When coming back from Mitchell falls The king Edward river crossing is a most welcome sight… Glad to see the grader at work on the Kalumburu rd ! The Kalumburu road gets graded regularly, but I was told Mitchell falls rd hasn’t been maintained for years Cheers guys
Walsh Point, that's a beautiful camping spot. I did not know about it at all but we cannot take our caravan there anyway. Love the footage of the croc. You guys must love that rivet camping near Drysdale Station. There's another river near Mt Barnett Roadhouse but it's a private land, they don't allow camping. Elsie worked really hard for u guys this trip. Thank you for another awesome ep ❤️
the walsh track looked in good nick , i drove it 30 years ago in a 25 seat ]suzu tour bus. had to build the track in a few places as it was to narrow for the 12 ton truck . the air con broke and the pax in the back cooked as the windows did not open.
I too swear-by Thermacell. I have 3 versions. I have the exact same "Portable" version as Adrian, for hike camping. The "Backpacker" version for 4WD camping, and the "Mini Halo" that I use at home in my outdoor alfresco area. In my experience, the only time they haven't worked well is on windy conditions. I also bought an adaptor that allows me to refill the canister of the "Portable" and "Mini Halo" from a normal butane canister, instead of constantly having to buy the specific (& expensive) Thermacell canisters. 😁 Walsh Point is a scenic place. A mix of beauty and beast. Pity there are crocs, the water looks soooo tempting. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
@@OverlandTravellers Hmmm. I've replied to this already with the info but somehow the comment disappeared. Not sure what I wrote in there for TH-cam to remove it. But short story, do a search in YT for videos for Thermacell canister hack, and you'll find many video tutorials for the hack instructions. Extremely easy to do with simple tools. The adaptor I have is to refill 900g Companion propane gas bottles and Jetboil cannisters from large 4kg and 8.5g gas bottles. I hope this helps.
@@HammerRocks Yes, I agree. Very easy to do. You just need a vice grip or pliers (but vice grip are best), and a small screw. Basically, Thermacell placed a one way valve in the neck to allow fluids to escape but not to enter. Thus cleverly preventing users to refill them. The hack involves removing the valve. Once done you can easily refill them using a common butane canister refill you'd use to refill lighters.
Spectacular part of the world. Really uncomfortable without decent bug repellent or respite from the heat n humidity. The water looks awesome but is so treacherous with Croc's, Sharks n tides
Awesome content 👌 Those roads looks rough and tough That's not a Rolls-Royce but a different RR ( road revenge )lol ☺️ Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦 😀
Walsh Point. Another for the bucket list. Thanks for sharing. 👌 It takes a very brave man to wear buggie smugglers these days. I don't think I've seen one worn in a decade. Just kidding, I'm sure it was underwear. If it wasn't just keep it to yourself. 😁🤣
Did the road in 1992 in my troopy like yours. 2hrs for 8km at some stage. Sandfly city and big croc so drove back out the same day. Did you do the walk to surveyors pool ? Well worth a day out.
Another good vid guys loving the trip , I did notice however when you were setting up at Welsh Point some oil on the front left inner tyre wall so possibly a ball joint seal . Keep on 4x4ing crew 😎👍🍻
enjoyed that one guys, that's probably one track you should do with another vehicle, what's the go with the parking lights at the front of LC Matt - one blinker and one parker - see approx. 2:37 min 🤠🤷♂😁
always something to adjust mate but even with that and everything else the old girl just keeps on chugging along even if it's roast dinner hot in the cab - cheers
Was one of the worst roads I’ve been on up to Mitchell falls. 3 days later coming back it had been graded and was a completely different experience. Couple of days can make all the difference.
I was about to say Holly finally looks hot…but perhaps I should use the word “warm”…as Holly always looks hot haha. I have heard about Walsh Point and towing into Mitchell Falls. We tow a Kimberley Kamper and pretty much goes everywhere the car does, so just need to make the decision on how hard core we want to go. Will put Walsh Point onto the list now for consideration .
a question for adrian. how does he like the red covers on the spotties? does he find them better for highway driving as opposed to clear? and are they led or hid?
That's the first time I've even seen the engine oil checked with the engine running..... Always check with engine off and on level ground. With engine running the level should read lower as an amount of oil will be pumped around the engine. Too much oil can put strain on all the seals and is not good for the engine.
Really depends if it’s a decent 4WD trailer or not. If it was good quality and well maintained then year no worries. Something will probably break somewhere on it but that’s all part of the fun.
@@OverlandTravellers yeh.. I thought might be the case. If we only head up for a few days , We may end up leaving the Camper- ( DOT style ) at Drysdale River Station and just take the car. I think that will be case for a few missions. Thanks for the killer content.. going heavy on the research at the mo. Safe travels to you both. j

I love this stuff! Great episode from cool Matt and hot Holly👍
Holly & Matt thanks for the video 👍👍👍
Beautiful country and Elsie looks so at home on the tracks

can you share where you bought the adaptor please and the name of it - love our Thermocell but the refills get pretty expensive! Thank you
I’m keen to hear about the adaptor!

@@HammerRocks legend I’ll check it out, that was my only gripe with them

Yep 👍 that’s how they rolled back then and for a few more series after that .
Hi there, bit odd - I had a 1984 HJ47 Troopy for a number of years and wasn't the case on mine.
Pretty much I need a new wiring loom.

@@steve-deltasdad3906 I have the 86 and it does on mine
Even with all that sound deadener and heat proof stuff u put on the floor it still gets hot gee wiz
At least our thongs don’t melt to the floor pan… yes I have heard this happen in 40’s 😅

Elsie still going strong god bless her
Great vid 👍
rule 101 of 4wd never put your hand/arm inside steering wheel when 4wheeling 😭👨🚀

Were my eyes deceiving me or where you checking the oil with the engine running?
Gday people should always let tyres down on corrugation and remember tyre side walls will get hot if going to fast
Don’t worry the tyres were at about 16-18
a question for adrian. how does he like the red covers on the spotties? does he find them better for highway driving as opposed to clear? and are they led or hid?
Adrian said “Love the red covers, not as reflective on signs. Do limit overall distance but great in dust and fog . Led intensity lights”
Walshy - If you named him, you gotta keep him...

You guys think a small 4WD trailer would do ok getting there??
