Thank you for this heart lifting presentation by Deacon Fournier, who worked so closely with Bishop Tyler, and, is so impressed with his holiness and his spiritual leadership, his fatherliness, and his holiness. I haven't been so greatly impressed spiritually since I read the life of the Cure of Ars. I cry to think that the Pope took this away from the people of Tyler. He is what we all need. He really is "the real deal"

This was such a good interview, that I have read the transcript and am saving the interview for later watching. Thank you for it. I did not know very much about Bishop Strickland, but have certainly come to appreciate him in the last few weeks. I can easily see why he is so loved and admired for his fidelity to Jesus Christ, the church, and the flock. We are headed for rough times. Edward Pentin gave a talk at the Catholic Identity Conference and what he said agrees with the consensus of many Catholics. The rot in the church has been revealed, and it is deep. If Rome does not repent, Rome may fall under the weight of it's own evil. As is said, God will not be mocked. When good shepherds are removed, the hour is late. God bless Bp. Strickland, and all here. I meant to add, I'm especially sorry for the Catholics of Tyler, some of whom moved there specifically because Tyler had a thriving Catholic community. What has been done to them is cruel, even wicked.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him too! The man is the real deal and my first thought, this man has no guile period. He gives you his undivided attention with no sign of irritation that he couldn’t wait to move on. It was a real pleasure and you can feel his holiness.

Thank you. This is what the Lord wanted. How good it is, that crisis magazine with its excellent director, proclaim the truth on this good bishop. Deacon Fournier it is showing us in his life and words what an authentic Catholic is suppose to be and giving us a living testimony on the life of Bishop Strickland. I join you, when we ask The Lord to renew His church, according to His Heart. Let’s proclaim the goodness of The Lord !

We all need a deeper conversion to listen obey and act for the work of the Holy Spirit of Truth to share the transforming light of Christ. The description of Bishop Strickland given by Deacon Keith resonates with me. The good bishop blessed me with an hour of his time on a recent visit to Texas in the midst of the turmoil of the visitation. As deacon says, Bishop Strickland had such peace in the midst of a desperate situation because of his deep, abiding faith and his devout prayer life.. This is precisely the kind of bishop I would LOVE to serve under. His interview with John Henry Weston just six hours after his removal, Bishop Strickland was grace-filled in his response to the uncharitable action brought against him.

One thing I wish he would have explained more was the contrast between the ecclesial model and the corporate model. I’m not sure what he means, but I sense it is vitally important.

This Deacon really lays it out. My experience with Bishop Strickland shows me that he is close to our lord. I can think of nothing else but the the Vatican is afraid that this holy community will stand in their way of changing the church being that the faith is in this community is so strong. I love attending a parish in the Tyler diocese. Both Novus Ordo and TLM .

My former pastor was Fr. Eduard Perrone of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Bishop Strickland is another great loss for the Church. Fr. Perrone's name was cleared, but he is no longer the pastor of the Assumption Grotto Parish. The new pastor is the former associate and so continuity remains, thank our Gracious Lord. Still, how can this go on?

Some day they will sadly realize that they have gravely persecuted a saintly pope....
They are unable to see Saint Francis's ways...
    Re: SSPX
I always sort of shrink when I hear that society speaking like there are two levels in Catholicism... Their level as being superior and holy (better dressed) and (better postures), and the Holy Catholic Church as being sort of irreverent...
At 78, I lived through the Latin Mass, and came out of the Mass not having understood much in that language.
I still love to reminisce about those good old days, but since Mother Church is a good mother; she decided that each faithful would be better served hearing the Mass in their own language...I immediately cheered that decision indeed.
Please don*t tell me that back in those days that I was receiving Holy Communion in a more reverent way, as one grows in the love of receiving the Body, Blood Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    Ps
One should not even notice if others are receiving on the tongue or in the hand if one is concentrated on who one receives.

