I'm 60 now and I've been listening to Supertramp since I was 14. For a long time I didn't understand anything in English language, but their music was so intense that I still understood the emotions of the text. Today, I always have a tear in my eye when I listen to one of their titles. The songs of this band have been part of my life and made it less sad, they made me dream and traveled.
Supertramp is what real music is all about. Substance and always a great way to break your fast each day. Thanks to Supertramp for giving us a musical treasure. Beautiful piano work.
I heard their song Logical at work and I got hit with the wulitzer, lyrics, the singer's voice and the solo ... the song is perfect ! Now I see that they are THAT great of musicians
If you are a fan of Supertramp, this video is a MUST watch. It is filled with facts and tidbits about the band that even the most educated Supertramp fan would not know. The video illuminates how one of the co-founders Roger Hodgson, wrote, and guided the band to incredible success. 5 stars out of 5 for this fascinating Supertramp documentary. Great work Maxime
"Don't leave me now", the last song of the last Real-Spertramp-Album and Roger's announcement in Munich "tonight is a very special night" are 2 of the saddest moments in my life. I will never forgive Roger and Rick that they weren't and still aren't able to overcome their differences and to keep this fabulous band alive. Even now, so many years later I can't listen to Don't leave me now without crying...
Attended the concert in Chicago at the old International Amphitheater. By far the best concert (of many) I attended in the late 70s, early 80s. They got the sound perfect and the video that accompanied “Rudy” was ahead of it’s time. The musicianship was superb. I bought my girlfriend a concert tee shirt which she later told me she discarded because it said, “Supertramp.” Oh, yeah, about that. 😂😂
Thanks a lot for this video. She's great. Supertramp is my favorite band and I think perhaps the most significative band of the century because like you said in the clip the melodies are wonderful and the lyrics always very kool or positive even if the subjects treated are serious. Roger is totaly the brain of this band and when he leaved it Supertramp had lost his soul. Thanks to share that beautiful video with us. I never forget that !
This is a fantastic project you’ve put together. I play in a Supertramp tribute group called Breakfast in Halifax; I got to meet Roger a few years ago. He came into the music store that I work at before a show he was playing that evening and we had a great conversation. What a wonderful person with a very stimulating past. Thank you for putting this together!
Thank you very much for the hard work you put into this video. I have recently become a fan of Supertramp and have learned so many fascinating details. Thank you!
It is that distinct sound and songwriting of Mr. Hodgson that got me hooked into becoming a major fan of Supertramp. I can agree on most of all points. On this evening of Famous Last Words' 40th 👌
THANK YOU! You have done such a great history of such a great band. THANK YOU again. You are special. I am old now, but I have an original lithograph [sic?] of the Breakfast in America album cover ( mine is 174 of 200) that that Roger signed for me when he was in Rochester NY about 7 years ago.
Félicitations, très beau reportage très émouvant. Supertramp m'accompagne aussi depuis que je suis petit et je ne remercierai jamais assez mes parents pour ça.
As much as a HUGE Supertramp fan as I am, this lil rockumentary/expose’, nearly brought tears to my eyes! Great work by all involved, I thank you!!!!!! 🤘😎✌️
Maybe I've came a bit too late, but I just want to say a big congrats for this awesome documentary that you have done. I am a crazy supertramp fan, but watching the documentary I've learned many things that I don't think I would ever have learned. Thank you !
This is a fantastic video! The visuals are spot-on and it is apparent that each clip you put in or animated was carefully thought out. The opening animation was incredible, even small details like the album zooming in with different elements zooming at different speeds at 9:32 I know takes a lot of work for such a seemingly insignificant shot but it shows great attention to detail! I have gotten very much into Supertramp during COVID-19 and this video was a great watch. I do have a question as a monolingual speaker from the USA: are you completely fluent in English? If so, is this from schooling or having lived somewhere where English is spoken or something else? I find it fascinating when a non-English speaker has an interest in English language music, and in my opinion one of the things that makes Supertramp so great are their fantastic lyrics.
🇬🇧 Supertramp, 🇬🇧 l'ami du petit-déjeuner 😋 Breakfast in 🇺🇸 Printemps '79 🫠 (Doc VOSTFR) Wonderful 'Story' 🙂 Manu - I (Remember) When a was young (Child) 1980 'Singles' Live in Paris 😛 Mais Qu'est - Ce C' bien fait! 🙂Montage 🎬 ✍ 🎥
skipped an entire album... "crisis.. what crisis..." and only included one song from "even in the quietest moments..." pretty much slave to the radio..

Magnifique storytelling, émouvant et nostalgique. Bravo !

True! They just don’t write them like that anymore.
Yeah you're totaly right! As a supertramp's fan I 100% agree with you
for me supertramp is best pop orchestral band ever ! above the beatles, above everyone
I totally agree

Excellent reportage ❤
Du très beau travail !
Beautiful and extremely well crafted. Bravo!
The big band of 70s. Even in the quietest. Was the first one I get on cassette. With a 💥boom box. To much fun.
Great video very well done and outstanding content. Supertramp is a fantastic band, quite unique style which resonates deeply with me.
This is amazing. I don't think I've seen anything like this on TH-cam before. Congratulations.

Brava!
Hodgson was not a founder, he had to apply to Rick Davies for the job. I am friends with John Helliwell.
Ya I believe he was responding to an ad in the melody maker. I believe quite a few musicians showed up to apply for the job.
@dw coop, can’t ask for a better source! 👍🏻

What is the Video at 13:10?
actually they didn't feel like tramps - they found a book called "Diary of a Supertramp" thus thats where they got the name from
Absolutely! History to restore the truth. Friendly from France.
Autobiography of a Supertramp
@@rockersagittarius2745 mdrrr c'est pas comme ça qu'on traduit "histoire de"
Excelente mini documental aunque siento que supertramp es mas que Roger y sus hits-
Exactamente!
Great video, but rick was just as significant as roger
exactly! Roger is quite overrated tbh
And Crime of the Century is still a better album....and Davies was just as much a driver of the band as Hodgson...
Too many vocal fry for me. Ciao !
FAUX ! L'ami du petit déjeuner est l'ami Ricoré!
J'aime cet humour ! :D
skipped an entire album... "crisis.. what crisis..." and only included one song from "even in the quietest moments..." pretty much slave to the radio..
what a shame
It is a bummer, would’ve loved to have seen Lady, that song imo is one of the finest audio mixing in music history
Pas le meilleur album ! Trop commercial
