Took some notes for myself, so I figured I'd share!
Put lids on your bins and label with what's inside
•Have one bin for things too big to put a lid on
•Roll your clothes for more space, and put in a trash bag rather than a suitcase
•Leave everything you can in it's packaging
•Carry breakable items yourself. keep them in one package altogether
•suitcase and backpack get daily use things (especially moving outfit!)
•If you have already opened your laundry hamper, pack things in there too
•Don't go to the closest stores by your school, they're probably sold out
•Wait to buy anything super inconvenient to move if you can
•have a few checklists so you don't forget to bring anything important!
•pack the things you don't use daily early on (especially unopened products)
•bring water when you move in!
•your dorm is probably dirty. Bring cleaning supplies and get cleaning ASAP

for the trash bags it also works in the other direction too where you poke a hole in the bottom of the bag for the hangers and that way you can tie off at the bottom... both ways works this way I found works better for me with how my dorms were. it differs person to person and form to dorm.
in short get your clothes in a bag whichever way the go in it mays un packing so easy.

If you must open your bedding, it’s helpful to have vacuum sealing bags to make things smaller, I did that with my mattress topper and now it’s back to it’s original size when it was delivered.

see, now I'm the exact oposite. I've always been a last minute packer. This year is my sophomore year and I started packing things away starting in the beginning of July this year. What did I do last year? Had my friends come over the night before to pack all my shit.

    • @sierragray3594
      @sierragray3594 ปีที่แล้ว

@@laurenhiggins9197 It really just depends on my mood tbh, this will be my senior year and sometimes I’ll think of something I want to bring and I’ll just put it in the corner of my room and then other times I still just wait until the night before. I’m lucky to only live an hour and 20 minutes from my school so if I forget something it’s really not a big deal because I have my own car and drive home on weekends I’m not busy

“Wait to bring your winter stuff” me, who is going to college on one of Michigan’s Great Lakes… at orientation when people where asking about the A/C their response was “no we don’t have that the REAL question is if we have heat, and we do AND it works”

One thing I have always done was when moving in I had a bag that had tissue, paper towels, cleaning products, bug spray, soap and etc. handy. It was always one of the most important bags because when moving in things get lost or tossed around and since I have to drive a far distance to go to school I have the tissue and things handy already instead of having them packed and looking around for them. This has always helped me wonders.

I agree with the keeping things in the packaging, but you might wanna take out your sheets/ comforter to wash them then you can put them right back. And the mattress topper needs a chance to expand or so you can see if there’s any damages.