Umm no, nothing to do with Bishop Strickland personally, but the fact that the pope has made statements and decisions contrary to Tradition for years. Are you reading what’s coming out of the Vatican? Just released a document ripe full of error and equating Jesus with Buddha. A few weeks ago said priests could bless same sex “unions.” Bishop Strickland is defending the FAITH that came from the Apostles and down through the ages! Pay attention. The Bishop doesn’t defend himself, he defends Christ!

Did Jesus change his mind 'promise' after he declared...And *I* also, I say unto thee that *thou* art Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and hades' gates shall not prevail against it.
Pope Francis was elected by the cardinals who were inspired by the Holy Spirit; as promised by our Lord.
Luther created 40 thousand plus little self proclaimed popes by having difficulty with one pope.
Then he eventually called that pope 'Satan'...
The very same thing is happening these days.
Protestants and non practicing Catholics are licking their chops saying "you see? That is why I don't listen to the pope".
Do you not know what the Catechism teahes?.
Well; be faithful to what it teahes; and let the pope confess his sins and please do the same.
    Let God be God...
Peter denied Jesus and he made him pope.
A lack of faith and humility creates division and confusion
Confession for (all) is the remedy.

On July 16, 2021, Pope Francis issued an Apostolic Letter and subsequent clarification, restricting the widespread usage of the Tridentine Mass which has led to the current division and polarization among the faithful. This was done to safeguard the Church and the liturgical life of the faithful. Bishop Strickland, by his own admission, chose to publicly ignore and disobey these instructions from his leader and boss, the Supreme Pontiff of the Holy Catholic Church.
On September 16th, 2022, Bishop Strickland signed a public document that condemned Pope Francis's teaching in an Apostolic Letter entitled Desiderio Desideravi regarding the reception of Holy Communion, as contrary to a dogma of the Catholic Church thereby accusing the pope of heresy.
In May 2023, Bishop Strickland tweeted that he “rejects” Pope Francis’ “program undermining the Deposit of Faith”. He has built an increasingly hostile national profile and following, on a number of other issues concerning the Pope.
In June 2023, he led a rally outside the stadium of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball club, against the team’s decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an LGBT activist group specializing in Catholic-themed drag acts. All this was done against the wishes of the local bishop, who had not given his “backing or approval” and who called for a prayer vigil instead. This action of not following proper protocol and custom by Bishop Strickland was seen as an affront to the local Bishop and the Church because it was seen as undermining the authority of a fellow Bishop and showed a deep lack of respect.
In August 2023, following an apostolic visitation, Strickland released a pastoral letter in which he warned Catholics about “the evil and false message that has invaded the Church, Christ’s Bride.”
Two things that are certain to get you fired anywhere, but in particular, in the Catholic Church, are disobedience and insurrection! There are proper ways to go about getting things done and dealing with problems. I fear Bishop Strickland has fallen for the most common of sins, the sin of pride. He is on a personal crusade and has now become the source of his own glory. He follows in the illustrious footsteps of such clerics as, Fr. James Altman, Fr. Frank Pavone, and a myriad of other priests who have defied authority and claim to have a “better way”.
In less than twenty-four hours of the Bishop's dismissal, two priests have come forward from the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, that describe Bishop Strickland’s management style as narcissistic, tyrannical and hurtful and, as a leader who has made several blunders in Diocesan appointments and firings that has hurt the diocese. Recent reports indicate there has been an abnormally high rate of turnover in the personnel in the Diocese of Tyler since Bishop Strickland assumed control. As is normally the case in situations like this, there appears to be more to the story than meets the eye.
It was a result of these incidents of disobedience and insurrection that the Bishop was dismissed. His dismissal was not just inevitable and not just necessary, but sadly, urgent. For Bishop Strickland, his recent actions made his position completely untenable.
The problem today is, that we are getting our Catechism from the Internet. We aren’t listening to Christ’s Vicar on Earth or, the teaching Magisterium. Let Pope Francis have a chance to defend his actions and dissect what is actually said rather than swallow what popular podcasters on TH-cam, or rebellious clerics, have to say. You can’t encourage the faithful to reject Christ’s Church just because you don’t like the current Pope. As a Bishop, you cannot preach disobedience. Obviously, some minds have been made up. Period! Francis is being crucified without any evidence. Sound familiar?

