    In today’s video, I’m going to share with you how to improve your baseball skills at home, because let’s face it - sometimes we can’t make it to the field or the batting cages.
    The first drill you can do at home is a modified version of the fence drill using a towel. You’ve probably done the hitting drill where you put the knob of the bat on your stomach, then inch your way up until the end of your bat hits the fence. From there, you take regular swings and try to avoid hitting the fence. This helps you stay connected and short to the ball. Do the same drill, just use a towel instead! That way your parents are not upset about you swinging a baseball bat in the house.
    The next drill you can do at home is solo toss. This is another hitting drill that I think you’ll really enjoy. All you need is a baseball or a softer ball (like a tennis ball) if you’re doing it inside. Simply toss the ball up with your bottom hand, then come through and catch it with your top hand. You can even work on your contact points by throwing the ball in different locations.
    Next up is an infield drill to work on our footwork. Remember, it should be right, left, catch… then right, left, throw. (flip that if you’re left-handed.)
    Outfielders get left out from practice quite a bit because there’s not as many drills for them. You’re in luck with this video. Work on going from a catch to your throwing position, then work on going from a fielding position to your throwing position.
    Wall Ball is another great drill any player at any age can do at home. All you need is a wall and a tennis or lacrosse ball. Work on fielding different hops and developing soft hands!
    The last drill is base running, specifically working on taking your leads. This will help you dramatically improve once you’re playing in a real game.

    Your videos have helped me with batting a lot! I hit a ball out of the field in the game... unfortunatly it was a foul ball but if it was fair it was a homerun!

    For leads at first, we prefer left, right, shuffle. This minimizes potential for turning your back to the pitcher.

    Hey coach Justin you’ve said many times that Derek Jeter is your favorite player not only is he your favorite player but he’s my favorite player of all time he’s the hole reason why I play for my high school team. Anyway coach I really want to end my season with a Derek Jeter swing...so I’m really hoping you can make a Derek Jeter swing analysis. Thanks coach Justin. Tip of the hat.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Julian! That would be a great player to do an analysis on. I'll try to make that happen. Derek Jeter is definitely one of my favorites. I'm not sure about favorite player though!

    How would you stop a10 year old from flicking his wrist when throwing. He has a flick straight down from his wrist.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as the flick is pronation with his wrist, that's okay. I would have him throw a football with you in the backyard for a little while, because in order to throw a spiral he must pronate his wrist properly. Another thing he can think about is trying to bring his throwing hand thumb to the opposite front pocket - so if he's a righty, bring his right thumb to his left pocket.
