You have a very strong classic feminine essence, not really sporty (and not natural, boho or rocker and others). Classic clothes in rather darker, saturated colors are the best on you and you don't look boring at all in them. Too loose clothes, too wide leg trousers, any jeans, vivid colors are not for you.
😊It was lovely learning about your styling philosophy & watching👀 you brainstorm w/Christina. Appreciate that you have such a personal, patient, & integrative approach w/your client. Overall, it was a highly collaborative, informative, & quite pleasant process. 🎉Yay!🎉 🤯Mind-blowing that something as simple as a style tweak can reinvent a "Never" garment. We've all gathered things in our wardrobe that clearly captured our 👁👁attention, but end up completely stymied😵💫 over once we get home😂. We get stuck in this mental roadblock 🚧 where all creativity seems to drain away🤣. Rather than throwing in the towel or judging, you shared useful style analysis tools to put these pieces into our regular rotation🔄. What a blessing! Thank you! 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I love the 501 jeans, red socks, and black blazer. You look amazing in them. I like these straight-leg jeans on you the best. It's not too tight but not too baggy-perfection.
One of my favourite videos. I am a visual learner so it really helps to see her suggestions along with you putting the outfit together as suggested. Thanks so much!!
My 3 words are, “Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy”. lol. Still to this day, her style in the 90s still holds strong….even just taking her dog for a walk, she was always effortlessly stylish. Classy, minimal, relaxed, elegant, simple.
My problem is that I shoot for her (Bessette -Kennedy) look but I am curvy and older than her and it doesn’t look good on me. Her clothes on someone else - with curves, with more weight on their frame, not as tall, not striking blonde, blue-eyed, and sharp featured … are just clothes. 😟 Be nice replying. I am an insecure person who has been thin and very heavy - and I can tell you that when I am heavy I am invisible to most people no matter what I am wearing. It’s very sad and depressing. At healthy weight at this time and every time I get a complement, I feel a little mad that when I wore the same or similar outfit two years ago no one would have noticed anything about me except my weight.
This is amazing. I love that you stay true to your manta of styling over shopping in your content. The fact that you're open to others assisting you in your style journey is inspiring.
I love that your three personal style words changed. Thank you for asking about what to do “if you feel like you are not confident with your mid-section”. You could probably do an entire video about this! I would also like suggestions about alternatives to wearing a belt. I know belts can polish your look and add interest, but any time I buy one it ends up in my “never” pile.
I agree. I love my shape and also my clothing but when I try to add a belt I look so strange like it doesn't belong. I've tried thick, thin, contrasting, blending and I always look better without. I am short waisted like Allison and it boggles my mind. It's almost like my appearance is too soft for the belt. It's all you see.
The red is beautiful but I think its not getting worn because it clashes with your cool skin tone. It is an orange red. Maybe try another cooler shade because it would be perfect on you!!
Good eye! A cooler red (with bluiish undertone) would suit her better. Bright red can be overpowering for a lot of people so toning it down works well. I like pairing red with mid-grey or heather grey, mint or sage green, or use it as an accent than as the main focal point (red ballerina flats, red scarf, red lipstick, or in case of the cardigan, throw it over the shoulder and worn as a scarf than as a cardigan). Also, red works well with mid-blue denim. Personally, I don't like red with black or chocolate - the contrast is too stark, imho.
Wow Christina! You did an absolutely amazing job of putting together this video from the pre-work you did, to showing us the examples on the screen that Alison recommended and you asked great questions! I loved all of her recommended looks on you, all of which were true to your style, but trying some new combinations!! A different approach to the 3 words - practical, aspirational and emotionally inspired woreds! Thank you so much!!!
Woah, this was actually so eye opening. I've been using the 3 word system for years but I've never heard of them being framed as practical, aspirational, and emotional. That makes so much sense, and I'm revisiting my words right after this video. Allison is a personal style wizard 🤯
The BEST and MOST helpful video about finding personal style I’ve ever seen!❤ Finally found my style, what I miss in some outfits and everything makes sense now!:)
I like what she said about maybe you've acquired a good amount of elegant pieces and can shift that word while it's always in the foreground and transition it into something else. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
The reason you like “sharp” is because your shoulder shape is sloped, the shoulder pads lift and sculpt up your shoulders. All the things you don’t wear, aren’t lifting up your shoulder line, in my view. Amazon sells bra attached shoulder pads, something to consider for non blazer looks.
