The sentence is true from my experience. My current job is just under ten minutes over the road from the town I go through to get home. Having this song accompany my nightime highway drive is nothing short of blissful. There's few other cars and no buildings or lights, just me, my car, the music, and forest sights.
The moment you enter the Afterlife club on Omega, realizing you're listening to a 10-year-old song, and you just go up in the atmosphere, feeling that you are actually there. Standing among the crowd of Turians, Salarians, Krogan, Batarians and Humans, watching some young 100-year-old Asari shake her ass while hanging upside down on a pole. Just amazing. Truly amazing. Also one of the only possible situations where you can say (and people will believe you): "Oh, I only come here for the music."
For that very moment i geniunely thought i was really there... really in future.. watching those badass asaris and listening the most futuristic track you may ever think of or imagine... that moment was really something beyond a simple joy .... it left me speechless... but full of memories... love that time.
I could not agree with you more, this song is so relaxing i can feel myself go into another world every time i sit with a Deserano and coke and chillout listening to it. the first time i heard this amazing song was in Mass Effect 2, as soon as you hear some loud noise outside Afterlife and make your way through the crowds to find your crew members chilling haha.
Totally correct, I adored that part in Mass Effect. Afterlife club, I felt like i was there, i wanted to BE there. I actually went clubbing that night. Awesome.
Turning on that old 1999 computer, insert the NFS High Stakes CDrom into the drive, starting the game in that hot room on summer, willing to take your BMW or your Porsche to blast in an virtual european track with this music in the menu? Now THAT was NFS. It's a shame Saki Kaskas never got any sort of recognition for his work from EA. There's an award nomination for NFS Heat "soundtrack" recently...can you believe that crap? C'mon! Where's the award for Rom di Prisco and/or to Saki Kaskas for their contributions to create a total experience for NFS? Time changes it seems :/ RIP Saki
The nfs heat soundtrack was the worst soundtrack of all games I played and a disgrace to the series in general. Game was fun to play but had to mute the music instantly
@@POV_Drive I fully agree. It was just too much reggaetón nonsense. I have Heat, Payback, NFS2015, Rivals, and NFS HP2010 Remastered on my PS4. What I did was get mp3 rips of all the NFS3 and High Stakes music, throw it in a folder titled Music on a flash drive and play them using media player while in game. The one game that really shines with the older games' music is HP2010.
A million views! Thank you! Honestly though, Rom and Saki really earned their appreciation here. Still love this song and glad to have shared it so long ago. Saki we remember you.

This song is good for everything, like depression, sadness, happiness, even for playing fighting games like Injustice, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and especially the racing ones like Forza, Gran Turismo and NFS. Saki was ahead of his time when he made this song with Rom di Prisco, it is real sad he is no longer with us, but he has a good side in all this, he is with God now, making music with the angels, have a excellent day, and thanks for reading this.
I would go into Afterlife sometimes just to listen to this, ah that moment when the music in a club in a video game is better than the music in a actual club.
This brings back a lot of beautiful memories of me driving the amazing Ferrari F50 flat-out in Need for Speed: High Stakes...what a nostalgia, simply wonderful. Love this music and always will love it.
RIP to saki kaskas, I’ve been listening to your music since 2010, the release of mass effect 2. Back then, I was just 10 years old. Almost 21 now, and I’m still enjoying your music and that masterpiece of a video game. One of my favorite producers.. So sad to see you gone, but your music forever has a place here on the internet, so you are not forever lost.
DamDam I know I’m 5 years too late, however, another masterpiece to drive to at night is called Nightcall by Kavinsky. That song in my eyes tops this one.
Its something awesome. Imagine this: You, your car and endless road. Fusion between car and man. Its other world, not that shit what happens everyday. Pure freedom.
Timeless masterpiece. First time I heard it when I was a kid, just a few times at uncle's house while he was showing me NFS, I guess. But then, when I entered Afterlife at Omega for the first time I was completely blown away. Asari dancers, flames, screaming people all around, danger around every corner and Aria... That's really memorable. I instantly got addicted to this track. Many years have passed, but I just can't stop listening to it. Rest in peace, Saki, you're glorious bastard.
Starts of so elegantly, such a beautifully simple baseline. The last couple of mins are completely neural... sound goes and echos inside every brain chamber like a beacon. A very well made composition. Can't help returning to this audio every now and then.
this track is momentous... its futuristic and nostalgic simultaneously... I feel like im at ease and on a long drive to nowhere or pumped and ready to study hard when I listen to this... Beautiful tone and melody.
It's so hard to hit that right NFS spot. I'd like a Need for Speed game where you drive in the night, dark night with few light, not full of neon colors and fanciness, just calm night driving, sometimes in the rain, sometimes not. The 2010 Hot Pursiot almost nailed the look what I'm looking for. I love the stage where you are driving a police car, the level starts at night and by the time you arrive at the goal the sun comes up.

