I'm a black African American woman and I grew up in Chicago with 5 siblings. We were poor until we grew up went to college and got my Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Too much crime in the streets now. I get sick and tired of the violence and the racist going on in the world today. Watching you in this video means a lot to me and you have inspired me to live in the woods. Things are so peaceful and pretty in the woods and I'm thinking hard about doing the same. I get tired of all the bills and taxes on my property and I don't have any clue into how to build my cabin and house . ❤❤❤❤ You're amazing 🤩🤩🤩

Blizzard isn't defined by snow amount it's a definition of visibility mainly less than a quarter mile visibility for 3 hours or more and winds excess of 35mph... In the right conditions a dry 2 inches of snow can lead to blizzard conditions.... The killer traditionally of blizzards was getting lost then freezing to death in the old days farmers would tie a rope from the house to the barn and privy because people died by getting lost walking 50 to 100 feet...

Love your videos, as they are examples of how it's done. I like how you show when you need wood, you go and look for a tree that has fallen & already has dry wood. The dry, already seasoned by nature, wood burns better. If green wood is used it will cause build up in the chimney, which will start a fire in the chimney & could burn down the cabin if you don't catch it. And we wouldn't want that to happen the coldest night where one could get frost bitten. Hope your chickens & ducks are ok. I liked the one time when you brought your chickens inside from the cold. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas to you, Ceirra & Skeeter. Take care.

Kyle, not sure if anyone mentioned it but you could get yourself a collapsible roof rake. You could easily remove the snow from the roof, which will allow those icicles to be eliminated in no time. Also, you could use the snow that has fallen from the roof to buffer around the cabin.

Great video Kyle! I/we agree and support your philosophy! We live in Fort Collins Colorado & I’m also building a cabin in the mountains(we have a little land-3acres). I worked in Alaska for 5 years when I was in my 20’s & love the outdoors!! Keep up the great videos & Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you also!!

Your videos bring much joy to so many. The simple things are what most are missing I feel. It take hard work and allot of effort and that may scare some. 100% agree your lifestyle over being a gym rat any day. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Cierra!

Kyle, I'm stoked the cabin held up well in that cold snap... thick snow around the crawl space and snow on the roof looked to definitely help. Merry Xmas to you and yours!

*I am 70 and having been where you are years ago in Vermont, the 100% BEST investment I ever made was in an efficient wood stove. Not only will it cook you out in ANY temp, the savings in wood --- and the less frequent stoking at night -- was just a dream. Yeah they are expensive, I got mine on a local for sale board way cheap, it needed a new gasket which was cheap and easy to install, and the multi wall chimney pipe is the real killer in $'s but I took my time and found a section here and there and before you know it you have it all. Also, BEWARE THE ICE DAMS!. Clear the edge ice off the roof before you leave, it can accumulate enough weight to pull down a wall I kid you not! Keep the spirit!*

Hey Kyle! Good to see y'all. Good video. It is beautiful out in the countryside isn't it? I love the snow, but stay out of it as much as possible. I can't move in it very much because of bad legs, which requires me to use a cane, sometimes even a walker, or wheelchair, plus I have arthritis in those legs! But I do love watching it snow just the same! Stay safe! MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you too!!

Merry Christmas Kyle and Sierra! I was just wondering if you could build a mini-A-frame or lean-to with a hinged front to cover your solar panels. Then when you shovel all the snow away and flip the front cover back over the top, your panels would be free of snow and ready to receive that precious sunlight! God Bless and Happy New Years!

I agree the best Gym is outside working away. We don't get such low temperatures here in Ireland but I still at 82 cut up a lot of wood for my woodburner by hand. The draft proofing using snow was a genius idea. Regards, Jim the Brit in NI UK

Merry Christmas Kyle and Cierra! A question, why don't you put a tarp of some kind over the solar cell panel to keep it clean in snowy weather, then you can just remove the tarp to charge?
