  • Welcome to San Carlos, a neighborhood in the City of San Diego just north of La Mesa, South of Santee and West of El Cajon. Here lies one of the many areas that ESD has began offering Automated Greens collections to it's residents.
From what I observed the program seems to be very progressive. Interesting enough I noticed that more residents participated in the greens program when they have automated carts than when don't. At least every other person had a green cart out, whereas with manual bins it seems like 1 out of every 10 residents has their greens out to be collected.
I personally really like the idea of automated greens for the City of San Diego, now they just have to get everyone else going with the program. But that'll probably take another 5 years, like it did to get the whole city fully automated with trash and recycling back two decades ago.
    Enjoy

Swol BrohamLincoln I don't know exactly what his job level is. I do know that trainees are usually the men on the manual fleet such as the rear loaders, until they're promoted to Sanitation Drivers 1 or within time 2 and 3, and they're given and assigned their own trucks and route (which I believe are the ones that are handling the automated greens routes.) I also believe that when you're at Sanitation Driver 3 you're eligible for supervising positions... at least that's the way it works in my job.

You have to be a Driver II to operate an Auto truck. You don't have to a Driver III in order to be promoted to Supervisor, just five or years as a Driver II

Liam Flynn Six months as a trainee and six months as a I. So about one year until you're qualified to be a II. According to a driver he says that most drivers are II's it's the III classification that there's only a few of and it's very competitive. He says there's only one III per section.
