I want you and your wife to watch Up. Prepare the tissues.
I would love to see you guys watch these Pixar family/animated type movies, if you haven’t done so I’ll like to you guys to watch Cars, The Incredibles, Toy Story, Over The Hedge and others
Please do Lilo and Stitch (2001) the first one - I think you'll like it.. Awesome Disney classic. Same animation style as cartoon classics (I know you mentioned you like Prince of Egypt). thanks for brightening up our days! :) take care and hope your family is happy and healthy.
Soul
Please keep doing Pixar classics!! The Incredibles is one of my favorite movies of all time
Mary Gibbs (the voice of Boo) is a friend of mine and she really is a very sweet gal. She loves doing conventions and meeting her fans and even kids who were shown the movie because of the parents showing it and them loving it. It really is a timeless classic movie that I know will never lose it's way to entertain any age
Would she be interested in an interview?
@@HoldenHardman I've interviewed her on my channel before, I don't see why not!
Put that thing back where it came from or ao help meee
"Kitty" ❤
Holy crap, that is awesome!!😃 do ppl ask her to say "Mike Wazowksi!"?😅
The running gag of covering Mike actually came to DVD as well. They were shipped with a sticker that covered him on the cover.
Prince of Egypt slaps SO HARD. The star-studded cast, the incredible music, the beautiful animation. Definitely needs a vid.
Oh please do this movie!
Is "slaps" good? Is the movie biblically accurate?
They did with My Friend Watches
I would like to see Jen watch though
@@MeesdeFilmliefhebber
@@SJHFoto Yes, "slaps" is good lol. They take some creative liberties with a few things, but ultimately nothing affects the faithfulness to the story too much. They are telling the entire story of Moses' birth to the Isrealites escape from Egypt in an hour and a half, so not everything is perfect. Definitely a billion times more faithful to the source material than something like "Noah" was.
The part with Randall in the trailer makes me laugh every single time. "Another gator?!" That type of humor is right up my alley. I love this movie and it was such a huge surprise to me when it came out. This is definitely one of Pixar's best movies and I really, really hope you do react to more because Pixar had some real masterpieces. Please, please react to 'The Incredibles'. That movie is a whole lot of fun.
If you're a southerner, it's even funnier. 😆
There are SO many good Pixar films, even the recent ones. Y'all gotta check out at least a few more! Incredibles, Toy Story, Coco, Soul, WALL-E, etc. So many to choose from.
Oh, I do LOVE Coco
Soul? Eh...Coco was probably the last real banger Pixar put out- compare it to something like Puss in Boots 2 and it doesn't hold a candle
@@BichaeldeAngelo Yes, I included the Pixar film that won 2 Oscars & dozens of other awards and that I personally enjoy.
@@jmacmall I actually really liked soul too, I just feel it isn't really universally beloved- don't get me wrong it's certainly much greater than Cars 2 or The Good Dinosaur, it's probably on par with Onward but I just don't think it'll be remembered in the same way as a Finding Nemo, WALL-E or Coco...even among kids I believe it hasn't done very well in terms of merchandise.
There are animated classics, both vintage and modern (Frozen, Moana to name a couple) but there are also films that were good (Raya and the Last Dragon comes to mind) that people just don't recognize
@@jmacmall I would also add that the year was 2021 when Soul won, a year in which it's only real competition WAS onward because of the pandemic
The ending with Boo saying "Kitty!" gets me every single time.
I’m a grown ass man in my 30’s and have seen this movie a hundred times and it still happens to me too
yup, tears form where no tears were before.
I lose my mind when she says Kitty really sad when they're saying goodbye.
Was not expecting a Pixar movie! There are so many well written animated gems, would love to see more.
I second the Prince of Egypt being the next animated watch. It stands head and shoulder above anything else. The cast, the directing, the score, and if you’re into that sort of thing, the BIBLICAL significance all rolled into the most impressive thing dreamworks has ever achieved.
I wanna thank you for not saying that Prince of Egypt is “underrated,” I’m SO SICK AND TIRED of people throwing around “underrated” so much on TH-cam! It’s annoying as hell. Prince of Egypt wasn’t underrated anyway… it did very well at the box office and the song “When You Believe” was actually a very big song
Important to note it's "biblical" significance, as historically its dangerously incorrect on many levels. Because especially as it relates to Egypt, there is basically no connection with any history we've found evidence for - and as egypt goes we have a lot.
@@Souledex so it’s inaccurate to the Bible?
@@nsasupporter7557no I believe they're saying it's accurate to the bible, but not accurate to any actual history.
