    Why does realistic space warfare actually look creepy as all hell? The cold, colorless and straight forward designs, the lack of sound yet efficiency of the weapons.
    Ironically it looks almost alien.

      Thats whats cool about designing things purely by our mathematic and scientific understandings, if aliens tried building similar tech i guarantee you it would look very similar to ours, if not then you’d probably be able to identify it. Thats assuming aliens have similar knowledge as us

      Hard to sure , it probably the thumbnail, or title , no video tags , but if this guy try to make a video game have realistic physics , good graphics , good A.I behaviors, maybe his work can become more famous ,
      - but just because a video look high quality VFX doesn't means it will become famous , soundtrack , title , sound effect , context play a big role in it, look at melodysheep videos, life beyond 2 famous almost reaching 20M views not just because of quality VFX but also because of soundtrack, it sound good at almost every moment ,
      - unlike life beyond 3, at moments have duration like minutes, the soundtrack felt silent , or no soundtrack at all , which is why LB3 only have 8M views while having better VFX footages

      Hollywood is about making cinematic experiences, not realistic ones. If a movie is not “realistic” it’s because they choose not to. The people who nitpick every single detail in a film seem to think filmmakers are dumb. They forget they have hundreds of artists, animators, engineers, writers, storytellers, researchers, etc. working to make a good movie, and they know the majority of people just want to have a good time, not watch a documentary.

    Cool stuff. Ever read "Forever War"? Their space battles were light minutes or even light hours apart. The first ship to spot their enemy fires lasers, projectiles, missiles and such, where the computers believe the enemy ship will be 30 mins ago or a few hours. So they are essentially fighting each other in the past.
    The people in the ships strap into space suits and are emersed in a liquid vat that dampens their molecules from being blown apart due to the g-forces the ship will under go firing back and making themselves harder to hit. It is a battle between AI, math and physics.
    I found these battles interesting as hell. Nothing is 'current' its all predictive. If your ship finds an enemy ship in your system that's 30 light minutes away (the Sun is like 8-9 minutes away), and you start firing, they won't be hit for another 30 minutes to days later. So you will not fire directly at them, but where you think they will be 30 mins from now. Cause you spotted the ship 30 mins in your past. If they spotted you first by 30 minutes, your ship will be under laser fire before you even knew the enemy was there.

    0:45 - This sounds like a question from a SciFI novel 50 years ago but I wager it will truly be answered within the next 50 years:
    Whipple shields work by using the energy of an object against itself. How large or heavy does something need to be before it punches right through multiple layers of whipple shielding, I wonder?

    I remember years and years ago, a few people got together and did this exact kind of warfare in Kerbal Space Program. As it was (and I'm pretty sure still IS) the most accurate space flight simulator, the battles were pretty dang accurate to real life.

    holy sh*t that spaceship. I think that is legitimately one of the most realistic depictions of a manned military spacecraft we would be capable of building right now. No/ very few solar panels but very large heat dissipation arrays, nuclear thermal propulsion and power generation, and armed with high powered lasers and missiles. Gun PDCs would probably not be installed as they would massively imbalance the ship when firing and would be of doubtful effectiveness against projectiles flying with orbital velocities. Anti missile missiles or laser PDCs might work though. Also one thing I missed in the design are the large (phased array) radar arrays a military ship would undoubtedly have installed to surveil the space around it, unless it would receive its information from other satellites around it or a spotter ship which would also work.

    • @henrycooper3431
      @henrycooper3431 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ships spot no solar panels, those are all radiators (pause at 0:35 and you will see it glows in the bottom left corner).
      There are interception missiles but this cruiser doesnt carry any as Area Interceptor will be providing that and Battleship plus Missile Carrier get it because important assets.
      That rectangular ship you see in the scenes is a giant foldable radar array on engine so it probably is providing the information, if i have to guess tho then the cruiser is probably using a radar system inside the ship similar to modern jet.

    Don't get me wrong, the Expanse and games like Elite Dangerous do well for harder sci-fi space combat, but this is the magnum opus of what hard sci-fi space battles should look like.
