The fact that he gives the mithril to Bilbo rather than any of his company, even his own nephews, goes a long way to show how deeply he has come to love Bilbo.
Bilbo had so much courage. He was right; he wasn’t a trained warrior or a hero. He was an ordinary Hobbit who was scared shitless half the time, but he was badass anyway and helped his friends. THAT is real courage 👍🏻
You know why Thorin always had a smile reserved for Bilbo, while he was serious in front of others ? Because Bilbo was his only friend...the only friend he acquired in his perilous life.. others were his subjects, very dear to him..but Bilbo was dearer.❤
Bilbo, you are a true friend to Thorin. Not sure I could be that loyal. Especially after he almost killed Bilbo. Loved Thorin’s ability to admit when he was wrong & to change his behavior. That shows his true character.
But even when he was under the dragons sickness he still looked out for bilbo by giving him the mail shirt that cannot be pierced instead of keeping it to himself (which would've kept him alive)
I would've rewritten Battle of the Five Armies to have Bilbo give Thorin mithril and leave Thorin with some battle scars after he killed Azog. I would've loved to see Thorin visit Bilbo as they read books and plant trees together.
FINALLY A PERSON WHO PUBLICS CONTENT OF BILBO in my opinion Bilbo is the BEST AND CUTEST character in the hobbit and the lord of the rings and is the reason why i always watch the hobbit or videos of Bilbo. Just admit it, no one plays Bilbo better than Martin Freeman.
Listening really close to the scene were Thorin almost throws Bilbo over the ramparts, Bilbo is seriously breathing hard just terrified- when he tosses him aside, you can hear him start like hyperventilating and panicking like its hitting him whats just happened- luckily the other dwarves where there and immediately got him up and guided him away. I am sure Thorin had felt bad for treating Bilbo when he threatened to throw him off. Thorin prolly didn't really mean anything bad to hurt Bilbo like that. It's just the gold and riches that twisted his head forgetting everything else.
