this reminds me of OG Dragon Ball. The focus on martial arts, the short protagonist who seems to know little about the outside world. a taller companion who seems to be mostly a non-combatant who starts Ringo's journey for the plot McGuffins (map pieces). semi-common animal people. I'm excited.
its funny how many little things you catch when you actually start to learn how to speak Japanese. The characters name is Ringo, which is a Japanese word for Apple. And her head looks like an apple. Ive come to realize that the Japenese are very symbolic when it comes to naming characters and often sneak in little jokes and references into the names of characters.
Neat concept of combining words to make your attacks, it takes the whole "Special attack name" trope and makes it a gameplay mechanic where the better your word combo the better the attack...I like it, I'll be keeping an eye on this especially since it's gonna hit the Switch.

Of course, the actual reason being it was incomplete, with an ending that comes out of nowhere and several systems that were obviously half baked seems to have become industry standard at this point.
If this game becomes popular i can tell you this right now. We will be seeing more of our main character in some other....places. probably on Twitter from those....artist.

Also this is so fun and the end shot with all the vhs tapes makes me super nostalgic...it makes me think of going to the library and renting all the ranma 1/2 tapes i could just bc they were there, which was amazing to 12 yo me in 2004. All different seasons, dub and sub...it was dire times. But i mean that in the best qay possible here. This just...makes me immediately feel fond, and the gameplay itself looks really really great. People have taked for years about about a game using a mechanic like this, so its great to finally see it done!!!
'Play an anime' would have been a more impressive tagline about 20 years ago if not 30. These days, there are an abundance of games that look exactly like their broadcast animation source material (to the point where assets from the 3D animated portions of the shows can be recycled for use in game and hardly anyone notices)as well as homages made around the world.

This scratched the OG Dragon Ball itch in a way I never knew it could. The concept of fighting by making up move names has a lot of potential, too. Definitely gotta keep an eye on this one
