- -Welcome to the Sleep Ranch! We are located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where our ancestors settled and started ranching in 1883.
I (Carson) work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town, and our son Silas! We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.

Trump is such a sweetheart. I just love him. I sure hope he beats that cancer.
Trump is a great horse, praying for his eye to heal... Thanks for another day on the range Carson, just love it!!!
Kudos to hard working Trump. I hope he's not in pain. It's amazing how loyal horses and dogs can be! We love you Trump!
I can't believe how quickly winter set in over there. Take care and look after Trump. I'm a Trump fan. 😊
Woohoo…..Cold day on the mountain….Bet you can’t wait till they are back home….
Carson, Wow snowy cold. Love you riding Trump. Prayers for his eye. OMG one cow at a time. Give your 2 babes a kiss and hug from me. Gonna move to Texas from Ohio next year. No loving relatives or friends here. This town keeps going down. My beloved brother died 2 yrs ago. My younger brother who was sober 4 yrs now drinking again. Going to large family with huge amount of Christian love & support. Husband & wife 6 children & 1 great grandson.
Hugs and love, Janet. Take care.
I so loved riding horses. What a beautiful animal God created.
Cows and calves look in good shape. Lots of grass is essential!
When the weather is good, can u use a drone to find cows.
Capturing the reality of living life as a rancher is pretty unique but thank goodness for new technology that allows you to record your hard days in the saddle. It must be such an eye opener to those living in cities. You do an excellent job bringing country life to the masses Carson. Many thanks and much love to your wife and baby also. Another fine recording of the harsh reality of winter starting to set in in the mountains.🇦🇺🤗🙏💞👍👌✌️👏🇺🇸
Love the way your horse talks to you and the cows. Blessings!
Hard earned gather! It's easy to take wide open spaces for granted.
Good luck finding your cows and calves
Another great video with spectacular scenery. Thanks for taking us along. Hope you all are well, happy and safe.
Trump is a beautiful All Terrain, All Weather horse! GREAT footage!
Prayers for that eye to heal up completely! Whenever I see those black rock cliffs I think of a cougar crouched up there just waiting for someone to come by below. Thankfully your cattle drives are successful without incidents or accidents 🙏🤗 Thanks for another awesome video! ❤
Haven’t seen Angus in a couple videos. He keeps the cows moving good.
Hard working American cowboys/farmers -💗🇺🇸💗🇺🇸😎
Thanks for sharing that cold and rainy cattle drive. Appreciate your hard work! Blessings.
Glad your cattle can graze all the food the wildlife need for winter.
Actually each grazing permit is limited by the number of cattle we can have on it to accommodate for the wildlife population, that way they always have feed!
Put your drone up in different areas! Roundups in bad weather suck!
Hard work in that brush
Love going along with you from the comfort of a warm house 😉 You guys are tough but you seems to really enjoy your lives. Lots to say about “God’s Country”.
Good hard days work. Essential things bringing them in.
I’m surprised that with the cold weather setting in, the log haulers haven’t collected those logs to process for firewood.
What a round up! That’s when you could use a heeler to help.
What a rough life! However (coma) my mouth certainly has a party tasting a nice 15-hour brisket done to perfection on my traeger! Thank you for what your do.
U will sleep well after that cold day driving the cattle
I know that looks like fun till you are on the horse riding in the bruch full of snow and wet, cold. Have a blessed week.
Not an easy life being a Cattleman....I promise to appreciate my steaks and hamburger more often....👍
Miserable weather. Can drones help you enlarge your searching patterns during fair weather. Stay warm and safe
Hi Carson, great video of rounding up your cows. It is amazing how many tree logs have fallen and just laying on the forest floor. Poor Trump had a real workout between all of the logs to climb over and the wet trail from the snow. Thanks for taking the time and effort to film these roundups when not in ideal conditions.
hard hard work long hrs bad cold wet weather you guys are great
Great name for a horse. I was born in the wrong neck of the woods.
Hope all is well with your wife and her pregnancy. Good to see you. Snow is beautiful. Tough for you all but still beautiful. Take care. Love to you all
Not boring to me
I am in Arizona so snow this time of your is hard for me to comprehend. But I guess your use to it
Snow a reminder of my youth in New England. Beautiful but brutal. Thanks for doing what you do to feed us.
a lot of staff well done
I use to love riding in the snow and moving cows up, do not think I could do it anymore. Sure is nice place to work except the cold. You guys can keep the white stuff I have not started my plow truck since march I think, guess I better do it soon. Hope you find the rest of the herd soon and do not have to keep running back. Always love to hear Trump yelling at the cows. Hope you and family stay safe and healthy.
I was surprised Angus was not with you. Snow and cold have a way of moving cows. A few years ago, I helped a rancher move cows and calves in two feet of snow in the timber, which was not easy. We did not take any dogs because the snow was too soft and deep for them to navigate. It was even hard for houses to get around.
Great video Carson
Beautiful video. God Bless.
Another great video. I love the scenery. I love that orange raincoat. lol Those heifers are foxy. Hope all goes well for you. Hugs for Damaris and big hugs for baby boy.
great time thanks
I'm glad i don't have the only horse that calls out after taking a few steps from their buddy. 😂
Nice honest lifestyle
We used to have snow this time of tear when I was young but today it was 56 degrees in south. ont. canada
This has always been my dream to round up cattle on my sure footed horse. Love your palomino. But I’m a fair weather rider. My feet get too cold. Lol
A drone could round them up
Awesome job y'all
How do you keep tract of your cattle, do you ever loose some permanently
Great 👍job!
What happened to Angus
Fantastic video !!!
Haven't been able to watch much but will catch up. Nice scenery wish i was out herding with you and family. Hope Trump eye heals soon. I use to ride my gelding after he went blind at 10. He passed at 33 years old in 2021. Miss the old man. Glad you got most of the cattle. That is sure a lot of fire wood. No wonder when there is a forest fire it spreads fast. Take care and many prayers. Ontario Canada
Thanks for sharing and letting us be part of your daily hard work, humans and horses! The terrain is super tough and challenging for horses, do you guys ever use Cowdogs to round up?
My grandmother was Maude Sleep. Years ago we made it to a family reunion with Mildred in Spearfish. Fond memories staying at the cabin and visiting the old ranch , barn and cellar.
much resspect
thanks!
I just love your videos reminds me of winter riding in Montana ❤
Glad to hear that you are getting them even if it’s only a few at a time! Take care my friend
A beautiful ride interrupted by freezing rain and snow. Sure do appreciate Trump's patience and resilience. I had a horse who would do everything but step over a log or walk through a puddle. Thanks Carson. Blessings for you and your family.
Thanks
That was a huge job! Now time to rest and relax with your sweet family.
Hope Trump's eye heals up soon.
Find someone with a drone and. Search from. The air
And the snow has arrived. Looks cold. Glad you found more cows
Yes really appreciate you guys love the video and more keep them up God bless
This is where drones will and would come in handy
Miserable weather to be chasing your cows in . Hope you find everyone fast.😊
With so many acres to cover, it has to be frustrating to get them rounded up.
Looked like a cold round up. But found a bunch of them. Needed the dog to help in those trees. Yep go home and have some family time. Thanks for sharing
You have to love ranching.
Thank you for sharing this with us. God bless you
Lots of cold riding for you all but was fun watching.
I love watching ya’s round cows up when it’s just alittle snow looks so pretty you needed Angus to help round those cows up for ya’s & hope Trumps eye heals real soon and good results for the cancer to be gone too missed seeing little Silas but it’s nasty weather stay safe ❤
We are expecting snow in mountains of North Carolina tonight.
Good to hear and see you on your trusty buddy.
It's sooo relaxing and exciting to watch the clip through horse's ears, love it☺☺☺
Thank you for doing this video. Interesting for us followers but exhausting for you folks and the horses.