This movie was the very first movie I ever saw in theaters . My parents took me to the theaters to see this, it became a household favorite years and years after. Fun fact Monsters Inc was one of the first animated films to be nominated for Best Animated Picture at the Oscars along with Shrek and Jimmy Neutron, Shrek ended up winning
Me too lol!
Me too! I was 3 years old at the time.
Me too!
Jimmy Neutron was nominated? What in tarnation
@@kevinzhang6623It definitely wasn't.
The last couple of minutes always tear my heart out. Laughter is the biggest power, carrying a piece of someone you love wherever you go and as you move in life despite the loss. but man that one moment at the end, the idea of hearing again the voice of someone you love, miss and never thought you'd hear again, and they call you lovingly by your nickname as if no time has ever passed? I always sob.
Monsters Inc is one of the best Disney Pixar movies ever. Can't believe it'll be 22 years since it was released. Absolutely heartwarming and nostalgic.
MAJOR props on the praise for The Prince Of Egypt. One of my all time favorite animated movies too. A straight up masterpiece. 👊
Prince of Egypt is REALLY good but The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston is better.
personally i would love a pixar binge, its a nice change of pace and i get a chance to relive my childhood
You guys should definitely do a Pixar binge. They're all so good and worth watching. Especially the new films.
Monster's University (2013) is pretty underrated, so it'd be awesome if you were to react to it as well!
Holden is right about Prince of Egypt being the best animated film ever.
The 00s was realy insane with animated moveis. Monsters inc, Finding nemo, incredables, cars, Wall-e. Up, Shrek, Sirit, Madagaskar, Kungfu panda,
We just came back from Hollywood Studios where my son met Sully for the first time. He's two and demands Monster's Inc. and/or University most nights. When he saw Sully, he had the biggest smile, ran full speed into his giant furry body.
This is my favorite movie of all time. My parents got it on VHS when it came out and I watched it so much that the tape actually broke only a few months after getting it. My high school graduation cap was related to it. loved the video!
Fun fact the CODE 2319 is referencing the letters of the alphabet W(23) and S(19) for white sock
Monsters Inc. is a classic. Also has a special place in my heart. Every year, our families would get together for Thanksgiving, about 12 kids and 10 adults. After eating, we'd go to the theater to watch the latest holiday-time movie. Monsters Inc. was out just in time for that tradition. Imagine 22+ people raiding the theater in Downtown Disney to watch this on the big screen. Was a memorable moment for sure.
Also, yes to The Incredibles and Toy Story!
I remember how like 10 Christmases ago I saw it theaters in 3D
@@wickedshadesproductions5254 interesting. I didn't know it came out in 3D. Would've loved to see that.
The monsters inc laugh factory is great. One dude fell asleep and while he was asleep the animation of mike was making fun of him. Everyone including his wife was laughing.😂
One of the most interesting scenes in this movie for me, is when Randall, Waternoose and Fungus are about to use the scream machine on Boo that you can really analyze their evil scale based on their individual reactions!
Randall is the only one out of the three that is truly evil and sadistic, as he isn't bothered one bit by the suffering the little girl was about to endure. All he cared about was how much this machine was going to earn him the recognition he believed he deserved!
Waternoose is visibly uncomfortable, and acknowledges how messed up using this machine is. However, he believes that it is a necessary evil in order to save the city of monsters! He is one of those villains that takes no pleasure in the evil actions they commit, but they genuinely believe that they're the only way to produce effective solutions.
Fungus isn't actually believe, and is only following Randall's orders because he fears him and is the most sympathetic towards Boo in that scene. Because he also experienced first hand what the machine will do to someone, he knows how much it was not only going to hurt Boo but also kill her as he barely survived upon recovering.
You can always tell many of these react channels have obviously seen the films before hand, but there’s no need for you guys to explain yourselves you can tell you are very genuine
Forget Toy Story 3, Forget Up, Sully grabbing Boo’s tiny little hand in his giant one as they say goodbye is the Pixar moment that makes me bawl my eyes out
Billy Crystal and John Goodman as Mike and Sully are dynamic duo that is unmatched and undeniable chemistry. You should watch the prequel film to this movie Monsters University where Mike and Sully first met years before working at Monsters Inc.
The mobile home that Randal gets banished to is the same house from Bug’s Life, where underneath is the “big city” that Flik finds the circus bugs at.
She now needs to watch ALL of the Pixar movies... and then discuss the Pixar Theory!
I definitely recommend inside out. I think that’s probably Pixar’s best or at least one of their best films they did.