I agree. I was thinking that a shell or boat-neck tank top would look amazing on her - provide more visual definition at the shoulders and be very chic!
I’ve seen a few different videos of people doing a style session with Allison but this one has been my favourite. I think partly it’s because of your questions that you asked her. Thanks! Great video.
Those were some really great outfits! It was fantastic seeing the green blazer come to life and the red sweater with the brown blazer. The green never jacket looks great with the flowing jeans and the adidas. A hoodie underneath, makes it very cool and edgy! Great session! ❤
I watched this video and figured quickly, my style is completely opposite to yours! Lolll. Classic, traditional and ultra feminine. So much so that I don’t even own any jeans! Glad i found this video.
I LOVE your concept of shopping your closet. I think swapping your high neck tops with a fitted knit tank or tee with square neckline and pushing up the sleeves of your blazers would stay true to your style but prevent you from being swallowed by fabric.
all the nevers looked great!!! I am trying to teach myself to wear my nevers...usually on Sundays, when I go into the office (no-one is there to see me!!) and hey, I am starting to like what is evolving! Today I wore a Canadian tuxedo (with jeans from 25 years ago!!) I rocked it!!
This collaboration and presentation was absolutely amazing. The new looks with Allison's recommendations were very stylish for you. Loved the 501 straight jeans with the chunky loafers and red socks. By the way, your arms look very toned. I would love to have a session with Allison. Perhaps one day.
Thank you, that was very interesting! I love the idea of socks + loafers, but you're not used to combining the two. You have to get used to it first! The red socks from Copenhagen peekaboo with loafers, jeans, white tank top, and your red cardigan! Here we go! 😅❤
Very interesting, and useful because I have some similar silver ballet flats which I found second hand but unused. I’m looking forward to styling them again once it’s warm enough to stop wearing boots and tights.
I think the way to interpret her 3 word method is practical, aspirational and emotional. Practical are your workhorse wear that you find yourself wearing over and over again without thinking, then you aspire to be something, that’s the second word, then final word is how you want to feel with your look..
Pop the red vest over the denim and wear the red cardigan with the buttons in the back to mix it up. I'm a retired librarian and avoid cardigans like the plague because of the stereotype but you wear it well! Loved Allison's styling that helped turn your "never" into YES!
Love this video!! You have a fabulous sense of style and Alison really helped focus it even more. Sharp is a great word for you. I think your natural features are soft, sweet and approachable, and your personality is more direct and confident so sharp helps your outsides match your insides.
This was so informative! I'm 9 months pregnant right now and don't fit into most of my clothes. Pretty soon I'll be revamping what I can and rediscovering/updating my style. Before being pregnant, I was a full-time student, so now with becoming a mom and having no daily academic environment to dress up for, I'm curious to see how my style will change.I'll be coming back to this video for sure! Thank you🙌
I definitely learned from this! I had been struggling to find my 3 words, but learning the guidelines for each was a game changer (practical, aspirational, emotional). I’m super inspired now!
This was so fun and amazing! Christina, I didn't think your style could improve any further, but I'm impressed with Allison. I recently figured out my Color season/best colors. After losing weight, I've had to buy a new summer wardrobe. One thing I've learned is that I need contrast in my outfits. I noticed that contrast helped you in this session. Pairing black with a color or white with a color can create that, or black & white together. And having a slimmer bottom with an oversized top and vice versa. I'm thinking that when an outfit doesn't feel right, that might be what's missing for you.
You look absolutely amazing in that newly styled green jacket and the denim shirt! You have just saved my denim shirt and red cardigan from the Goodwill!
I found that so helpful, like you, I have my 3 words but I hadn’t broken it down to practical, aspirational and emotional. Now that I have, my 3 words have been tweaked so they make more sense to me and I can really take it to the next level!! Thankyou ladies!
I second your recommendation of Allison's book. Easy to read and apply to our own wardrobes. Her methods are accessible to all of us. Thanks, Christina and Allison!
Try folding in the top 2 buttons of the cardigan when wearing as a top to make a cute v neck; I think it would show off your collarbones great! I also love the wide leg pant, wind breaker, and green bag combo
The loafers! Pair with athletic shorts (like the silky loose ones) and socks. That’s your sporty loafer look!!! I couldn’t believe she didn’t suggest that especially when you asked for a sporty look with the loafers - this is so current!
Great video! Love how she distilled your words to help you refine your approach to your style, and I am planning to buy her book as I am still struggling with mine! Thank you Christina!