I'm in East central Iowa, keep that snow over there! ❤

That looks like a blast. Chilly, but fun lol.
Yall need some cattle rattles to make those girls move. Also a good herd dog sure would be a help also!!
💕💕💕💕💕as always nice views and great working family keep warm
New viewer and a city girl as well😉 I am so happy to have found your channel….always thought I lived in the wrong area, I would have loved to experience this lifestyle and now I can through your videos👍🏼
Great job ,,get well soon ,, sounds like you got the crud.
Trump and Angus worked real good together. Gotta get that drone in the air help you out a little bit. Thanks for sharing.
What about putting a drone up to find them? Seems you could cover more ground quicker.
At 3 minutes, with all the dead fallen trees, I wondered it it was from a tornado, probably a fire, why were the trees falling in basically the same direction? Just a lot of questions.
Maybe a police whistle, would be a help making noise. Million thanks, for your videos. From St.Paul,Minnesota.
Have you ever thought of satellite chipping a few to find them
❤ Wow what a video!! Such weather and terrain. I'm only ten minutes in but all those branches -- would there be something you could put over Trump's eye to help protect it from getting bumped maybe? I dunno, but y'all sure do work hard, it's much appreciated. Stay safe ok.
Thanks for your videos. 🐎🤠😍🙏⭐🇺🇲🎥❤️
Use your Drone.
I love riding videos. Where was Angus he might have been a little help in the trees?
That is some beautiful country, especially with the snow. Do you ever use your drone to help locate your cows?
