    How do artistic kinships develop? What common passions unite creatives? Conceived and hosted by Hans Ulrich Obrist, ‘Intersections in Art’ brings together practitioners across art forms. Globally renowned artist and set designer Es Devlin exchanges here on poetry, more-than-human intelligence, ecology, poetry and other affinities with Lionheart and Merlin Sheldrake.
    Curated in collaboration with Hans Ulrich Obrist and Serpentine.

    ‣ Es Devlin creates large-scale sculptural installations that combine light, music and language. Her work has been displayed at Tate Modern, Serpentine, V&A, Barbican, Imperial War Museum and Trafalgar Square.
    She has created stage sculptures for Beyonce, The Weeknd and U2, The Royal Opera House, National Theatre, La Scala and The Met Opera as well as the 2022 Super Bowl featuring Dr Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem and the 2012 London Olympic Closing Ceremony.
    She was the subject of the Netflix documentary ‘Abstract: the Art of Design, and has been awarded multiple Olivier, Tony and Emmy awards, as well as an Ivor Novello award and a CBE.
    The Thames & Hudson monographic publication An Atlas of Es Devlin, will be accompanied by an installation of Devlin’s 30 year archive at The Smithsonian, Cooper Hewitt Museum of Design in New York in November 2023.
    ‣ Merlin Sheldrake is a biologist and author of Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds, and Shape Our Futures, a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller, and winner of the Royal Society Book Prize and the Wainwright Prize. Sheldrake is a research associate of the Vrije University Amsterdam, and works with the Society for the Protection of Underground Networks and the Fungi Foundation.
    ‣ Rhael ‘LionHeart’ Cape Hon FRIBA is a Multi-Disciplinary Artist exploring Architecture & Poetry's relationship around emotional inhabitance, and its connection to memory and mental health. One of the first Associate Artists of The Royal Albert Hall in over 150 years and Poet in Residence at 180 The Strand, previously the first Poet in Residence at Saatchi Gallery. Special participant at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (2023), curated by Lesley Lokko OBE. An honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for his contribution to architecture.
    ‣ Hans Ulrich Obrist (Zurich, Switzerland) is Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, Senior Advisor at LUMA Arles, and Senior Artistic Advisor at The Shed in New York. Prior to this, he was the Curator of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Since his first exhibition ‘World Soup: The Kitchen Show’ in 1991, he has curated more than 350 shows. Obrist’s recent publications include Ways of Curating (2015), The Age of Earthquakes (2015), Lives of the Artists, Lives of Architects (2015), Mondialité (2017), Somewhere Totally Else (2018), The Athens Dialogues (2018), Maria Lassnig: Letters (2020), Entrevistas Brasileiras: Volume 2 (2020), and 140 Ideas for Planet Earth (2021).
