great looking bike i had a few of them my 2rd one i tuned to to breaking point ,rebuilt it stuck a 86 big bore kit on it changed loads of parts on it ,its still on the road today ,my best pals cousin has it ,says he had to change the gearbox on it when he brought it in 2003 ,i had it in 1982 rebuilt it 3 times till i swapped it for a car in 1984
Thanks. Yeah it runs alright. I am trying different gearing setups, because it has no power down low and is annoying to drive like that. Can't really ride right now because it's currently snowing... Thanks for the tip btw!
@@VintageGarageYT I fitted a 60cc cylinder and slightly oversized carb. I also made an expansion exhaust. With this its got plenty of umph. th-cam.com/video/uk7pdSrqw5o/w-d-xo.html
That would've been a sad sight! I grew up with my Yamaha FS1 and always wanted an RD. Earlier this year I bought 2 of these. 1st one (this one) is built up, 2nd will probably be a full restoration
@@captainflatspot The dx model is actually hard to find everywhere. I got lucky I was able to get these 2 (both were entirely in boxes). Luckily Yamaha used some parts on other bikes, but specififc parts are very hard to find sadly.
These DX engines with aluminium cylinder are actually not that fun to drive, really narrow power band and no torque whatsoever. Hopefully I can make the Kenny Roberts a bit nicer to ride.
Is this Holland or Belgium? I saw the Te Koop sign. We had one of these from 1976 - 1982 in Belgium. Fastest 50cc ever made at the time. In Belgium they were supposed to only go 40 kpm. I buried the speedometer one night going downhill at 120 kph.
I believe this was the first motorcycle manufactured in Brazil, I really wish they would manufacture this model again
@@caio_0023 They really should! Just like Honda did with the Dax. Yamaha should do it with the rd

Nice! Yeah they are real fun bikes!
Lovely when we hear the power valve kicking in to
say what now....
Nice project!!!
Awesome..I have an 50m, sounds like its running well; I had the same issue with wind noise. The only way round is a mic inside the helmet

Ah memories- my little brother had one of these as a first bike. I almist crashed it into the garage door once.

@@VintageGarageYT - good luck with that.
@@nickbitten6037 Thank you. I'll try to make some videos about it aswell.
My first bike! There’s a reason they called them ‘buzz bikes’.
Yeah they are a lot of fun!
How the can you ever forget that sound and smell
Classic 2 stroke! 🥰
Great looking bike 👍
Thanks I have a 2nd one of these completely in boxes. Will try to film the entire restoration!
@@VintageGarageYT looking forward to it. I was looking to get one of these but they are not easy to find in Sweden sadly.

@@VintageGarageYT Yea I can Imagine that.
Wow what a bike look how fast it is for a 50
Yeah it went pretty wel. I think it ran a bit better than my other one
Very good , fantastic motocicle
Thank you!
Top speed?
Havent checked with the new gearing yet. Old gearing was actually hard to reach top with the low torque but i suspect around 80-85. Maybe a bit more
Seems to me like little end rattling a littol bit on that bike stick a new one in it lol
I actually sold this one so I could buy my Dream 50
Normalnie jakbym jechał na Romet Ogar 200 z silnikiem Jawy hahahaha! 20 lat temu
I had to look it up, never heard of it, but it looks cool! 🤣
@@VintageGarageYT 3 gears transmision

Haha yeah its in Belgium. I've heard these came with motorcycle papers and moped papers. But usually the motorcycle papers ended in the bin 🤣
