The development of character is bang on the money. Season 1, we see V appeared to be completely in control of her life. Season 2, she was injured physically, being kidnapped by the creepy old guy. Season 3, we see her emotions completely unraveling right before our eyes. Feeling abandoned by her mother, the world and her unrequited love for Eve, V is tired and broken. We see underneath her luxury apartments, designer cloths, she is vulnerable and fragile like a normal person.
Excellent your answer. One of the few very specific explanations about the development of this excellent series. I already said that this season we see a more sensitive, more human Villanelle, who continues to murder by profession, but is not happy. Will V & Eve ever meet to be happy? Excelente tu respuesta.
Villanelle will never be a normal person. I don't believe she's in love with Eve. Her line "You're mine" was not meant to be romantic, it's ownership. She quite literally views Eve as hers, not as a person but as a shiny toy. Her conversation with Aaron about her liking to 'collect' things made that even more clear. Villanelle is incapable of love, at least in a healthy sense, she's a psychopath. When Konstantin told Eve that "She'll love you to death" that was a warning she should have taken. Villanelle is a fun character to watch, but she's not someone any healthy, normal person would ever want to be involved with. While the fangirl in me wants to see her have a happy end with Eve, realistically that would never happen in real life. You can't cure psychopathy, no amount of loving a psychopath will ever 'fix' them. But I guess that's the beauty of the show, she's showing just enough humanity to make you question her intentions, to make you feel for her. She's a pro at faking emotions. Pretty sure her first meeting with Eve proves that when she breaks down at the kitchen table and Eve, instead of buying into her tears, calls her an asshole.
@@calliestreet1178 what you said is so perfect. I agree, that it would be good to see Eve and Villanelle together but it wouldn’t make sense and it would ruin Villanelle’s complex character; especially since she’s a psychopath
KE is one of the first shows to genuinely and successfully humanize a 'psychopath' and make the audience empathize with her. She doesn't care for killing but she'll do it, she doesn't feel anything not by choice but by trauma. Her own mother has caused so more irreversible trauma to her that she doesn't know who she is anymore. It's fantastic how raw her emotions are shown when she actually feels them.
And that is why I think Jodie Comer is perfect for this role. Not only is the writing of the character is successful but the performance of the actor portraying the character that actually counts because at the end of the day... the actor is the one who provides all this material for us to see and think about. She deserves another Emmy and I can't stress this enough!
@@tainahttps i totally agree with your comment as well as the original. I find myself captivated and more in love with this show with time. And considering it's generalized theme, that is a tremendous compliment and accomplishment for the actresses/writer (pwb).
Man the part when Eve say to her that it is so mutch easier to be like her I just started crying at the fact that these words must have hurt her so bad, imagine not feeling anything, not beeing able to love and to understand what love is, imagine feeling trapped in your own mind, to not have someone that really trust you and cares about you, I'm sure it is not easier to be like her.
That must be rough... and I mean ROUGH. After all that she's starting to realize and acknowledge her feelings and find the true power and control within herself. And we will be there to watch and support her throughout the entire story!!
This is by far my favorite edit. It really ties in Villanelle's humanity and vulnerability with her character development. I don't think she's a psychopath, she experiences way too much emotion way too deeply when she does. I think she's disconnected from herself as a protective measure, and dissociation is a symptom of trauma. One of the biggest clues was from the 3rd season, where Konstantin tells her after finding out she killed her mother, that she was supposed to "grow up and realize her mother was crazy." Tie that in with Villanelle telling her mother to admit who she really is, and that "I am my mother's daughter," seemed to me an admission that she also suffers from mental illness. I'm glad she has Eve, someone stable that understands, loves, accepts, and respects her. That will go a long way in helping Villanelle return to Oksana so she can heal and grow.
There is a difference between sociopath and psychopath. Sociopaths are made by physical or emotional abuse or severe trauma experienced during childhood which means they are made and psychopaths are born this way! So even though her mom claims "she was bad from the beginning" while she denies it saying that's a lie and that she was happy and she did cry as a kid, maybe she had some signs of psychopathy, but how she turned out I think it's due to her childhood trauma and upbringing! And of course we all saw how manipulative the 12 are through Helene... So yeah I don't believe she is actually a born psychopath but more like a sociopath. They made her like that. Villanelle is a psychopath. Oksana might be a sociopath or something else entirely which I truly hope that we will see in 4th season.
This is such a brutally beautiful edit. The parallel "i dont wanna do this anymore" between S1 and S3 is so stark, she is clearly struggling. Uhg Jodie Comer was perfect for this role.
My heart... She had gone from so far. She has been through so much things... She's a mess right now. So tired and overwhelmed. Totally breakdown. I hope Eve gonna reach her, take her up with comfort and love and hug her tight.
Dear lord I almost cry with the whole Konstantin and Villanelle, I feel BOTH of their pains because I for sure understand why Konstantin has the need to choose Irina, but I know he's heart is with V as well, he loves them both as daughters. And at this point Konstantin is the only one who feels like family for Villanelle, I'm 100% sure she even feels the same way about Irina, which breaks my heart in a 1000 pieces. I think Konstantin is a dead man walking and I'm so fucking sad because of that, I just hope to the heavens he doesn't betrays V.
Yeah, their situation is so tragic because both of them feel the same way deep down but they never really spoke out loud about it... and like, in a way they need to vocalize their feelings to reassure each other but I don't think it will happen... I mean, I'm very sad for Villanelle and I have a feeling Konstantin might actually betray her again... or we will end up losing him and he and Villanelle never get to have a normal conversation about how much they mean to one another and I just... it's too much pain.

