This video makes me emitional and cry,,,,,thank you so very much for this historical wrestling match remained and existing for ever. Thank you for yourself and Inoki-san. I really feel I have been ans am happy that I am a prowrestling fan.

The highlights sure look impressive. I need to watch the whole match and see how many rest holds are used and for how long. The best match I have ever seen is Robinson vs Inoki
Now that's what I call pure sportsmanship in every sense of the word, it's great to go back and watch some of these old matches cause they still hold up, I'm a big fan of those matches you and Terry had against Bruiser Brody.

I love the combination of the scientific and the brawling styles. Inoki must have a some immunity to the German suplex since he seems to received it a lot over the years and he always sells it the same way. Look for the match with Vader that's on here somewhere.

Dory, this is a good post. This had to be when you first won the title. I saw you a few times in 1984 in Greenwood, S.C. I know that you saw wrestling slowly evolve into what it is today. I remember Ted Turner bought WJRJ in Atlanta & renamed it WTCG & began broadcasting wrestling on it. Did you ever appear on there as the World's Champion? It would become WTBS in December 1976 when Terry was Champion. So you 2 were a part of history when Ted made his moves.

自分は当時小二でして、小学館月刊誌の付録にプロレス大図鑑あり。中でもこのドリーを特別扱いにしていて、恐怖の最強レスラー来襲と、子供たちを興奮のるつぼに落としました。自分も後出しジャンケンではなくリアルタイムで見ていていいレスラーだな、しかし猪木も負けてないぞ、などと翌日クラス中の話題になりました。TVが一家一台の時代、お父さんに付き合わされた女子も話の輪に入っていたものです。さて、おっしゃる通り猪木は自分が思うに昭和50年を境に猪木は体力が顕著に落ちて、レスリング技術で補えない分、プロモーターの特権で中途半端なラフでごまかすようになりました。要因として新団体立ち上げの労苦、馬場がNWA王者になったことでのテンション低下。それとTJシンとの選手寿命を著しく縮める度重なる死闘は特にダメージを深くしたと思います。なのでラフをやってはいけない(やったら相手の方が強い)テーズ、ロビンソン戦では闘魂は出せず体力・判断能力の低下に伴うレスクング技術の低下を見せつけられ、多感な自分は、猪木の全盛期は終わったなと、もうルスカ戦の時にはあきらめていました。でも昭和４４～４６年、及び
４８～５０年の時期に深く感動した名勝負は闘魂を教えられ今でも心の奥に生きています。

Amazing highlights. No famous Dory Jr. spinning toe hold or forearm upper cuts. Most have developed those moves later on.

I got the 5-disc set of Inoki a few months ago & this was the only match I felt that was missing from that set.

Dory Funk Jr. is one of the greatest of all times. In his day, Triple H, John Cena, Shawn Michaels etc. wouldn't last 5 minutes with him.

I have to say this match had more moving around and dropkicks and other stuff. This was pretty good.
