unquestionably Carreras had an amazing talent and the 70s (when I heard him many times) was when he did his best singing. More emotional and passionate a sound is heard to equal, even though his top notes were clearly taking a toll on his future voice, Still undeniably human and sung from the heart. And always on stage well acted and from a handsome man.
Just asking for knowledge only...from your statements it appears he was not a tenor?? Are not those normal tenor notes and if so how else could he have sung them without destroying his amazing voice? Singing this particular piece in falsetto would have been awful don't you think? I thought it was leukemia that actually brought this great tenor down before age. I'm not as educated/informed as you and is why I'm asking. Thanks!!! 🙂🙂

The vulnerability of the top notes makes his voice even more appealing. He is the perfect tenor
Until he ruined his voice by singing too heavy repertoire. Already in the 80's he started sounding bad.
It was Leukaemia that took its toll.