Mary Gibbs (Boo) was the voice of Baby Riley from archive footage/ recordings.
there is bloopers for this movie, actual animated bloopers. like they were putting weird backgrounds for randall or they fall down and they laugh etc
Holden saying "Its Late" in the intro scene when he saw the clock just had me hunched over laughing. That was the most adult/ dad thing he could have said in reaction to this whole video, I laughed too hard for that but I'm glad I did.
The joke with Sulley fainting over and over again when he sees what he think is Boo going through the trash compactor, is inspired by the Chuck Jones cartoon Feed the Kitty where Marc-Anthony the bulldog watches in horror when he think his kitten friend Pussyfoot is being baked into a batch of cookies by his mistress and he faints over and over again in horror.
I love the conspiracy theory that boo grows up to be the friend in Red. She’s the only one that takes to the panda monster because she loves Sulley.
That's a good one, but her name is Abby and Boo's real name is Mary. Maybe she's related to Boo?
4:21 dude! yes! Such a great movie. And Prince of Egypt hits so differently when you’re an adult, especially if you’re an adult of faith.
2:19
Yeah, being born in 2001 will always make me remember how old movies like Monsters Inc, Shrek, the first Harry Potter, and Fellowship of the Ring are.
As well as other life changing events...
would love to see Jen’s reactions to the Toy Story series. By far my favorite of the pixar movies
Toy Story is so interesting in that... The concept is great, but pure childish fodder: what if toys were alive? In someone else's hands it would be just a fun adventure. In Pixar's hands however, it is existential angst masquerading as children's movies that reduces adults (like me) to puddles of tears. They're great.
Toy Story is one of those movies that is so iconic that she would have had to of seen it. She has a kid after all. It does slap tho. My favorite animate movie series.
It's like reacting to an R Kelly album, only a lot worse, knowing what we know now about Tom Hanks.
6:26 Mike was just happy to have been involved.
This is one Pixar's best films they made. Very glad Jen is giving it a chance. While I understand she doesn't watch a lot of animated films. I get it, but I do recommend you guys watch Studio Ghibli films. Studio Ghibli films are Japanese animated films, but however some of those films have some pretty deep stories. In fact, some of Studio Ghibli films are a little more mature than most of western animated films. I hope one day you guys decide to watch them in the near future.
YES! Ghibli would be great!
I would love to see some reactions to Ghibli's work, they are some of the best animated films ever made. Unfortunately it does come with the drawback of Ghibli being particularly harsh when it comes to copyright, so there is a certain level of risk there
Roz saying Mike Wazowski is always such a classic line! Would love to see more pixar movies like Up or Wall-e too. Even though Prince of Egypt isn't a pixar movie, it's one of my all time favorite animated films. Great art, story and music. Highly underrated, but a definite classic.
Would love to see Jen react to more of golden age Pixar, stuff like Toy Story, the Incredibles, WALL-E, Cars, etc
12:27 fun fact: In the original cut of the film, that was actually an explosion. But due to 9/11, it was later changed in fear of being of poor taste.
In my opinion this is the best Pixar movie, and it was released in the peak golden years of Pixar, back when they hade amazing ideas and even better execution
I’m sure someone has already commented about this, but you should also watch Monsters University. Both are great movies. I would love to see more reactions to Pixar movies.
The Latin Spanish dub is filled with memes. Ranging from cuidadito to 3312 instead of 2319 to the Argentine monster to pejelagarto, this film had me cracking up as a kid. I wish we could convert our laughter into sustainable energy for our planet.
Wow this movie still holds up to the test of time! I even felt a few tears because it brought back my childhood memories ☺️ if and when I have kids this is a classic I have to show them just like Shrek and Toy Story!
So glad Jen enjoyed this! There will be no complaints from me if Pixar is the next movie series yall go with. Their new movies like Luca and Elemental have been just as good as their old ones!
According to some fan theories the world of Monsters Inc is actually the world of post apocalyptic mutants. The doors allow them to travel back in time.
19:09 your wife’s reaction is the best
Randall’s assistant was voiced by *Frank Oz* - the man behind Yoda, Miss Piggy, Bert, Cookie Monster, Fozzie Bear, etc.
The guy in the with two eyes as individual heads looking at himself during the confession is my favorite
@Holden have always loved this film, thanks for this. I liked your discussion with your wife on this :). @Jen you continue to impress with your breakdown of what you like love and didn't... and the banter with you and hubby Holden is always fun :). Ty Both
I watched this in the theater with my parents, and the ending made me cry.😢
Monsters Inc is directed by Pete Docter who was directed Up, Inside Out and Soul. He (in my opinion) is Pixar's best director.
Monsters Inc was the first movie my parents ever took me to see in theaters. I can hardly even remember it as I was only 3 years old, but I love this movie so much.
