Hey Hey Hey-Love the review!!! What is behind the Kangaroo pocket? Is it more microgrid fleece or a thin fabric liner? The pocket looks great I just don’t want to spill all the heat if it isn’t laying flush.
It looks like a great top. And have a look at some of the heavier weight alpha direct tops, to add to your top collection . 👍🏻 I’m flying out of Asheville in April so will pick one of those up I. The way home for my collection 😊
Hey Gabi, here you go again, talking me into spending more money on gear... I love a nice hoodie, and so does my wife and kid, so now we might have to spend $300, lol. I've never had anything with micro grid fleece, how is it for wind protection compared to something like an average cotton (I know they aren't ideal for hiking) hoodie? It's so cool that both LightHeart and Melanzana are hand made in the USA by small companies. Since you've seen both, would you say the quality is similar? For me it's a tough decision between the two, I like the ideal of the thumb holes, but then I only live a few hours from Leadville, and there's something appealing to me about having something handmade close to home and actually being able to go in the store and see them being made. It's odd that it's so inconvenient to buy them if you aren't local, and even than an appointment is needed. Thanks for the excellent review!
Hahaha it’s worth it!! Yes, the quality and design is basically the same. The only notable difference between lightheart and melanzana is that lightheart gear has the neck fabric that comes up higher on your face, and the thumb holes. You can’t go wrong with either though. I do think it’s interesting that Melanzana only allows you to make an appointment in store to buy, but I suppose that have enough recognition to make that work for them. I’m sure most of Colorado buys from them and anyone that travels to Colorado
I've narrowed my choices down to this or Skygoat. I was near Leadville last year for work but couldn't bring myself to dealing with the whole appointment thing. I think I would feel self pressured to get in and out as quickly as possible. I'm such a weirdo 🙂 I abhor being cold and do a horrible job regulating my body temp while I'm hiking so I can never decide between regular hoodies, 1/4 zip, full zip, etc and when I have to purchase something online, I end up buying 5 or 6 of whatever to figure it out then have to hassle with all of the returns. Did I mention that I'm weird? LOL Great video, by the way.
Totally agree. As a busty lady it just fits great and I love it. Will definitely be getting another one. Also, in the over the year I’ve had mine, I’ve never washed it and it doesn’t stink. I love that new color of yours and may have to get the same one 😎. Amazing mid layer fleece. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Thanks so much for sharing this great review Gabi.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
I love it!!! I have a gray and cranberry. I love it!! I wear it when I'm not hiking as well!! So warm! Thanks for putting g this fleece out there!
Glad you like it! It’s so nice

It’s a fabric layer! I’ve never found an issue with it though, it’s super warm

Nice of you to give some recognition to Lightheart. They most be very close to the AT. Do they set up at Trail Days? Good Luck, Rick

Thanks! Another thing about Melanzana… even when you have an appointment, they only allow you to buy 2 items.

LOL Jim that’s relatable. I haven’t heard of Skygoat, I’ll have to check them out! I wouldn’t want to deal with the melanzana appointment either.
Did you end up getting the lightheart or the skygoat? Im looking at both as well.
Great Review⭐😎👍✨...Thanks for the Content,Cheers.....
Thanks for watching!
Are they true to US sizing? (EU XXL is like US XL)
Yes, US sizing and true to size but they are not tight fitting, they have a little room like I showed on myself
Are they baggy though?
I want to run in it as well as hike/backpack in it.

That’s another good point! Holds up great in the wash too. This color is great I hope you get it ahhahaa
