      Same here.. Huge difference upgrading to the 3080. ( skipped 2080ti ) I have to admit though. The 1080ti was a great card for the 3 years I've had it. I was amazed how much cooler the 3080 ran compared to the 1080ti. my room doesn't even feel warm anymore. The Noctua fans I have for my tower run quiet and keep her cool.

Still able to play most of the games in 1440p with 60fps on ultra settings...Since I play on a 60hz 55' TV I don't need 140fps...The only reason would be raytracing. 1080 Ti is a CHAMP. Didn't waste a dime on RTX 2000 series and managed to get my hands on a 3090 FE, and am still not getting rid of my 1080 Ti. It's goin in an older unused build so I can have a gaming rig for co-op with friends. The 1080 Ti is the card that keeps on giving!

  • @burdconcurred7513

    I upgraded from 1080ti, then to 2080ti. I currently own the mythical RTX 3090 FE model. I gotta say, this card has some of the best cooling I've ever seen. But, I very much doubt Nvidia's claim that an RTX 3070 performs better than an RTX 2080ti. Seeing as how the 3080 isn't really twice as fast as the 2080. If you own a 2080ti please don't worry about the 3070 being better, it most likely will fall short.

    • @johnathanera5863

Classic drop off curve for everything I do day to day. You should just get a 1660 or even a 2060. At 1080p youre gonna be bottlenecked by your cpu. Only upgrade when you want to play 1440p or 4k

    I would like to ask a question. I am currently building my first pc build. For the gpu i use the 1080ti. Could you guys assure me that I’m making a good decision. My personal opinion is that the card still manages to beat the 20 series up to 2070 super and only losing in a few games released after the 20 series (control etc)

      bro dont even worry about all that keep your mind on the 1080ti and upgrade to 3070 when prices become decent. if you play at 1080p bro you dont need better

    I game mostly in 3D at 1080P with the now defunct Nvidia 3D vision. Since nobody has gotten that to work with the 3000 series, and it might be an eternity before they do (God bless those folks)... I decided to upgrade from my 1080 ti to a 2080 ti after the 3070 drops. They should hopefully go sub-500 again!. In my case the 3080 wouldn't yield much of a boost at all.

    I think every other generation of gpu is probably the best overall upgrade path. You can get a good 4 years out of your gpu and sell it once you upgrade to help with the upgrade cost.

  • @Ureroll
    @Ureroll 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video but I disagree. 1 reason: 1080ti is still a beast and can run current games at 100+ fps at 1440p. So unless you have a 4k monitor you ll be fine another 2 years at least. 2nd: raytracing and dlss 2.0 are not an automatic visual upgrade, the technology is still new and can create more issues than benefits, especially dlss artifacts. Regarding raytracing, take a look at the comparison example on the nvidia official site: all those perfect reflections of the puddles are just really distracting. Our brain is wired to be attracted to shiny things and having em everywhere can be confusing and tiring. The eye needs some place to rest in between areas of detail. SO even if I love the new tech it will take a while before it gets properly executed by the majority of developers. Ue4 engine RTX tools, for example, are still evolving and most are not in the main branch of the engine yet. So in short: upgrading makes sense only if you take into consideration the games you play & the monitor you need to feed. RTX is the future, sure. I ll upgrade in the future then!

    • @UnknownEnemyNL
      @UnknownEnemyNL 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      U probably a 1080ti owner who wants to defend its card lool, can run current games at 100+fps at 1440p?? Thats bullshit, really demanding games will not run above 100fps on ultra 1440p. I upgraded from 2070super to a 3080 so i know what i am talking about. In short if you have a gtx 1080ti/2070super or lower, it is definitly worth it to upgrade! At least if u play at 1440p or 4k

    • @Ureroll
      @Ureroll 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UnknownEnemyNL I don't need to "defend" a 1080ti, everyone knows is a great card. and I did not say I run all games with maxed settings. The same goes for your 2070 super, just cose you have the money and you can upgrade does not make it a smart decision, financially speaking, even if the 3080 is faster. That is the point I was trying to make + I am not fully sold on the need to buy rtx (and the consequent need to introduce dlss artifacts to compensate for fps loss)

    Reason 1 not to upgrade. The 3080 is 1300$.. thats nearly 300-400$ more than a 1080ti was when new and hard to find in stores.. i paid 860$ for my 1080ti 6 months before the 2080ti came out... I still have it. For the games i play at 2560x1440 i still get 144fps. Some games i do see a dip down to 70-80 sometimes. But is it worth it to uograde for 1200-1300$ ?? Hell no.

    my rig: Ryzen 7 1700X, 32GB, GTX1070 8GB, 650Watt PSU, 4k 60hz Monitor
    I can play most recent games in 1440p and high details at 50 to 80 frames (BFV, Warzone, Cold War Beta, etc)
    the 3070 cannot handle 4k ultra settings above 60fps. it´s 500$ for a performance level from 2 years ago... not worth it imo.