I first came in contact with Sakis work as an 9year old kid playing High Stakes and looking at a BMW Z3 in showcase. Yesterday I fullfilled my wish of owning that very first dream car of mine, and now I can‘t stop listening to Callista, a masterpiece of electronic music. Thank you. Driving a Z3 on winding roads while Callista is blasting from the speakers: Checkmark for the bucket list of life.
Thank you for sharing; knowing that at least someone has achieved this dream fills me with content. This song changed so many of us, and I'm glad it's still here for us to come back to.
oh boy. i never played that need for speed game from 99. i first heard that song in ME2. and it sounded "new". iam acutally suprised, that this song is nearly 20 years old and was used in a different game before. its one of those songs, that instantly brings me into another realm.
if you gonna download ps1 emulator and play NFS high stakes, you gonna love it even tought it's very old game. music makes game even greater. callista, cygnus rift, paradigm shifter, quantum singularity and many other songs in that game will be always in every NFS fan heart
If you can buy an older pc or laptop, try high stakes, I'm even thinking to build some shitty pc just to play it. It's an Amazing NFS! Different than anything after.
Sakis' music will always remind me of bright and precious memories of my childhood playing High Stakes The sound is soul-stirring and gives me comfort like none other RIP Saki, you`ll forever live in my heart
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! 8 laps, Dolphin Cove, night and weather on, no traffic, no opponents, and Callista as the only song on repeat... while I just cruised along slowly by myself. Those were some of the most peaceful moments of my childhood.
Because after Black Box took over, they decided too celebrate the Fast and furious movies. That started this stupid streetrace tiuning crap games, and the problem is that since Ghost games also love this. I dont see it return.Partly because these ricer kids is dominate the NFS forum and their Facebook page, that is why the have get their free will in so many years now. We old schoolnfs gamers must dare too speak louder if we want NFS too etc make a High Stakes remake, Rivals had some similarites compared too High stakes in gameplay. Ecpecially the pursuit part, but overall it was too burnoutish and too much bugs.
Nah, the last true NFS was Porsche Unleashed. Both are my favourite car-games of all time, HS being very slightly ahead of PU. Also HS has the best OST ever, in tandem with Quake III Arena Noize album by Sonic Mayhem - and NFS 3. Btw both HS and PU are still kinda active online, with the patches they work flawlessly on Win 7 and Win 10 and you can play them via IPLounge over the internet. Give it a spin.
don't think I'd blame it on blackbox though, considering the circumstances of their take-over of sorts (there were 2 versions of NFS 6 (a 100% *not* F&F-kind of NFS). Who made the better one?)
For all people who want to know the source of the conversation: seems like it's from the game itself, not from a movie. Sources: th-cam.com/video/4StTjnaqVls/w-d-xo.html&lc=z12fuprztr2txpbup235hviryzfoz1p4t04 - the comment about Serena and Ken Google: Serena Ken callista ⇒ vk.com/wall-58379364_1786 (a poll about these voices) => Ken Marhall / Serena Whitters IMDB: www.imdb.com/name/nm2183163/ She only participated as a voice actor in NFS:HS, unfortunately. Her voice is magnificent though. Spent a lot of efforts to find the dialogue source via quodb and google, now I can finally let it go.
It's a pity this track is still not on Spotify. Someone should release the tracks of Saki Kaskas, this is my all time favorite Chill Track and i can't listen on it on spotify :(
EA owns rights to all these tracks, I actually spoke to Rom some time ago and he told me this.. And like we know EA they won't release it anyway which is a fkin shame
Must be an awesome feeling to have this song playing while on a night drive...... all thanks to my older brother playing High stakes on PC, just an awesome tune.
Need for speed when it was just right I think so many people would love game designers to take a step back to when things were simple I can appreciate how much time and effort they put into games now and I take my hat off to them I really do but we seem to be remastering all the old games surly that says something amazing memories and times..........
why , why ....no words to describe the feeling of music, that makes you feel so calm...how someone can create such a masterpiece!? Sakis and Romolo are the BEST!
From a quick glance, I thought the clips are either real life or a recent racing game... then flashbacks of NFS HP occurred, unbelievable, over a decade ago and looks so great. Combined with the chosen track is awesome.

