japan.

    • @peterwhite507
      @peterwhite507 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's over $400 Cad in most of Canada. Ontario LCBO just tends to lag behind the rest of the country sometimes which in this case worked out well. Trust me that the LCBO pricing for Scotch is some of the worst in the world.
