I’m a college dropout who managed my way to around 100,000 a year but a lot of this is location based.
I know of mailmen making 120,000 in Boston, and garbage men in nyc.
One cool thing to mention is that business opportunities are just as plentiful as a jobs and often overlooked!
My dad is a middle school drop out who started building houses at 14 and he did pretty well.
Drive is everything. I think a lot of people get tripped up thinking they always need the degree.
“How you can set yourself apart from everyone else” So True!
The best salesman in the world make so much more than the bottom 99% of salespeople.
      Keep up the great content!

I’m British and I find it weird that exactly the same job in the UK and the US is almost never directly converted. Like the idea of a flight attendant earning $50k (£43k) in the UK is hilarious! My job is a Clinical Auditor and I make £33k ($44k) per year yet the average American salary for a Clinical Auditor is around $73k...it’s so weird.

After working in a factory and noting the most “popular” and “successful” people were the dumbest, meanest, loudest, most gossipy people, I can say with certainty that you’re correct. Basically a more depressing high school. At least in my experience. In a much better place now.

    • @shirleydrake1602

High school prepares you for nothing and very often college prepares you for even less, the difference is the college graduate THINKS he is prepared for a desk job and therefore is unwilling to accept anything less. I am both a high school graduate and a college graduate. Both should prepare you to LEARN. If you learn that and are willing to work HARD then maybe you can make a living. You might even enjoy it.

Dude, that’s awesome! My great-grandpa immigrated here from Italy and worked for Union Pacific most of his life. He loved his job (even then when times and jobs were much tougher). I’ve always been fascinated by the railway industry, and having been to Europe, I can say it truly saddens me that the U.S. doesn’t prioritize having a more robust railway travel infrastructure. I love traveling by railway and have done so with Amtrak several times. I’m working on specializing in computer programming and think it would be really cool to get a programming job with a company like Amtrak! It seems like they’re a great company to work for!

    • @BrentInvesting
      @BrentInvesting 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

A Rod Hello! I had a friend who joined one year who had a computer science degree, he was paid less then I was even tho he had a degree so while it’s nice it’s a lot of basic level classes that make you book smart, but not hands on tech level smart.
If you want to become a developer or engineer I’d focus on applying at a help desk/sys admin, jobs start anywhere from $15-30 All depends on area and such, while there work on getting A+, Sec+, N+ if you pass the certs the job usually covers the costs, around 2-4 yr point work towards your next step I went with CCNA network/switch, and once you have that look for system/network engineer jobs.
I program, but as a hobby I learned on my own c# and made a few apps that I have free on App Store with ads.
In about 4 years instead of of going to college to get in debt if your taking out loans you could be sitting at a 60K plus job, if you want to learn to program I suggest learning on your own, not sure if you want normal app dev or games, but Unity is the platform I use and lots of tutorials on how to program.

    • @BrentInvesting
      @BrentInvesting 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@MVMT 15 That's what's I've done and there are a ton of certs out there going over database, colllab, data center, cloud. Tech is/will be the biggest this over the next x amount of years.
It really depends on where your focus is, I focus on Network/Security so I went with CCNA Routing & Switching, where as someone else might do security, cloud, etc.
If your looking at college check out WGU, Western Governors University, you can get bachelors + get 14 industry certs.
I know a few guys in my department have gone to it and picked up a bunch of certs while doing college, + our work pays tuition etc.
      GL!

There are several higher paying careers that don't require degrees. Natural Gas / Petroleum processing plant operators (Operations Technicians) 60k - 130k, not to mention working directly on rigs although that is not as cushy, safe, or stable as being in the processing facilities. Another amazing industry that people don't realize doesn't require college degrees...DUM DUM DUM.. the TECH INDUSTRY! More and more tech companies throw out degree requirements in favor of people who have a good portfolio, willingness to continually learn and most importantly are passionate about the work they're doing. Tech jobs require constant growth and adaptation. People who thrive here are people who have the ability to teach themselves and develop new skills hands on. If you are that type of person, can teach yourself to code or design and build a solid portfolio, you CAN get a high paying job in Technology.

However, having worked and managed in the Insurance Business for 40 years I can say that an Insurance Sales agent generally has a college degree and the salary is well above the $47,000 indicated even for relatively 'unsuccessful' agents. (of course there can always be exceptions). I am also glad that I viewed this vlog so late, as there are many excellent examples from your viewers how they have applied themselves to their trade and are earning (and deserving through hard work ) their excellent salaries.

You right, that truck driver is one of the best options to choose, specially now that they are on demand. Here in New York a Hazmat driver makes +80K
That's what i wanted to do since i was a little kid
The thing is that, in order to be a truck driver and drive a class A, you need to be at least 21 years old, you can get the class B at 18 and drive local but is like imposible to find a job, because "for insurance purposes"
So after hight school at 17-18 years old we are obligated to persue something else,
In electricity you need 7 years of experience or more supervised by an electrical contractor to get your license and start making good money, but in the first three years you are going to be making 14-17/h as a helper, unless you join a union but is not that easy
I didn't know and maybe some people don't know
But i'm still waiting to be a truck driver instead.