I have to remind myself of when it was first released because there isn't a single hint of it's age when hearing it. This track is just timeless.
Pol Pol вы не одни ! Нас таких много !=)
Сейчас такого не делают, мало что оставляет такой след в душе
When NFS is all about drive experience and no points or nitrous
*chills*
So awesome! Take me back! 😩

most underrated song ever.
I just love the vocal and dialog in the beginning ... masterpiece
Yea man! It brings to me some nostalgic feeling!
Rest in peace Saki, and thank you for all the wonderful music you have given the world!
Первый раз услышал этот шедевр в NFS,потом в mass effect,осталось в сердце навсегда!!!)
как игра Mass Effect? стоит попробовать? (мне нрав. старые игры)

This music has integrated into my DNA. NFS forever and my eternal gratitude goes to those extraordinary musicians.

"Saki Kaskas & Rom Di Prisco" in title was enough for a like
RIP Saki Kaskas your timeless music has done and still does so much for me. From the bottom of my heart Thank you
This brings back a lot of beautiful memories of me driving the amazing Ferrari F50 flat-out in Need for Speed: High Stakes...what a nostalgia, simply wonderful. Love this music and always will love it.
With the npc in his black suit very elegant 😂
It's weird that a man who I know nothing about has made a song that I can identify with so much. Rest in peace Saki. Good ones always leave first.
Imagine the hidden gems saki had stored in his computer just waiting to be heard by our ears
NFS memories made for life... nostalgic, emotiional...
I want to drive at night with this music :(
Then fucking drive :D
I just did and it was awesome!
DamDam I know I’m 5 years too late, however, another masterpiece to drive to at night is called Nightcall by Kavinsky. That song in my eyes tops this one.
@@Im-Red-Faction That sounds nothing like Kallista.
@@Toxic2T I didn’t say it did
Probably one of the best songs ever made.
I miss him dearly every single fuckin day!!!
Listen in 2021 all
and all future years
This is 20 years old and I reckon I’ll be listening to it after 40 if I’m somehow still alive
I love the stage where you are driving a police car, the level starts at night and by the time you arrive at the goal the sun comes up.
музыка опередившая свое время
а щас музыка говно в нфс

R.I.P Saki Kaskas, legend of electronic music. You might be gone but you stay in our hearts forever.
Again again and again! Best of all times
This video captures the ESSENCE of what NFS is... fast cars, beautiful scenery, sharp graphics, great music. Well done.
NFS forever.....Thanks...Saki Kaskas .Respect!
Sakis' music will always remind me of bright and precious memories of my childhood playing High Stakes
The sound is soul-stirring and gives me comfort like none other
RIP Saki, you`ll forever live in my heart
nostalgia
сколько лет прошло, а как втаскивает.. Dolphin Cove
Yes, that's it, childhood memories .. NFS High Stakes, Dolphin Cove ..
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! 8 laps, Dolphin Cove, night and weather on, no traffic, no opponents, and Callista as the only song on repeat... while I just cruised along slowly by myself. Those were some of the most peaceful moments of my childhood.
И не говори NFS 3 вроде
@@MrPycTuk *NFS 4:High Stakes.
I listen to this song every now and then and i cannot get enough of it. It sounds so deep, so moody, so lovely. :)
High Stakes, the last good old NFS :-(
So true. I loved the High Stakes. Why the hell cant EA make such games anymore. ;(
Because after Black Box took over, they decided too celebrate the Fast and furious movies.
Porsche Unleashed was good too.
Came here from nfs payback
Thanks for introducing me to such a great song
Thank you for this.
Покойся с миром, Саки Каскас.
Как скачать эту офигенную музыку?
For all people who want to know the source of the conversation: seems like it's from the game itself, not from a movie. Sources:
th-cam.com/video/4StTjnaqVls/w-d-xo.html&lc=z12fuprztr2txpbup235hviryzfoz1p4t04 - the comment about Serena and Ken
Google: Serena Ken callista ⇒ vk.com/wall-58379364_1786 (a poll about these voices) => Ken Marhall / Serena Whitters
IMDB: www.imdb.com/name/nm2183163/
She only participated as a voice actor in NFS:HS, unfortunately. Her voice is magnificent though.
Spent a lot of efforts to find the dialogue source via quodb and google, now I can finally let it go.
+rk fg OOOOH I never knew Ken voiced in this along with Serena...
The last good Need for Speed 😍...
I don't know why, but this video is the most relaxing shit I've ever enjoyed!
so true... this vid and a blunt relaxx my ass away...
Techluminous You took the words right out of my mouth.

The best track directly from the 90s!
This is pure nostalgia. Can't even express how I feel about this masterpiece. 🥲

You have no idea how much he is missed. This one song is the most perfect one to play for many hours as I go cruising at night. It’s so emotional
From a quick glance, I thought the clips are either real life or a recent racing game... then flashbacks of NFS HP occurred, unbelievable, over a decade ago and looks so great. Combined with the chosen track is awesome.