That's my memory with the first Toy Story! Has always held.a.super special place in my heart for that reason
Holden realizing his fam is like the incredible means he's found the perfect Halloween costume idea. Have to do it quick tho, before the little one gets too old
This movie holds such a deep place in my heart. When I was about 6 I had a tv with a VHS player, and I had Monsters Inc. on VHS as well. Not even exaggerating, I watched this movie ever. single. night. for about 2 years straight. I will love and cherish this movie for the rest of my life.
My dog that I had for 13 years. Since I was a kid, I always called her, Kitty since she was small, and gentle. Sometimes I’d even say it like the kid does😂
When i was little my parents would call me 'Boo' because i looked so much like her. Big brown eyes, dark brown hair in pigtails and always wearing my favorite color, PINK!
TOMORROW IS THE 22nd ANNIVERSARY OF MONSTERS INC!!!!!! I actually got to see this back in 2020 in theaters, they were playing classic movies in theaters, same year I got to see Toy Story and Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone in theaters as well!!!!! Which all 3 were amazing to see in theaters!!!!
Having since seen The Big Lebowski, the scene where you meet Randall all I could hear in my head was Goodman saying, "Donny you're out of your element!"
I love how Jen went from "I don't know if I like animated stuff" to " so far it's been pretty good".
I tell myself every video "THERE IS NO WAY JEN HASNT SEEN THIS ONE" It's awesome tho cause I like seeing someones reaction to a movie they havent seen.
Ray Harryhauser first job was in 1940. After serving in WWII. He got more work in 1946 doing shorts. In 1949 his first major work began with Mighty Joe Young. He worked on movies until 1980/81. For Clash of the Titans (1981) was his last movie he did stop motion animation on. His 1950's -70's Sinbad movies. And Jason & the Argonauts(1963) was his master piece. His creatures in the 1970's Sinbad movies were beautifully done too. He was inspired as a 13 year old watching King Kong at the theater in (1933) and the (1920) movie The Lost World. Which rereleased in the 1930's too.
It was my pleasure and honor to have met Ray in 1992 at a Sci Fi con in Philadelphia. I had just bought a film fantasy scrapbook of his work in the dealer's room, and just as I was leaving he was as well. I politely introduced myself and asked if he could sign the book. Ray had a twinkle in his eyes and suggested that we could chat until his handlers came to take him off to dinner. That was thirty minutes of two artists chatting about all things animation and creative in general. He even grilled me about my work; illustration mostly and I imagine that's how he'd felt when Ray first met his hero: Willis O'Brian. 😎❤👍
Fun theory that most people have accepted about Boo is that she's actually Violet from the Incredibles. Main reason behind it was because of how she keeps disappearing then reappearing like the scene where she and Sully are playing hide and seek it's a good theory and could be very possible
when my youngest niece was little she looked just like boo so seeing this brings back the memories thank holden for showing jen this film
loved jens reaction im glad she thought boo was cute too
Its a real shame that you only showed just over 20 minutes or more of the movie for your viewers to watch with you both!! But still a great film!!😅🤣😂👏🙌🙏👍❤🎉
12:25 fun fact in the original movie they didn’t put a force field around the restaurant they just blow it up in a fiery explosion but they changed it because of 9/11. In fact something similar happened with Lilo and Stitch in the climax of the film the main characters go to save Lilo from the captain by flying after them in a spaceship but in the original they hijacked an airplane to go after them and they also changed that to for obvious reasons.
Fun fact: the reason Randall squints is because he's near sighted. We see this in Monsters University, a prequel to Monsters Inc, where Randall wears glasses. He actually removed them at Mike's suggestion to make him look scarier.
I love how Mike and Sulley are always there for each other.
This guy was the first recipient for best animated picture at the Oscars in 2002
Originally, Harryhausen's would have been blown up but since 9/11 happened, they had to change it into being incased in a force field instead. It's a good thing this happened as Harryhausen's could be referenced and used for Monsters At Work series on Disney+ (which have many references to the movie, including the actual reason why Abomible Snowman really was banished, unlike the implied reason from Monsters University).
Lilo & Stitch and Spider-Man also had change portions of their movies to erase any coincidental connections to 9/11. The Former had to remove a scene where a Boeing 747 was hijacked and an aereal chase change settings (and the hijacked plane being replaced by Jumba's spaceship) and in the latter to remove World Trade Center from some scenes.
This is my little sister favorite movie of all time. So much so, she dressed as Boo many times during Halloween and she has a precious memory where she met Sully and he treated her like he treats Boo, it was like Sully seeing Boo again and we think it was because she had the little pigtails Boo has at the time, it was adorable.