Hi Ed, I agree with you that Pope Francis is greatly maligned. Traditionalists seem to refuse to understand where he is coming from. That said I really grieve at this outcome for Bishop Strickland. Although I have disagreed with Bishop Strickland's take on Pope Francis, I think your judgment of Bishop Strickland is not quite correct either.
Tridentine mass: According to Vatican II, Lumen Gentium, the bishop is the regulator of worship in his diocese: ""#26: Every legitimate celebration of the Eucharist is regulated by the bishop, to whom is committed the office of offering the worship of Christian religion to the Divine Majesty and of administering it in accordance with the Lord's commandments and the Church's laws, as further defined by his particular judgment for his diocese." Bishop Strickland has said he did not feel he could deny a portion of his flock. Pope Francis himself has said cannon law can not be an absolute. Priests and bishops must make decisions pastorally considering the mitigating circumstances in situations. According to Vatican II, this was Strickland's pastoral call to make.
Desiderio Desideravi: The only time heresy is mentioned in the letter is: ""The claim that faith is the only requirement for worthy reception of the Holy Eucharist was condemned by the Council of Trent as a heresy". This is not saying Pope Francis is teaching heresy but that the claim is heresy. Later the letter says: "Pope Francis has indicated by his words and actions that he holds the view expressed by the natural meaning of the words of Desiderio desideravi cited above." The concern in the letter is that the words have a "natural meaning" which could contradict doctrine. They are concerned by his actions that he give the impression he holds to this heresy. This is similar to when St Paul Called out St Peter when he held back from meeting with Gentile Christians. Peter's actions were ambiguous and could be interpreted as violating the teaching we are saved by faith apart from works of the law. The issue the authors of the letter raise is one of ambiguity and they wish to clarify church teaching. Certainly this can be legitimate if done in the right spirit.
“program undermining the Deposit of Faith”: Again, I think Strickland's concern is the ambiguity of the Pope's words, not accusing him of heresy.
Dodgers: I don't know if this is a violation of collegiality or not. Like others, the bishop was probably very upset by the Dodgers and as a Christian wanted to protest. Even Bishop Baron thought the dodgers should be responded to in strong terms. See his video.
Pastoral letter: This is just Strickland defending the deposit of the faith.
Tyrannical: As you're probably aware, no matter what you do some people will disagree with you and complain. The same is certainly true here. People are now calling the Pope tyrannical, but that doesn't mean it's true. Far from it.
Pride: I would be cautious about accusing the bishop of this. This is a judgment of the state of his soul which we can't know. Personally I don't get this impression. But I don't know either.
While I like many things pope Francis teaches, he has really disappointed me here. In the church today the disagreement seems to be on two pastoral approaches: 1) tell people clearly and often that they are sinners and need to repent and accept the mercy of our Lord. 2) Attract people with the person of Jesus and let them gradually surrender to the moral law as they fall in love with the Lord. I don't see heresy being involved here. Pope Francis rightly teaches about tolerance and being open to and dialoging with people who disagree with you. A disagreement on the correct pastoral approach is certainly something that is legitimate. But in spite of his words our Pope removes people who disagree with him. This is a great disappointment since I agree with his words on dialog. The great problem I see with the church is everyone is talking past each other and refusing to really listen to the other. It is a great failure in charity. God help us to listen to our brothers and sisters and try to see where they're coming from. Take care brother.

