Valuetainers, YOU are the reason why I wrote this book. “Your next five moves” is a book I wish I had in my hands when I was 25. It would’ve saved me millions and helped me do everything I’ve done in half the time. Can’t wait to get it in your hands. Pay, this is tearing at me a bit. I’m about to launch a Crowdfunding campaign to enter a really competitive market and I have been thinking of leaning into the audacity of “just coming out of the blocks hard”, getting people psyched on being pat’s of the 1st percent of something huge. Maybe even highlighting the fact that 99% of people do it the sensible way, we want to be the radical 1%. Thoughts?? 😀🕺🏻🎥🏖🇦🇺
I am specializing like a consulting engineer, focus on adding value in 2-3 types of activities, with a great team of professionals in their fields. When we will grow and stabilize to a certain level, adding more value proposals to new clients and contracting more employees/partners I think is the rational path for prosperity.
First of all, you are a real teacher I been following you along with my university studies. Today I think you shared a very golden insight, I am pretty sure it's 'the secret' and all entrepreneurs must study this. 👏
This is excellent. I have always tried to generalize and do many things at once now I see the importance of specializing many aspects of my life and work
*Specialization seems to have real big benefits, but if one goes that route i think its important to keep training the brain to learn new things perhaps completely unrelated, so the brain remembers how to learn new things faster,*
Great video Patrick - This is mistake that I’ve made many times. When I focused on one service we built our 500 staff agency from this... it is a trap to try and sell everything when starting in business. Jack of all trades master on none - comes to mind. PS let’s all support PAT and get the book - I have ordered mine 👌
Wow, this is an awesome video! I was struggling with my photography business and now I Know I need to specialize first and be great at something and later generalize little by little; thank you!
Dammit Patrick this is EXACTLY what I'm doing right now!!!!!!!!!! Man I needed this. To me this was just my own common sense. Now I know I'm on the right path, simply because I heard it from the master. Thank You!!!!!!! UPWARD AND ONWARD!!!!!!!!!
Great content👍🏻. Keep pushing peoples envelope and enable them to think for themselves. Sometimes you also have to reverse specialisation because the road has come to an end.
Thank you for another amazing video! I think this video is your best so far. Perfect choice of examples and you talked about all the methods in a short span amount of time.
I'm a hip-hop artist and started out by specializing at first, I only did the vocals, and had the mixing and mastering done by an engineer, the beat produced by a producer, the artwork done by a graphic designer, and the lyric video done by a video editor. However, i've been trying to learn and takeover all these roles so I can take care of 100% of the means of production, as it costs quite a bit of money to delegate every task to someone else. But it's been quite hard, as i'm having difficulty learning how to do all of those other things and can't do them as well as other people can. I've been wondering for a while whether it's better for me to specialize and let other people handle the other stuff and just take the financial bullet, or generalize and try and do everything myself, even if it's lower quality?
This video is geared for businesses. For most employees it may make more sense to specialize. Most entrepreneurs usually have to wear many hats. I've been both but I remember when I was an employee I was never one to say that it's not my department. My mentor and former boss, a very wealthy man, allowed me to work in all departments and that was set me off to starting my own business. Too many employees, especially Engineers, are notorious for saying things such as "that's not my department". Perhaps Pat can make a video from moving from a specialized employee to entrepreneur.
When he was employed he was a generalist. When he started PHP he went specialist into life insurance. Do you think thats all he'll do with a company called People Helping People? He'll branch out into other areas when the time is right.
Facebook started with university students at just a few universities then expanded to more universities eventually expanding to people in the US and then people everywhere.
"Wealth is created by specialization and preserved by diversification" .
Rujo Onye wow good one
a better way of phrasing it could be "wealth is started by specialisation but grows by diversification".
gabriel onibudo disagree.
Awesome quote
@@gabrielonibudo5710 It grows much more quickly by specialization in my experience. I think he worded it right.
This guy makes me feel extremely at ease and comfortable.

