We have two of the best goaltending prospects in hockey between Cossa and Augustine. I don't expect to see either of them this year. But we only really need a 1-2 season stopgap
Bruh if we are in the same spot with a way younger core on ELCs and two hot goalie prospects a year or two out honestly not bad. No reason Raymond doesn’t keep it up either and really becomes that superstar player the team is missing.
Guys if you don't know who Max is, or don't respect his body of work, let other people talk about the Red Wings. This os damaging to 97.1's credibility, not Max's. We understand hockey is a fringe sport to most of your audience. But the optics of this conversation make it look like your hosts don't have the baseline knowledge to speak intelligently about it. Do better, or use the time for another segment complaining about the Pistons & Tigers
I think Raymond has a monster season along with Larkin. DeBrincat will be there ready as well. With the addition of Edvinsson on the back end and maybe bringing up Mazur to play in Sprongs spot, this team could be pretty solid again. I wouldn’t be surprised if Yzerman has a trade read to fire away on too. Maybe Marner or even Zegras. Zegras seems more likely.
@@alanmiller8889 the defense is in question but he has addressed goaltending for the future. both augustine and cossa are looking like possible #1 tenders going forward.
I wouldn't touch Marner's contract if I were Yzerman. Adding a superstar forward isn't going to make Detroit a contender until they shore up the defense. Husso (if he can stay healthy) and Lyon are serviceable in net behind an improved defense. I see no reason to mortgage the future for a probable first round exist next season.
You'll get Simon Edvinsson and maybe one other prospect on the roster next season. Yzerman will move a couple contracts and improve the defense. If he manages to do this, they will score less goals, but win more games. They will be a cusp playoff team again next season. They will be an expectant playoff team in two years, but they won't be true Cup contenders for 5 years. Detroit has one of, if not the best, prospect pools in the NHL, but they have all been drafted in the last 3 years. You draft to build a contender, then you trade to win a championship. It looks slow from the outside, but compare it Phoenix, Buffalo, Ottawa, Columbus, Montreal, New York Islanders, etc. who have been "rebuilding" for 20 years. Detroit has improved every season since Yzerman took over and shed all the bad contracts that Holland handed out (Detroit is still paying Justin Adbelkader's buyout through the 2025-26 season and he hasn't played since 2020). Once they peak Detroit will be Cup contenders for the next 10 years after. I predict two Stanley Cups in Detroit before 2040 (For giggles let's say 2030 and 2032). That may not seem like a lot, but remember that currently 20 of 32 teams have two Cups or less in their entire history. Two more Cups would tie Detroit with Toronto for second most Cup wins ever.
i agree its a step back next year, you can't resign kane, and we have multiple guys that are in their 30s like perron that are either gone or will be a skeleton next year. so the young guys will come up to replace them and you have to develop them, so next year they take a step back for development
so funny to hear valentis takes on a sport he doesnt understand or give a shit about. just stfu and reap the rewards when were in cup contention in the next few years
the boston goalie would cost more than you want to give and blocks the eventual arrival of Cossa within 2 years. mike needs to move on to the tigers or the pistons. like it or not the core of the wings future is in GR and Juniors. Soon is 2-3 years. always was a 5-7 year rebuild.
Everyone laugh at the drops we can’t hear
So bush league
Max knows more about hockey than Mike can bloviate about in a month of shows.

We better see either of them. If neither one of them has it figured out next season, then we have a major problem.
0 chance we see Augustine next year. Cossa is definitely possible though.
And need to fix the defense not fast and bad breakout passes. Yzerman has alot of work to do in year 5.
@@Firezap14i can see cossa play a game or two, hopefully he will play more. But GR is the best opportunity to get starts and improve his game.

Alex Lyon was top 3 in adjusted save percentage in the entire league until march, he’s not “mid.”
I know they can't play drops and music because of copyrights. But it ruins it. Just edit that shit

I find it both underwhelming and believable. I'm not excited about the future.
We're right on schedule. We should've been AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. One single point prevented that.
Get the drops or I don't think I can listen anymore. Kinda Busch league.
its a small part of the content
Amen very bush league
Elevating young guys and getting rid of some of these nobody's on the middle lines will get is to playoffs alone
Improved every year. Is it possible that it's going to plan and I'm disappointed?

Solid? The d and net are awful. Yzerman has had 4 years to fix it and still nothing
They need to re-sign Patrick Kane asap
Hopefully not Zegras, he’s very mid

Just make the playoffs.

Slow and steady wins cups 🤷🏻♂️

Exactly, folks need to settle down. The farm system is much improved and the wings are getting there.
Nope...yall are just losers who don't wanna set real expectations
Make the playoffs next year or find a new GM
Finally someone with the guts to say it.
At the very least, get rid of Lalonde
@@goblue193 Doesn't sound like it's gonna happen. They needed to fire him during the 9 game losing streak
I’ve given the Yzerplan the benefit of the doubt to this point but if they miss the playoffs again next year it might be time to consider moving on.
@@OFDProductions Might also need to find a new owner
These guys have no business talking hockey
