The Transfagarasan Highway is Romania's most well known road and arguably the most beautiful! Top Gear magazine voted on the Transfagarasan as the GREATEST driving road in the world, & it lives up to the hype! We stopped at the Balea waterfall, cable car, & at the highways highest point there is a beautiful lake named Balea Lake. We stopped many times to learn this history and take in the views, and even saw THREE BEARS! We stopped at Vidraru Dam to marvel the engineering, and we were also able to view Vlad the Impaler's, AKA Dracula, ACTUAL castle - Poenari castle!
Even though google says you can complete this drive in 2 hrs and 40 minutes, it took us all day, & we think this video shows why :)

Definitely made the gondola worth the extra detour! We definitely were not expecting the emergency alert to translate to bears 😂
It's obviously not the most beautiful road in the world but it definitely is one of them. I would suggest you to visit Transalpina and Cheile Bicaz but to be honest there are so many incredible places to see that you need at least a month only to tick the box let alone actually seeing them. The country is very diverse and it's a hidden gem by all accounts.
We’ll add those to our list! Even expanding beyond Romania there’s SO many beautiful drives. Switzerland, Canada, Argentina to name a few. So much to explore!!

Howdy. Beautiful video blogs. If you arrive in the Crisana area (Oradea, the city is gorgeous), let me recommend you to visit the Baile Felix Resort with the famous thermal water lilies, with the wooden Orthodox Christian church. Apollo thermal beach. Also in the Crisana area, near the Beius town, is the Bears Cave

We loved Romania! We did enjoy the smaller tourist crowds compared to other places, but I definitely think your country needs to be promoted more

Which is the best time to visit
We visited in August! It was a good time
June July August if you want warmer climate or if you like snow and sky then December January Feb
If you mean just this road, then in Summer, it is usually closed during the rest of the year due to snow.

Try saying "Fu-gu-rush" (the accent goes on "rush") and than put "trans" in front of it and "an" at the end.
