  • I originally really liked the concept of Catawiki - for a long while though there hasn't been anything interesting on the platform. It was quite interesting seeing multiple deluxe watches pop up before the holiday season.
Turns out they were all scam and a mass scam ring has been going around on the platform for almost a year now. I've called them, emailed them. Send proof after proof, but they were aware of the issue yet weren't doing anything about it.
From the video you can easily observe that they are likely complicit in all of these actions too, from their lack of action and letting scammers stay on the platform. Quite bizarre and illogical all around.
There are 2 possibilities, 1) You are looking at an item that is slightly interesting: Just stay away, not worth the hassle. 2) You are looking at an exquisite item that's hard to pass: Just stay away, 100% a scam.
It doesn't make sense for honest sellers to list on the platform after events like this one either, so I don't think there is any turning back here. I've been talking to other collectors and have heard similar experience from many people.
I neglected to mention it in the video, but these 100% scammers still has active listings on Catawiki that are 100% scams as well. I failed to make Catawiki take any action despite talking to them and despite them admitting its a scam, they keep delaying, like a scammer would.

If you put fees at the buyer, you are a scam to begin with. A buyer wants to see an inclusive price. And they spam Marktplaats with clickbait ads, which is a lot of negative publicity.