Great video! There was so much to take away from this but the absolute treasure for me ... I have some much loved loafers that have survived declutters but remain sitting on the shelf. Now I'm off to buy some red socks! Thank you so much for sharing this experience.
This was fantastic! Maybe with the red cardigan, try flipping it around, buttons to the rear, and maybe leaving half the buttons undone while tucking the sweater flaps in to create a deep-V in the back. You love a back-drama moment! haha. Thanks so much for doing this vid, Christina!
Fantastic video. So many great tips and visuals. Loved the ideas and examples. Saving this to go through with my own closet. Best thing: Adding Sharp to your Style words! "Sporty, Minimal, Sharp" is so much more descriptive and really feels like you and the style you present. Hope the change in words excites and inspires you!
This was SO fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing. I had heard you reference your three words in a couple of other videos but didn't know the origin (obviously now I'm going down the Allison rabbit hole). My three words immediately came to me and I feel so inspired and galvanized around my style.
Funny I just did exactly this with my wardrobe just followed my gut and my heart and never saw any of these tips to break your wardrobe down like this… it all comes very natural to me love it🥰😘
I absolutely loved the second outfit with the chunky loafer & red socks! I live under a rock so I didn't know who Allison was, but now I'm following. 😊
The 501 with red socks and loafers is a great look. I also love the explanation on the thre works breakdown with style. I need to revisit my words 😊 thank you for this video!
Hello Christina, this is one of my favourite recent videous of yours! I thought that the help with red and green combo and outfits were GREAT! You were still you, but updated and very on point, very current. I though that all combos with loafers were very wearable, too. Your closet is very organized, loved it!
Allison is awesome! I love her book even though I'm partway into it and highly recommend it. Love this episode too. Can't wait to get back into my closet now that I'm halfway into this season and finish the book. Lots of great inspiration here.
Based on a couple combos you tried here, I really liked less baggy / less baggy combos or baggy / less baggy combo on you. I feel they tilted a bit less masculine and tiny bit feminine which you had indicated you were aiming for. Their proportions also offered a bit more visual interests. Love the green jacket. It’s super modern, can go dressy or casual and even a bit sharp if you go NB/NB on the bottom. Great video. Thank you.
I loved this. And I have to tell you when you were talking about your 3 words mid video and the word Sharp came up-I was like yes! Sharp definitely fits. I love your style (it’s similar to my own) though I don’t think I would have used edgy to describe your style-Sharp is definitely a better descriptor. Really enjoyed this one, thanks for all your awesome content.
Wow great video! I would love to see you try sporty big shoulder bags or elegant tiny clutches on your new outfits though. Thanks again. Love your smile.
I definitely feel you with proportions and toeing the line with going oversized vs sloppy or wanting edgy and ending up with something that feels more masculine than I hoped. I tend to have a hard time objectively seeing my body proportions and appearance so I feel like there are opportunities I’m missing to highlight things I do like. This is cool to see your process and how you’ve tailored your style over time!!
This was a great video! I love Alison Bornstein and find her style tips helpful. You asked great questions and I love how you took her ideas and then implemented them in the mod shots! Well done :)
I hate loafers on me but I never thought about a softer pant to let the pant drape over it. Everything I see online is jeans and socks, jeans and socks, and then sometimes a skirt and socks. omg I now want a pair to style with my collection of soft pants.
An excellent video. I watched it twice. I ordered the book by Allison on Amazon and received it today. I’m going to ask 3 friends for 3 words and start there. I learned a lot from the video, information that I haven’t heard before. Excellent job!
Fab video and loved seeing all the shots of you taking on board Alison's great advice. All the looks you put together looked great on you. The orange top and brown blazer combo was perfection!
Speaking up for my fellow librarians, we do look very different these days. We wear leather skirts/pants, jeans, maxi dresses, etc. to work. Definitely part of the modern and stylish age. 😊 And great video, it is so easy to get lost when figuring what works in your closet.
Terrific video Christina. It was so fun to see your process with Allison. I would love to see some of your outfits as things evolve. Kind of like a follow-up video. Thanks!
