Good debate!! TATA build quality is good, after service, fit and finish is hopeless. Instead of updating the vehicle,dealership and after service can be updated. As mentioned PDI is the worst if the customer buying a TATA segment vehicle he should have some knowledge and also check the vehicle thoroughly before taking the delivery. With regard to the Mahindra, except for small factors in XUV,the vehicle is good. The M&M segment has improved a lot and after service is good.

I bought scorpioN in chennai on June, 2024. 10 days after buying the car when i tried to open the door via remote key which was not working. AC , Reverse camera, Reverse parking sensor, Window , Indicator, Headlight all stopped working all of sudden. Took the car to the service centre , with everyhthing not working. Service chief was talking in rude way. they are not able to identify the issue still 4 days of issue. Have escalated this issue at all level, very poor respone. They Lack technical knowledge about this issue, No idea about the root cause. Just drove 300KMs. Could not sleep for last few days after making such a wrong decision. Service centre testing the car driving 40KM without even my permission.
Now mahindra using all Turbo petrol engines only, only brand which don't have NA engine, so there is no such diff in performance, if you want mileage go for diesel or if you want a bit silent and long term car go for petrol, Mahindras more sales are in Diesel only.

Absolutely. I am in agreement with you. Only in Tamilnadu you can find such observations from these youtubers. Moreover as rightly pointed out by you, except for these influencers, 99% of the car users don't actually even know about all these engine smoothness, whether it's s 3 or 4 cylinders, torque bla bla. They want a safe car to ride. That's it. Mr Viprajesh talks about 110 km speed and except for a miniscule section, majority of the car drivers while taking the family with them drive at a responsible speed of 80 to 90 km only. Moreover there are many videos from North Indian TH-camrs who actually gathers many videos from accident sites and upload the same in to TH-cam and one guy is Prateek Singh. If you watch his videos and the accident related posts, it's absolutely clear that Tata and Mahindra wins hands down when it comes to safety. All these Hyundai, Maruti and the so called fit and finish, engine smoothness don't play any role when one's life is at stake. After all one has to be alive to enjoy those stuffs which these youtubers advocate!! Safety first and everything comes next. That's it.
Coming to your point regarding reliability, the 1.5 4 NAs and the 1.2 NAs will have higher chances of outliving the three cylinder turbos in the Longterm, the three cylinder turbos are really OK for two reasons 1 if you gonna ride highways mostly, so that the stress is not there in the lower end 2 and if the car is not longterm Now if you wanna buy a sub 4 meter powerful petrol car, you are forced to buy a three cylinder turbo except the brezzas 1.5 4 NA Now so cars can be divided into features, vs build vs engine reliability etc, eg if you are not bothered about features and just want the basic like abs, ebd, 5 star rating with dual airbags, and a reliable ivetec, you can easily get a elevate for 13 lakhs and add a touch screen and speakers with reverse camera.
A nexon sells 15k cars every month na, is reliability is not a factor then brezza would not sell 15 k every month or a creta 15k every month, reliability conscious people are still buying the cretas and seltos and elavate and the brezzas

I own a brand new tata harrier bs6 phase 2 purchased this august. PDI wasn't even done by lakshmi tata avadi. I live in Cuddalore district. So many issues in a new car. Electric seats shaking in lowest position, steering vibration while turning in low speeds, frequent hanging of infotainment system, fuel pump updation in a brand new car. I brought a tata nexon petrol back in june 2022 I agree there are many quality issues Service is pathetic. City mileage is shit. High ways is better. My left suspension got replaced under warranty. Conclusion- serivce has to improved a lot.