One notable, last minute change to the movie was the restaurant quarantine scene. Originally, the restaurant was supposed to be blown up with explosives. For obvious reasons, it was changed but when the CDA show off the bag that hid Boo, you can still make out the extra damage.
One of my most cherished movie ever. I have a Mike figure since the movie was released. It will always be in my possession and the animation is the very first pixar movie i watched with my daughter when she was 7. She absolutely loved it. Love the content again, keep the fun going ❤
Oh man you cut out the part where Mike didn’t understand Randall’s prompts. “Painted?!” It’s the only part that still makes me audibly laugh.
Fun fact- Randall's sidekick Fungus is voiced by Frank Oz!
I thought it was funny how later on I saw a clip that showed when they shaved that orange monster, it explained when they called out "23-19" it was to represent the letters W-S for White Sock. I hadn't realized it until I had seen that clip. Wasn't sure why they still said it later on in the locker room scene.
I love that duet between Billy Crystal and John Goodman. The song "If I Didn't Have You" is fantastic.
Also, if you don't recognize the voice of Mike's girlfriend Celia, that's Jennifer Tilly, best known as Tiffany, the love interest of Chucky.
I think cars is my favorite pixar i grew up loving that movie and now it’s permanently sealed in my mind and heart
Don't know if anyone else mentioned, but the 2319 supposedly stands for 23rd letter of the alphabet (W) and the 19th letter (S)...this was for the first White Sock. Great Reaction!!!
When watching Pixar movies, hopefully, you'll watch the associated shorts. Each movie starts with a short but on the DVD releases, some of them have an additional short. Monster's Inc.'s DVD short was Mike's Car.
Jason and the Argonauts came out in 1963. The last movie he worked on was Clash of the Titans from 1981.
I like that you’re going down the Pixar rabbit hole. Can’t wait for Jenn to watch the tear jerkers like Up and Coco. I think given her roots, I would definitely say Jenn should watch Inside Out which I think is one of Pixar’s more smart movies.
Funny enough, this is one of the first films i didn't fall asleep in as kid... That and Jurassic Park 3, both are VERY different 2001 films lol
Jen explaining how she managed to not see mist family amd pixar films make so much sense. I'm lucky my mom loves movies, so we watch them together, if not, I'll have to eatch the film myself.
You definitely need to watch Incredibles, it's really on brand for you guys. WALL-E too which it feels like Jen would like.
You guys gotta do Monsters University next!! Monsters Inc was according to my family the only thing that would keep me quiet as a baby. I love this movie. Regrettably Shark Tale and Robots were other movies that I loved as a kid so really my opinion means nothing 😂
I loved watching your reactions to this movie. It is rumoured that Pixar have a connect universe and Boo is actually Emily from Toy Story 2 and is Andy’s mum. The child who leaves Jessie during the ‘when somebody loves you’ song plays. There are many Easter eggs that all these movies interlink together. There are some very interesting theory’s about all the movies being in the same universe
This era of Pixar was the best, I especially loved that they animated bloopers for the end credits
Not sure it holds water, but there's a theory that when the news guy says "picked me up with his mind powers and shook me like a dog" that was Jack Jack from the Incredibles.
There's a popular fan theory that all Pixar movies are actually part of the same universe and that Boo eventually grows up in a post-apocalyptic world and is a character in Brave.
This movie was part of my favorites as a child, I definitely took this out on VHS multiple times, went to the prequel (monsters university) premiere and now my kids who are 4 have fallen in love with it as well on Disney+, definitely a classic.
I can't believe it took me this long to realize that Sully is voiced by John Goodman.
What Holden said about this film being after 911 is actually accurate. This movie actually had a very different scene the Harry Housen restaurant was actually meant to be blown up. The scene was changed to the containment dome after the incident. They missed something out though the scene after at the factory the bag the CDA bring in has burns on it.
Billy Crystal is such a unique actor and I love a lot of stuff he is in. I feel like y’all would really like his movie “City Slickers” if you haven’t seen it before.
16:43 hardest I've laughed in a long time 🤣🤣 "how many kids you got in there" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
Funfact (poor choice of words) the plasma dome over the restaurant was originally an explosion to decontaminate the area, but it was changed at the last minute because of the movie came out only two months after 9/11.
This came out when I was 11 and I’ve loved it ever since. Sully and Boo’s relationship made me want to be a girl dad and now I am raising my 9 year old autistic daughter she watches the 2 monsters Pixar movies pretty much everyday.
Wonderful reaction to a wonderful Pixar movie. It would have been nice to have watched Coco, to have had it published today (actual Día de los Muertos in Mexico), but this is just as good.
Yes! this is my favorite animated film ever!!!