Thank you Christina ... I love all your videos and can't wait for the next one... But this video was very Special ...I always struggle with my 3 words...never feel quite right 🙈... but now I know (it was good to tell us what we need to look for @ 1 2 & how we want to feel @3 😁👍🏻) ... now I know my 3 words are Classic, Bo-ho & Different ❤ I love the 'wrong shoe'-method and the outfits she build out of your 'Nevers' ... I'm going to try that for myself with more success!! Thank you for always helping us with our Clothes & Not Spending 🤗🥰 😘❤
I am ready to exhale! Thank you! I just purchased Allison’s book. Christina, you are so ahead of the game with your introspection on style and commitment to stay within a clothing budget. At 71, I have gone through too many iterations of style, not to mention sizes! As we age everything changes. Be kind to yoursef🩷.
I think something that also makes it difficult for you to style the red cardigan and green bomber like jacket is that not only the colors are a bit different from your 'regulars' but also the shape and materials are standing out. So they are fun items but they are in various ways different than your other items that it could make it hard to style or combine. If they were a blazer or razorback tank for example, they would have a similar shape to other items in your closet so then only the color and material stand out. Enjoyed this (and all your other) video(s)! ❤
Thank you SO much to Allison for all her expertise! I learned soooo much and I’m stoked to play around with my new 3 Words!

@AllisonBornstein please do more on YT! After this I watched your past videos and they are SO good!
Very cool and positive.
That was great. Super helpful.
I love the 501 jeans, red socks, and black blazer. You look amazing in them. I like these straight-leg jeans on you the best. It's not too tight but not too baggy-perfection.
Agree! She needs to alternate between the straight leg and the wide leg.
oh allison is SO knowledgeable. i loved how she verbalized her advice and ideas. so approachable and interesting!
She is sooooo good at what she does!
Really interesting. The outfits she helped you build with your "nevers" did LOOK LIKE YOU!! It was fun to see.
One of my favourite videos. I am a visual learner so it really helps to see her suggestions along with you putting the outfit together as suggested. Thanks so much!!
A lot of effort went into this video, thank you for doing that because I bet everyone who watches will have gleaned something.
Yes! And again on rewatching.
My 3 words are, “Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy”. lol. Still to this day, her style in the 90s still holds strong….even just taking her dog for a walk, she was always effortlessly stylish. Classy, minimal, relaxed, elegant, simple.
Oh me too. Still today. And to me, the reason is that her style was simply classic and not a bunch of style trends.
❤️you
Ok I love this! Best 3 words for a wardrobe!
👏👏👏
On the opposite side, I'd love a video on how and where to find the perfect high waisted belt!
I do not like the two red shirts together at all. In fact, I hate them together. Is it just me?
Yes! That's one reason why the very cool greyed-green blazer is so perfect 🦾
This 💯
Agree, I’m pretty sure she’s a Winter, so this is one of the worst reds out there for her.
Love how she styled the nevers. The brown- tomato red combo was a pleasant surprise!
I agree!
I think it works because this is tonal and softens the red, i.e. the brown has red in it.
@@JOJO-ug9ei good point!
Wow Christina! You did an absolutely amazing job of putting together this video from the pre-work you did, to showing us the examples on the screen that Alison recommended and you asked great questions! I loved all of her recommended looks on you, all of which were true to your style, but trying some new combinations!! Spot on. I think that’s why the bright green jacket looks off because it makes the shoulders look more sloped.
I agree. I was thinking that a shell or boat-neck tank top would look amazing on her - provide more visual definition at the shoulders and be very chic!
💯 ... I am with you!
We learn so much from hearing each other’s takes. I see this so clearly once you say it.
@@JOJO-ug9eiOMG nailed.
Loved the red sweater and brown blazer combo. It never would have occurred to me to pair those colors!
I agree. It made that red wearable.
Looks great with pistachio accents.
We have the same 3 words! Allison’s so innovative in the way she thinks-what a treat to take us along this session. Thank you!
As a cool tone, I cannot pull off an orange red 😅 I’m a soft summer, this colour looks like a spring. Same with the bright green.
I’ve seen a few different videos of people doing a style session with Allison but this one has been my favourite. I think partly it’s because of your questions that you asked her. Thanks! Great video.
She immediately knows what to do and everything looked great! Gave me inspiration cause I also have a bright red cardigan that I never wear
It’s such a useful template no matter what your style preferences.
I LOVE your concept of shopping your closet. I think swapping your high neck tops with a fitted knit tank or tee with square neckline and pushing up the sleeves of your blazers would stay true to your style but prevent you from being swallowed by fabric.