Why didn't I come across this video before? it's beautiful. it makes me feel so many different emotions combined. jodi comer is an incredible actress. villanelle is the most underrated character, she deserves a normal life, i wish things were going better for her and eva in season 4, but the finale will probably be tragic. Thank you so much for this great video 🥺
I love this story so so much.. When Villanelle tells Eve she loves her in Rome, then she replies with “No, you don’t understand what that is” broke me BC she clearly does and was literally just trying to heal her own trauma to be better for Eve, mostly in the long run, like she knew she wanted and needed for both of them.. like if somebody tries to tell me love can’t do that to a person, I will never agree with u:)
this broke my heart oh my godddddd. I love how her character is developing, it feels so natural. in a fucked up way i identify with her, especially this stage. For all my life I was what you'd call a narcissist, didn't care about anyone but myself, stole shit and gaslit people. got obsessed with people, had turbulent friendships. I thought that's just how I was. then three really dramatic life events happened (friendship of many years ended, was bereaved twice over, and my relationship got serious). When all these things connected I seemed to just start splintering mentally, I've been having these horrible meltdowns for a few years now to the point I recently had to go on medication to keep me calm. I never felt guilt before, cared about how other people felt, I felt disgust toward almost everyone. I knew I had been through a lot of trauma in my life but I didn't realise just how much I was repressing. When you use repression to shield yourself from pain, you lose your humanity. I think that's whats happened to villainelle, and a mixture of things including meeting eve - someone who not only returns her infatuation but seems to accept her even in her darkest form - and killing her mother seem to have opened the floodgates. I'm so excited to see where this goes.
You say all this with the understanding of what emotions such as empathy, sympathy, remorse etc is, but V wouldn't feel things the way we do. She doesn't have the capacity to understand feeling and emotions. This is just her life and always has been so for her it's not a matter of living an easy life or a difficult one..this is just her life. She may be unraveling because she doesn't understand how to process emotions such as grief, guilt, psychological trauma but she is a psychopath and will always have psychopathic tendencies. We want to romanticize her character but she is what she is.
its creepy,,funny,,,hateful,,,loving,,,sickning,,,but i still keep watching,,,thank you infinitex,,;),,,now i got to see what happened on supergirl,,,,
I think Irena (is that the name of Konstantin’s daughter?) hit her mom’s boyfriend with the car not because she’s a sociopath but because she wanted her father’s undivided attention. She sees him put his job before his family over and over again, *Villanelle the sociopath* is his job, so what is she to do to get his attention and his love? I think that’s probably how she thinks of it. Funny thing, Villanelle thinks the opposite: that he puts his family over *her*. They have a sibling rivalry without even being siblings :P

Eve will help her. She's the only one who can at this point.
@@Infinitex I hope so
@@omatosh8108 interesting, I wonder how that would play with Villanelle
It’s so sad
Beautiful video. Thank you
Thank you so much!
What a beautiful video ❤
Thank you!
I feel like she loves older women because her mother couldn’t love her enough as much as she knows eve would or her old teacher would
this broke my heart oh my godddddd.

Amazing editing!
Thank you so much!

Thank YOU for watching!
beautiful
Thank you!
They have a sibling rivalry without even being siblings :P
fucking nailed it.
really really great
Thanks!!
