Lewis Collins was an overlooked and underrated actor! People couldn't see past the action man machismo, however, he possessed range and depth that went beyond the action man exterior! He could show menace, charm or inner pain with the flick of one eyebrow more than any of today's Stars!!! He had more to offer, he had more to give and nobody wanted that, they wanted Bodie! A sadly missed opportunity for a sadly missed actor!!! R.I.P You legend!!!
He was and will always be a top man. Simply a Brilliant actor. I watch the Professionals to this day due to it being screened currently on british tv. If you have a bad day..switch the telle on and watch an episode of the Professionals..you'll smile in no time and all your troubles will be forgotten straight away.
Never forget you Lewis Collins a great British actor have given me countless hours of entertainment through your starring roles God bless you they broke the mould when they made you R.I.P
Few people know he was very good at ballroom dancing and grew beautiful roses in his immaculate garden. He gave very good Freddie Mercury impersonations in seedy karaoke bars too.
I never missed an episode of the Professionals when it first aired. Didn’t always follow the plots as a teen, but I loved the fast paced action, the theme tune, the cars, and of course Bodie and Doyle. Nothing like it today, just American csi shite, and things like “Vera”. Christ. Bring back the 70’s.
U are dearly missed Mr.Lewis Collins me&my brother used to watch all ur action tv.Series..🤩 The Professionals will always remember u dear friend our Hero aka/🇬🇧agent Bodie CI5😔💔😢😢 RIP🙏🌹💟🌿🕊..
I never missed an episode of the Professionals either and am re watching the whole series again every after noon on ITV4! it is a brilliant antidote to todays PC infested times. Lewis would have been a brilliant Bond. They really missed out there not casting him. R.I.P.
How the Hell he was no chosen for James Bond over Timothy Daulton is beyond me.He spent most of his previous career auditioning for it.In the Professionals he wore all the Bond clothes; Safari jackets and flares .He should have got it in my opinion
ian powell Actually he auditioned for the role in 1982 when Moore was indecisive about returning. Broccoli found him too aggressive and cocky so he wasn't given the nod. Also when Moore finally retired, Pierce Brosnan was chosen for the role, but had to bow out due to Remington Steele, and then Dalton was chosen. Dalton is my favourite Bond to date, but it is a major shame that Collins didn't get a chance. He was the best actor who never was James Bond.
As a kid, Sunday nights meant The Professionals, then bed for school. Growing up in Northern Ireland during The Troubles. I remember asking my Dad, can Brodie & Doyle come over & catch all the bad guys! As a kid, the answers always seemed so simple. Thanks for the memories, Lewis Collins RIP
@@daveandbear6676 love the action packed theme tune too. According to Martin Shaw, Lewis was a bit of a joker on set, keeping spirits up during the hectic schedule. I like both guys because each offered something different, it's probably why this dynamic due worked. By the way it's about 4.30 a.m here!!! X

He camped it up a bit playing the replacement sheriff and kicked the sheriff of Nottingham out! Jason Connery played Robin in season three. Three seasons of magic, paganism, and nostalgia. Got it on DVD. The professionals too. X

Lewis Collins was truly fantastic as Bodie and the exciting opening titles of The Professionals ( especially where he punches the heavy bag ) remain a favourite television memory from my early teenage years ! RIP Lewis !
I've got a few episodes of the Professionals on Blu-ray and I suggest you get a copy if possible, the quality is so good you feel like your on the other side of the camera watching it being filmed, I used to watch the series back along but I was too young then, now I appreciate the shows they did even more, Bodie & Doyle were a good double act on screen.
The only film tough guy I still mourn his loss and one of film and TV treasures lost may your star paint the sky bright RIP Lewis Collins. Ps after Roger Moore retired from bond in 1985 you should of taken the part.
Bizarre, really, that old hand of fate; how his career, which should've been red hot, just seemed to very sadly evaporate. One never knows what is around the corner.
I dont like how it's only news when someone dies. Was it news for 5 years while he battled cancer? Was his career celebrated when he was alive? So sad how the media works.
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AGREE WITH YOU. It's a joke they only talk about these guys when they are gone. What a lovely guy he was. Irreplaceable. Peace. Lewis.
America has had super hero's for many a year but as a 12yr old then and 51yr old now Lewis Colins ( Bodie) will be my only ever hero, still have my warrant card , Gun, and radio from 1980 with CI5 Credentials.
Collins could have played Bond tough & included humour. However may have struggled with the sensitive moments that Dalton had in 'The Living Daylights'.
Bond was/is a fantasy character - could never happen as he does in 'real life'. Bodie - on the other hand - is out there now, keeping you and I safe 24/7! RIP Mr. Collins - and thanks.........

Lewis Collins would without doubt make the perfect James Bond; he was so English. I have watched all the Professional series. RIP.

I believe he was the only actor who had the ok for to be an special soldier (SAS). R.I.P.
Who Dares Wins was the name of the film.
Lol ! The Bond producers thought he was too hard to play Bond ! You go guy 😂 Sadly missed .
And yet we have Daniel Craig!
They must have been high!
Would’ve been amazing at bond
He would have made the most realistic Bond period !!
Loved the professionals both great men Bodie wasn't to aggressive he was handsome xRIP
What a great Bond he would have made....He would have owned that role.
Friggin'ell. Not ashamed to admit, that's brought tears to me mince pies
Been watching every day on 120 sky at 5pm. Proper

A true legend should have been bond would have been quality
Would have been the perfect Bond.

I have always thought he should have received more work , there is something wrong there it did not make senses may be one day we will find out Why!
ann prince well said x
“Typed cast as bodie, like when actors play spider or superman, there finished for other roles.”
RIP great Bodie...
The women loved Doyle but all the blokes wanted to be Bodie. R.I.P.Legend
I was around 9-10 years old and had a massive crush on Bodie/Lewis. Still today, I still think he was the sexy one
Bodie and doyle
All the fab ford motors
So cool
Bodie and Doyle are the reason I'm now in CI5!
You work in a furniture warehouse?
Jerry Krause only when I'm undercover.
Had a crush on him big style.💋💗
Angela Shevlin bodie was fab xx
Me too back in the late 70’s
He was good.. Enough said..
four five this is three seven over and out.
So sad 😢
To be honest; after the Connery era, I’d say his portrayal of Peter Skellen more more realistic than Bond. Could have made sequels to that easily.
Legend Andrew William Bodie and he could do it for real as well
HE COULD HAVE BE A PERFECT James Bond.
His co star would not sign up to repeats which really stiffed his career and money he needed.
Collins could have played Bond tough & included humour. However may have struggled with the sensitive moments that Dalton had in 'The Living Daylights'.
I was named after him
You were named after Roger Moore?
As a child I would run everywhere in our street with a plastic pistol, in my head I WAS A PROFESSIONAL!
Didn't realize he had died
Me neither....sad
I didn't know either, these 70s guys were iconic, shame they're often forgotten about when the work dries up
He was only three foot two.
Richard Designer 5’10
😂
Very underrated he would have made a terrific Bond better than wooden top Daniel Craig
Definitely would've been a great great Bond... why didn't that happen?
Was favourite in the media for Bond in the early 80's. But by 1987 Brosnan & then Dalton had overtaken him.

Is that Tranmere Rovers FC 'side of the mersey' dude?

A mans man.
Graham Carlin Yes he was.

Too aggressive to be bond.i don't think so look at James bond today it's list all it humour. It will never be the same !