It's awesome that you got so much clarity from this consultation when you already had a strong sense of your style.
all the nevers looked great!!! I am trying to teach myself to wear my nevers...usually on Sundays, when I go into the office (no-one is there to see me!!) and hey, I am starting to like what is evolving! Today I wore a Canadian tuxedo (with jeans from 25 years ago!!) I rocked it!!

Try folding in the top 2 buttons of the cardigan when wearing as a top to make a cute v neck; I think it would show off your collarbones great!

I’m stealing the colored socks with the loafers!! It feels very classic but sexy in an understated and unexpected way.

This edit is awesome! Thank you for taking the time to recreate the looks you guys discussed and showed these examples alongside the conversation.
The 501 with red socks and loafers is a great look. I also love the explanation on the thre works breakdown with style. I need to revisit my words 😊 thank you for this video!
The orange tops with the brown blazer was amazing!
The denim shirt tucked made a huge difference
Hello Christina, this is one of my favourite recent videous of yours! I thought that the help with red and green combo and outfits were GREAT! You were still you, but updated and very on point, very current. I though that all combos with loafers were very wearable, too. Your closet is very organized, loved it!
Such great ideas! The denim shirt under the green blazer is terrific!❤
Allison is awesome! I love her book even though I'm partway into it and highly recommend it. Love this episode too. Can't wait to get back into my closet now that I'm halfway into this season and finish the book. Lots of great inspiration here.
What a positive surprise :) I have read Allison's book some time ago and it was great to see it in practice ! LOVE IT. Thank you for this video.
I loved the Jean shirt, black pants and belt. So elegant. I always buy Jean shirts and then it just sits there. Great look.
Loved what you did with the loafers! 🤩 Great video Christina 🤗
Hi Christina, omg your closet is so organized!!! Always learning something new on your channel.
Thank you.
Loved this!! So informative and got me looking at my closet and 3 words. Styling the "Never" pieces were actually my fave outfits!
Really great video. Thank you for modeling the outfit ideas you two came up with!
Fun. I do love that bit of sharpness/structure that the shoulder pads offer.
I hate loafers on me but I never thought about a softer pant to let the pant drape over it. Everything I see online is jeans and socks, jeans and socks, and then sometimes a skirt and socks. omg I now want a pair to style with my collection of soft pants.
Love this....great format for a video, I feel as if I am there with you, way to come together, ladies❤
An excellent video. I watched it twice. I ordered the book by Allison on Amazon and received it today. I’m going to ask 3 friends for 3 words and start there. I learned a lot from the video, information that I haven’t heard before. Excellent job!
Love the first look when you styled the cardigan. It was half open. Looked amazing!
Loved this ! Thanks so much. The loafer looks are amazing...gave me ideas for my ignored chunky ones ❤
Very cool collaboration. I think the beauty about fashion is that it evolves just as we do through life:)
Nice take on the challenges of developing and maintaining personal style! Thanks!
This video is spot on! Thank you for featuring this amazing guest, I learned a lot. 😊❤
Fab video and loved seeing all the shots of you taking on board Alison's great advice. All the looks you put together looked great on you. The orange top and brown blazer combo was perfection!
I hate the red tank with the red cardigan but the red cardigan paired with the other colors looked very nice
Speaking up for my fellow librarians, we do look very different these days. We wear leather skirts/pants, jeans, maxi dresses, etc. to work. Definitely part of the modern and stylish age. 😊 And great video, it is so easy to get lost when figuring what works in your closet.
This is real rock star stuff:) Thanks very much to both of you, so helpful!
So glad i came across this video ...OMG needed the wisdom imparted ❤
Terrific video Christina. It was so fun to see your process with Allison. I would love to see some of your outfits as things evolve. Kind of like a follow-up video. Thanks!
Thank you Christina ... I love all your videos and can't wait for the next one... But this video was very Special ...I always struggle with my 3 words...never feel quite right 🙈... but now I know (it was good to tell us what we need to look for @ 1 2 & how we want to feel @3 😁👍🏻) ... now I know my 3 words are Classic, Bo-ho & Different ❤
I love the 'wrong shoe'-method and the outfits she build out of your 'Nevers' ... I'm going to try that for myself with more success!!
Thank you for always helping us with our Clothes & Not Spending 🤗🥰
😘❤
such a great video! thanks for sharing this. I will go through my wardrobe and find my words right this week!
Thank you for the loafer question!! !And, suggestion: Wear the cardigan buttoned up but backwards - popular in the 1950's, so it's retro :)
