Cygnus rift, Callista, Paradigm shifter, Quantum Singularity, liquid plasma, Road warrior, Photon rez and all other tracks on this game are pure piece of art, it's amazing how they managed to put all those soundracks for one particular game. music made High stakes 100% better. What makes the older nfs soundtracks so nostalgic is the fact that the music is made for the specific game and fits the setting perfectly. The race soundtracks on this game has something that is very rare in new games, soundtracks that give you adrenaline and a push to get past that one opponent in the front.

It's probably due to the huge increase in popularity videogames have gotten over the last 10/15 years. What a shame. Some of the games that have been released the last 10 years have had some decent and somewhat good songs in them but that is because of variety and maintaining some connection to what you are doing.
I agree, the soundtrack, the use of exotic supercars, the scenic tracks to drive on, and also the fact the time of day and weather could change added to the aesthetic.
If you're talking about The Run, Most Wanted 2012 and everything ownwards, I'd be inclined to agree. But should I remind you that there were still two great titles in the last gen, which were Hot Pursuit 2010 and Shift. Those are actually awesome.
NahuNarutoKyubi I hate how Hot Pursuit 2010 didn't have a "quick race" mode where you choose any car and track, still the game rocked. And Shift really looks awesome and fun. I know I can't expect the games to be what they were like in the 90s in terms of music, etc. but they should at least keep the good old features like making custom races with any car and track just to chill instead of making them so short that you "want" to buy the next one asap. Im interested in playing The Run but I guess it's more like playing NFS The Movie than an actual game :P it's an experience that only lasts one play while older NFSs you can play them forever and don't get bored u.u
Dude this song needs such a good sound system, the frequencies in it are insane, but when you get it between the booming basses and the very sharp pulsating trebles it's an amazing experience.
Kamaishi but it still isn't the same. High Stakes has that charm, that 2015 doesn't. Need For Speed 2015 felt like a gimmick. And lets be honest. 2015 wasn't as well received as the likes of High Stakes either.
Axel LeSamurai I totally agree with you. My first NFS games were Porsche Unleashed and Hot Pursuit 2. Even though I enjoy the newer games, I just wish it would do the in-depth car showcases again with the narration, slideshow etc . Those were the things of 1st gen NFS that I loved most. I even found myself listening to the NFS III Hot Pursuit showcase narration for the Diablo SV while staring at that same car in Forza Horizon 3
Chills of nostalgia went down my body right at the beginning, that beat so many good times to NFS High Stakes I feel emotional when I hear these beat's good times before growing up.
I love these old beats compared to the garbage in the new need for speed games. For me personally, the soundtracks for the early nfs games had soul and purpose, now they only have what they think is mainstream. High stakes is the game I played when I was 6 or 7 (19 now) and I get emotional when I hear these songs play, nostalgia is a bitch at times but I always welcome it.

The first NFS I've ever played. The other ones were NFSIII, Porsche Unleashed, Underground 1/2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Pro Street, Shift Unleashed 2. NFS IV is still the best. Awesome environments and memorable music! I loved the showroom even though I didn't know English at the time.

Need For Speed High Stakes...Great Game, Great Soundtrack. Definitely will think about buying this again to relive my childhood moments of the soundtrack and the cars used in the game. NFS 6 and NFS 4 are definitely the best ones of the NFS franchise. Nothing will beat the original games.

What a breathe of fresh air... I am listening to this on a good system and flac format and I instantly get transformed to 1999/2000 when life was simple.

The brand has become to mainstream, so if the original team that made this beautifull game dont get together again, we wont have another High Stakes. NFS is at that distance from they were, that they call the new "Underground" the origins (WTF!) The OST, the races, the cars.... all of this items made the game like it was. It is so powerfull, that I am sure many people like cars because they played this game (in PSX, not PC version that i think is very anoying). And you only have to look at current career of few artists who made the OST to see the quality of it. Junkie XL (is making the OST of the new Batman vs Superman movie in collaboration with HANS ZIMMER, and also has made Mad Max OST), cristal method (enough said), rom di prisco (has recently done the OST of Guacamelee, that had very good critics ). Any way, long live old NFS!
Electro Latino I have to say that if my dad never bought me an old NFS collectors pack i think is what it was called, (had 5 games in 1 box, i thought that was the shit back in the day) i may never have enjoyed the culture around cars. About year ago i started collecting 1/18 diecast cars because it just seemed so cool and i still collect them today even if my dad's a bit hypocritical about it. Heck, being 19 right now and with about $30-40k budget for a new car, a part of me wants something kind of nice, simply because NFS has influenced me so much in terms of performance or just style in a car. If i never played NFS i would probably buy a Pruis over some Audi i saw at a dealer.

The OST, the races, the cars.... all of this items made the game like it was. It is so powerfull, that I am sure many people like cars because they played this game (in PSX, not PC version that i think is very anoying). And you only have to look at current career of few artists who made the OST to see the quality of it. Junkie XL (is making the OST of the new Batman vs Superman movie in collaboration with HANS ZIMMER, and also has made Mad Max OST), cristal method (enough said), rom di prisco (has recently done the OST of Guacamelee, that had very good critics ). Any way, long live old NFS!
Electro Latino I have to say that if my dad never bought me an old NFS collectors pack i think is what it was called, (had 5 games in 1 box, i thought that was the shit back in the day) i may never have enjoyed the culture around cars. About year ago i started collecting 1/18 diecast cars because it just seemed so cool and i still collect them today even if my dad's a bit hypocritical about it. Heck, being 19 right now and with about $30-40k budget for a new car, a part of me wants something kind of nice, simply because NFS has influenced me so much in terms of performance or just style in a car. If i never played NFS i would probably buy a Pruis over some Audi i saw at a dealer.

i rempeber playing this i am 13 but i was 5 when i was playing this and even if i am young i would still love ps1 games more than ps3 or ps4 cause ps1 and ps2 were AMAZING years!!!!!