*Five
All the best on your next move Patrick 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I need it in ebook
Focus is the key! 💪
*It's key to niche down in the beginning. What are you know for? Then once you're established you can add other tools to your belt.* 😉
Great takeaway, this principle applies to investing too
Focus, then diversify after a certain point
Are you currently specializing or generalizing?
I'm specialised for the first time in my life. All in cash, keeping it simple and trying to be nimble while I'm waiting for a bit of clarity and value
Specializing
I am specializing like a consulting engineer, focus on adding value in 2-3 types of activities, with a great team of professionals in their fields. When we will grow and stabilize to a certain level, adding more value proposals to new clients and contracting more employees/partners I think is the rational path for prosperity.
Specializing
I Opened a one year ago my own Business DREAM SERVICES and needed that advice, 1st. Specialize and then Generalize...Thanks Patrick
Start off by focusing win one thing and expand from there

I'ma buy your book just to support you Pat because I love your content man.
I have ordered your book, can't wait to read it. Meanwhile I am getting into business studies, the time is now!
Specialise (necessary) early, so you become a generalist (enjoyable) later.
got ya again
I really appreciated this short and concise video, Patrick. I will apply what I learned from this.
Even here bro. It's almost like your omnipresent

The original money in the economy was labor and value so either way, do something valuable and prosper.
Found this at the right time.

In my field Specialisation is the only way forward.
What field?
@@hectorcardenas2171 MBBS(Doctor).
Great post for people to listen and follow in growing their business. Especially in these times, the name of the game is focus.
This is a very important that is pointed out here in order to build a solid foundation!
It’s pretty ironic how you can do much more by limiting yourself in the beginning....I had learn this the hard way 😂
The way i look at it is, it never hurts to learn something new.
This Chanel with Patrick is a godsend💯
Great content!!! Thank You for that.

very needed video thank you so much Mr Bet-David.
Great Video! This reassured me that I am doing the right things at this phase of my business growth.
Great content👍🏻. Keep pushing peoples envelope and enable them to think for themselves. Sometimes you also have to reverse specialisation because the road has come to an end.

🔥🔥 content thanks man!!
Thank you Patrick your videos are really helpful. I am in my journal to build a business.
This guy is amazing big up from Portugal
Do you think we live in a world of increasing specialization that inherently makes us more dependent on society?
yeah but it seems to bring more good than harm for the most part.
Pat I love Hugo Boss jogger suits .. I had the black one with white pipes along the side. Very comfortable and doesnt look too casual
Learned alot from this video.
I agree, specialize. More is not always better
💯 brotha!
Love your work ethic Patrick. You’re truly inspiring ✨
I love you lol
James Gallant haha love you too

Thanks man! This applies to other areas of building a life as well!
Very helpful regardless of my specialized profession. There's so much more to monetize than I ever initially conceptualized.
Great content. Your book is brilliant.

Good example you gave about amazon. Very helpful though try one thing master than slowly gradually try another and another.
Book comes out on my birthday! That’s a sign! 🙏🏻 can’t wait to be an author one day too
This guy is great teacher
pat you are hero
Good video Mr. Pat. 👌👌 First do what you are good at. Then expand. 😄😄
Needed this, thanks Pat !
What an easy explanation!
Missed these kinda videos.
Pat: generalist to specialized
Every other example: specialized to generalist
There's always exceptions I suppose. Either way, analysis is always needed.
When he was employed he was a generalist. When he started PHP he went specialist into life insurance. Do you think thats all he'll do with a company called People Helping People? He'll branch out into other areas when the time is right.
This is REALLY helpful. Thank You!
Thank you for this. This was something i needed to hear.
What we need now is a conduct to bring together business and aspiring entrepeneurs. More practical steps!
Thank You for this very valuable
Brilliant video
Well needed
My Business mentor said the same thing to me 2 days ago. He introduced me to "The Beach Head Strategy". I'd advise all small businesses to look it up.
there are only two channels on TH-cam I have notifications turned on. One of them is yours
I want the book NOW!! :) Patrick, it would be nice if we could get digital version because now shipment to EU could take a while.
Facebook started with university students at just a few universities then expanded to more universities eventually expanding to people in the US and then people everywhere.