I happen to be a UPS driver and I'm not sure about the USPS making more money. The possible reason for the USPS showing more money is because its an easier company to work for and being full-time UPS driver is a very complicated process that many people would have a hard time sticking out until their wages increase. Current drivers at UPS max out at 36.50/hr and that wage is going to increase to 40/hr. I don't recommend becoming a driver however because they are pushing through a new contract where you top out at 32/hr, have to work in the building, and have to work on Sundays. So get on now!

The pay sucks starting out (usually as a helper or changing oil), a lot of people wash out, you have to buy expensive tools, it's hard on your body if you don't work smart. However there is money to be made if you're actually decent at this. I was making 45k/yr after two years. Then 55k, 60k, 85k, and then 110k last year. Ended up being an extreme backed up whole house clog and a pipe bursted and I got shit raining on me and my partner all over. We still raining shit on us start sweeping out the house. Needless to say I washed my self off with a garden hose the best I could and I could not come back.

No, I believe you’d like plumbing if you like puzzles. This is why I enjoyed plumbing. You don’t need to work with sewage if you’re working as a residential or service and repair plumber - you’d mostly work on new houses and people installing new kitchens, while repairing water leaks occasionally. Plumbing can be really fun if your like problem solving, solving puzzles and serving/interacting with people. If your mindset is “I want to love and serve this person”, then you’ll find a big tolerance to an occasional crawl on a sticky soda-spilled floor behind the kitchen counter. People also often serve you something to drink or eat, and it’s a nice job. A commercial plumber might have to deal with a little more sewage, while interacting with less people, and following a set of instructions/request/directions/plans, but they are people who ‘get the job done, cause it’s gotta be done’. It’s to be honored, but I myself enjoy the interactions and problem solving aspects of the other two types of plumbing.

Class A CDL Truck drivers who drive across the country can actually average about $60k-$100k working for a company. And if you own your own truck and you operate it yourself lets say in flatbed hauling or reefrigirated trailers you can see numbers as high as $250k gross and about $150k-$200k net.

@@jadelee289 Hi! I should preface this by saying I am in Canada, and my hourly has since increased to $27. Some hospitals will require a college program of medical admin or something similar. I was able to get in without prior schooling because I’d worked in pharmacy and they found my medical terminology knowledge to be sufficient from that. Hours will depend on the unit - ERs typically require 12hr shifts and some nights. Others will be a rotation of days, evenings, overnights. Some clinics will operate solely daytime hours and you may end up with a steady Mon-Fri 8-4 type gig.

I think these options are a solid plan B. If you aspire for something more, you don’t have to go to a 4 years institution. You can go to trade school, vocational school or just get your associates (2years) or a simple certification that range from 6 months to a year. Just something simple will push you to that 60,000 annual salary really quick. There’s also a larger range of careers so a better chance to find something that really interests you and that you’re passionate about.

Trucking is a dying industry though. With the advancement in autonomous cars and trucks, it is going to drastically reduce the need for so many drivers. If you are already in the industry, its fine because it will take 10-15 years for the technology to catch up, but I would not recommend trying to get into trucking.

I looked into becoming a postal worker. Junk! They would not hire me because I had a small gap in my job history.. not easy enough to get into, like you suggest Nate. Also, I used to be a professional semi truck driver. Nate, I should be the man in this video.. ur just too young and inexperienced at life to know some of the things I know about money. You have to capitalize, that is why it's called capitalism. I do like how you have figured out that the rich people live off of interest earned (& they get far more money than they are taxed so as to make a profit off of just their money in a savings acct.) & even get slowly richer over time just on their money alone. Anyways, back to trucking.. I was OTR with a CDL class A drivers lic. & DSW Trucking out of Tucson, AZ hired me right out of AIT Truck Driving School (in Phoenix, AZ) after a one month course. That company hired me as a solo truck driver, but without telling me strait up (honestly) that they expected me to do the work of two men! ALL solo truck drivers are expected to do the work of 2 men! Why? Because each truck is designed with two seats & 2 beds.. & when a warehouse told me that I was late, but I see on my electronic thingy (Qaullcomm) that I am NOT late and within the time frame to drop off my load I picked up for them.. then, something is odd. Means, they expected me to be even earlier than what my trucking company was telling me.. how could I have driven to max legal limits & been late!? It's obvious that the whole industry expects there to be another drivers (2 drivers switching out & keeping the truck moving most of ever 24 period). The truck does not have a legal limit of 10 or 11 hours (DOT law), but rather each driver has that limit. 2 drivers would mean 20 hours out of every 24 hour period that the semi truck moves down the road for. Solo truck drivers either have to be twice the size, strength, stamina, & get away with driving more than they r legally allowed 2.. OR losing their jobs as about 95% of all solo truck drivers do. A stat another truck driver driving for SWIFT told me. Stupid miss management on a national level! My real anger lies with the damn trucking industry for wasting my time. IF I was well off enough financially to own and have my own semi tractor, then I could have stayed in my job I had back in 2002 being a truck driver. ONLY IF. But, my dad was poor & so was I.. so that wasn't an option. I could not afford even a used semi tractor at about $90,000 to not have a mean dispatch/company to work for that always would ask me to drive too much. I might look into railroad work.. but from what I understand that insurance sales agent is required to keep up on getting new customers or else loose his/her job.

Not all these jobs are accepting non-citizens who are legally allowed to work in the US. For example postal office, if we are talking about USPS, it is a government facility that makes it a requirement to be a citizen ( not a legal resident with work authorization) to work for them.
