this is absolutely not for beginners....but that didn't stop me watching you painting for hours :)
I have worked all my life with dark to light mediums, so watercolor has been really hard for me. I was always told by my art teachers that it was the most difficult medium to master...so I believe that, although it may not be true. As for learning, I didn’t get much out of the few workshops I took. It’s very helpful to have videos, but really, the best way to learn is to use the best supplies you can afford and to just keep painting.
I painted this today ...75 percent done ...thank you so much ...had a lot of fun. I just want to say I’m a beginner and this is definitely doable ...of course when it’s painting there are no real mistakes ...just a whole heap of fun

How does your paper stay wet?? I struggle with my paper drying too quickly, or, if I add more water, it buckles. I’m using Arches paper, which I thought was supposed to be better quality.
Good question, I Shiba replies. I have been trying various methods lately. The one that seems to work well is to wet both sides with a medium size flat brush and just place on table. Make sure the table surface doesn't absorb the moisture. If, like me, you live somewhere with very low humidity, then you might need to just spray water lightly on the painting.
I think the mop type brushes also help, because they hold a lot of water and allow it to drain onto the paper slowly as you paint.
There are other paper stretching techniques you can try, a lot depends on the paper you are using and what method of watercolour painting you use. Shiba, in these painting, uses mainly wet-on-wet, but he also allows drying of layers before continuing next phase of the painting. I just try different methods and experiment to see what works best for me.

Pl mention colours when u choose, it's really helpful to learn abt colour. Many of ur old tutorial used to have them, that made easy to learn painting

From the Colorado Rockies, my native Pueblos and Colonial Spanish Villages in New Mexico paint the doors blue, contrasted with mineral treatment of Adobe Brick structural walls~houses. i like your quick sketches and colorful treatment. More please, and, i too miss the old phrases of pigment description! its all GOOD!!!