@@JosephLukeHall the Church isn’t a democracy. Everyone thinks the bishops are allowed to have an opinion. They aren’t. Ultimately, in the end, the Pope has supreme power and the final say. It’s not open for discussion. We must obey when given an order. And we certainly shouldn’t take our cause public on the Internet and ridicule and undermine Church authority. Bishop Strickland has accomplished much, but disobedience and insurrection cannot be tolerated. He backed the Pope into a corner. Francis could not permit this to continue. I feel there are a few more suspensions yet to come. And this should not be a surprise, we all know who they are.

Pope Francis certainly has the authority to remove and appoint bishops as he sees fit. However, I don't see anything in your list that really rises to the level of necessitating the removal of Bishop Strickland. He also has a lot of men studying for priesthood, which is a sign he is doing well as a leader. The Bishop also doesn't seem disobedient: he is accepting with peace this decision even though it must be painful. There is some value in allowing Bishops to stay in place, UNLESS they are causing moral scandal such as those Bishops who covered up the abuse scandal. I'll be patiently awaiting some explanation of this decision from the Vatican.

Absolute nonsense! Obviously, you are a liberal “ popesplaner” Bergoglio holds opinions contrary to the deposit of the faith. Anyone with a theological IQ above 10 , which apparently you don’t have, can see his inconsistency of belief with orthodox Catholic teaching. Bishop Strickland, as a good bishop, must “ resistant hm to the face” as St Paul did to St. Peter.

A bishop should not be disrespectful to the Pope. Strickland was. Also Christianity is not about doctrines it is about a relationship a person JC. Jesus said all is about Loving God and his people and serving Him. That is exactly what Francis reminds us. And listening to others and open the doors to all. Strickland is a shame calling pope Francis an usurper! Strickland is not humble. He is thinks he is the only one who loves Christ. Sad.

We are to love all but hate the sin. Pope Francis seems to be loving all and welcoming and celebrating their sin too. Bishop Strickland is staying with the precepts, doctrine, teachings of the Catholic Chirch and what the Bible teaches us. Accepting and blessing same sex unions is condoning sin. Why is the Pope keeping those who promote the LBGTQ etc lifestyle and other things that are against the teachings of Christ? No where in the Bible are these sins accepted and blessed. You cannot bless sin!

When the Vatican wants to bless sin, states atheists can go to heaven if they are people of good conscience, there are problems. Not to mention all of the cover up of the sex crimes. Either the Bible is the one true word of God, or the Vatican is. When the Vatican contradicts the Bible , it needs to be questioned. The beginning of the end of the Church as we knew it for 2000 years. The Vatican is causing these confusions , no one else.

True, priests should be respectful to one another. And, yet, Francis has treated Strickland quite shamefully. Christ noted that the first and greatest commandment of all is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. The second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself. Both of these commandments come with important parameters. Proverbs 3:5-6, trust in the Lord with all your heart and do NOT lean on your own understanding; Ephesians 5:17, do not be foolish but understand what the Will of the Lord is; John 14:15, if you love me you will keep my commandments; Jeremiah 7:23, obey my Voice and I will be your God. Walk in all the way that I command you; Corinthians 11:2, maintain the traditions as I delivered them to you; 2 Thessalonians 2:15, stand firm and hold the traditions you were taught.
Of course, I could go on but the gist is that the Deposit of Faith is HOW God expects us to love Him and our neighbor. The HOW isn’t up to us or our feelings, preferences, and opinions. The Church and the Faith have ALWAYS been open to anyone and everyone, from the moment Jesus began His ministry, no matter how sinful or deviant. Christ doesn’t care what we’ve done in the past, as long as we repent ALL our sins and go forth - sinning NO MORE. Considering Francis’ stance on the blessing of gay unions, acceptance of openly gay priests, derision he has demonstrates for all Catholic Tradition, and his devotion to Martin Luther, the scandal the Church is being assaulted with is coming fro Francis and his personally selected magisterium. THAT is truly sad!

@@James-fk2ki people keep bringing up Saint Paul and St Peter. Well, here’s the difference. Saint Paul did not trash St Peter, nor refer to him as a heretic, a usurper, and not defending the faith. Big difference.
