Lyrics:
At first we started out real cool
Taking me places I ain't never been
But now, you're getting comfortable
Ain't doing those things you did no more
You're slowly making me pay for
Things your money should be handling
And now you ask to use my car
Drive it all day and don't fill up the tank
And you have the audacity to even come and step to me
Ask to hold some money from me until
You get your check next week
You trifling
(Good for nothing type of brother)
Silly me
(Why haven't I found another)
(A baller), when times get hard need someone to help me out
(Instead of) a scrub like you who don't know what a man's about
Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill
I don't think you do
So, you and me are through
Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill
I don't think you do
So, you and me are through
Now you've been maxing out my cards
Giving me bad credit buying me gifts with my
Own ends
Haven't paid the first bill
But you're steady heading to the mall
Going on shopping sprees perpetrating to your friends that you be balling
And then you use my cell phone
Calling whoever that you think at home
And then when the bill comes all of a sudden you be acting dumb
Don't know where none of these calls come from
When your mama's number's here more than once
Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill
I don't think you do
So, you and me are through
Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill
I don't think you do
So, you and me are through
Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill
I don't think you do
So, you and me are through
Can you pay my bills
Can you pay my telephone bills
Can you pay my automo-bills
If you did then maybe we could chill

She'kspere. The producer on a lot of your favorite late 90s hits
I miss the 90’s but I sure don’t miss this trend. All that damn fast singing. Hit ‘Em Up Style was the worst. I liked it back then but now it’s tiresome.

Ngl, it's stuck in my head 😭
Destiny's Child, this song is a great and different break up song. I even loved the part where you all sang "I don't think you do, so you and me are through". It's really catchy that part. I sang it a lot 3, 2, and 1 year ago. Anyways, you all, go!
The message from this song got me thinking how I spend my own money. It's about lack of self-control from a partner, lack of self-discipline, and lack of responsibility. This pride to selfishness from this partner is what made the relationship so dangerously hazardous to another. I took this message personally in a good way because I know that I have responsibilities to handle. Not everyone can see it that way. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Wow so deep 😒
Oh, so you’re triflin?👀😂
Spend your own money on your own expenses, why would you want someone to pay them for you? That's wierd and illogical!!
She’s literally saying “pay my bills” but of course you hear what you want…. Just stfu clown 😂🤡
@@mohamedech-chafiy9798 the actual message of the song is that the women want the men to pay the bills that the men caused in the women’s name…basically their saying “if you are gonna use my shit and take the bull up at least pay it or pay your share don’t be using my shit and dumping your responsibility on me”
The beats of the late 90s early 2000s got really creative due to the Timbaland era. I miss this era of R&B of fast singing and crazy funky beats 😎
Damn right!
This was when Dark Child was R&B’s go to producer.
Timbaland was it back then. Shoot...that whole crew - Missy, Ginuwine, Aaliyah, Magoo. I miss that music.. when music video premieres were a big deal.
Man everytime you turned on the radio it was a treat to hear something from Tim, The Neptunes, JD or Darkchild...they always blew me away upon first listen
Beats were more creative back then, songs lyrics were more creative back then.. Nowadays everything seems cookie cutter and just made to make some dollars. Creativity still exists but nothing like the 90s

Beyoncé’s voice my gawd 😫😫
It’s crazy, how deep and low her tone is,and her runs are phenomenal. The whole group is insync. They only got better with time 🥰
Yes. Its frustrating how ppl still sleep on her vocals after all these years
Yesss i loved her and aaliyah high and low notes 😂😂😍😍😍
People don't really give Beyonce the full credit that she deserve. She is super nice with the vocals. A person would be hard pressed to come behind her and copy what she does so easily.
Can we talk about how Beyoncé was 18 when this came out so she was 17 when she was working on this. Mind is blown
Wait WHAT😱
no she wasn't she was 28 when this was made she was in destiny's child when she was 18
@@melissaellis4449 bills bills bills came out in 1999 which would make her 18 what the hell are you talking about

Beyonce’s flow on this and bugaboo is crazy 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I'm glad the youngsters are discovering our classics... but nothing beats growing up in this Era 😊
Is this a “classic”?
@@lauriephillips8054 yes it is !!!
Back when you have to actually pay for albums or wait till Mtv show the clips of your favs. When the Simpson were good and Will Smith, Beyonce and Britney were just starting. I would give anything for going back to those days rather than this streaming-service times
What do you think of the TMBG cover of this song?
@@bvaldes3703 beyonces best songs were in the 2000s
Their outfits are exactly what's on trend right now in 2016.... Chokers, strappy heels and lace-up panels.
😫😫😫 I loved the different looks in this video!! Ugh they were literally my childhood favorites!!! 🎶🎶🎶🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽
I would have happily sang background as long as I was getting paid

"Nigga, you using all my shit, at least help me pay for this shit!" That's the message. Don't misconstrue it.

TFord But yeah, you're right
I'm confused as to why your comment even has 6 likes. Lol. But ok.

This song is 25 yrs old but still looks and sound so modern but in 1999 25 years prior is 1974 and I remember watching videos from the 70s looked really old.
I think with the rise of HD digital cameras in the late 90s, we finally reached the point that we could exactly replicate the look of real life in a picture/video. There really isn’t much further to improve camera technology after this point.
I think the whole 'can you pay my bills' literally kind of dates it
Letoya slayed every outfit 😭

i love the fashion of the 2000. It was cool, girly and sexy without showing much skin. just normal clothes we all could wear. now is all provocative.
Marie V. 2010s fashion is the least original imo
“Without showing much skin” Girl are you not seeing all those strings and cut-outs? 😂😂
This was 1999 though
jerel You realize that 1999 fashion was the same as 2000 fashion right?
their outfits are so simmilar to Winx Club Trix girls lmao :)
Omg i used to love that show when i was younger!

I literally can't imagine Beyonce as a normal person. It's like she's in another realm. Can't imagine seeing her at the store or some other parallel universe where she's not famous lol.
some people are just meant to be stars. They stand out in a special way. i feel you on this

Yall should really avoid putting celebrities on a pedestal like this. It's not healthy for you or for them.
@@nothx8642 Exactly. I'm just observing what we've made her out to be. Like this unobtainable creature never to be seen in a normal setting. Have you seen MJ goes "shopping for groceries"?
