Remember years ago, when you would turn on the TV and have to watch what was given to you? I appreciate every day that I can endulge what ever curiosity I have at the time and take in some raw creativity that would likely never make it to main stream media. Keep subverting that paradigm!
Long time admirer, first time commenter. Dustin, I'm sure you have heard this many times before thank you for all you have done to further this discipline and my own knowledge! I live in El Paso Texas and unfortunately we don't have any local glass blowers nor any lampworkers (that I am aware of) for me to apprentice with. You have inspired and taught me without knowing me personally. I'm taking this moment to let you know how much I appreciate all of the help and inspiration you have given me. You have impressed upon me to set my bar high Thank you.
Watching your guys' dynamic and how you work, plus Kevin's masterful camera work is so rad! Scoby is a gentleman and you guys work amazing together, "The wiggle is life!" Lol, his pieces are nuts, the clocks and his implosion blow outs are just unreal. So cool watching you guys collab. Thanks for this one! Oh, also, I love scob's roller tech, it's lathe straight perfection and that's how he smashes those wiggles so perfectly because of the machine straightness from the rollers... Gawsh I need a Taffy Tubes roller!!!
Scoby was one of the first people I started to follow on instagram when I started lampworking. It's been cool to watch his progress and develop his style, and now to vicariously meet him and see how he works is super cool. Rock on Scoby!
Wow! This piece is amazing. I've been watching these videos almost religiously lately. Really dig the collabs and bring other artists on the show. It really helps show all these different techniques done by different people, showing a ton of different roads to the same destination. Scoby using the vacuum to make a hole is a pretty slick technique. Dustin, your wigwags are freaking amazing. Love watching you do those. Thanks for all videos and tips/tricks, I can't wait to get my torch at the end of the month. Much love from BC, Canada.
Love the channel actually just got a real torch no more map gas building a kiln today appreciate all skill passing so many younger people feel that they need to hoard their skills so no one can be better then them when truth is that we get better by teaching others. Love the channel thanks guys! Toad
Glassblowing is so amazing, absolutely beautiful in every way. The flow on that piece with the wig wag pattern fit together perfectly, GREAT COLLAB!!!🔥🙏🏻✌️💜
Great piece! I don't even smoke, but I just love watching you guys build your art. Super relaxing and totally calms my anxiety watching you work and listening to the commentary.
Thats an amazing piece of art my guys 👍I love getting to watch your videos its really stress reliving. Also if you still haven't chosen anyone yet ill just throw it out there that my birthday is one week away 😜
This is something I truly aspire to as an absolute beginner glassblower. I love that guys like you are willing to share such valuable knowledge with us beginners.
Been watching for years , didn't know y'all came back !!! You got me started into lampworking many moons ago . Peace and look forward to the content !!!!!!
Awesome i really like the tip of adding smaller sections even if it is the same color, i have had issues recently trying to attach bigger sections, you guys rock!
Really great stuff guys, super stoked to see you Revere putting out content still. Took my first lesson up in Berkeley at the OG studio years ago and I’m still at it, but not without all this online content so thank you for spreading the love and knowledge to this day. Wouldn’t be where I am without you dudes ❤️
Secret White has been my favorite color since i started blowing glass. I love the translucent opalescent blueish white it gets when its thinned out a little, great for over laying too.
Awesome watching this, i got to meet scoby in my first years of glass blowing lessons. Dustin you were pretty much 90% of the new glass blowers first teacher. Might have to take you up on being on one of these episodes. Cheers from Atlanta Georgia East Coast
Super dope piece, I've been trying to get some of that super illusive secret white, every time I go to order its sold out lol. That back yard is looking good man such a huge difference from when I was out that way.
I absolutely loved this collab! This piece came out amazing, and I am all about that Wiggle Life now! Both of you guys make some beautiful art, and I love to see the different ways you approach your work. Learned a lot from watching this one. Hopefully you guys can collab again down the road. Looking forward to seeing what you do next! So thank you for making these videos it is always the highlight of my day when a new video drops!
Good vid very excited to start blowing glass just built my workbench about to get my torch keep up the good videos they are helping me learn a lot !!!!! Btw veryyyy heady peace I want it :00000
I don’t blow but really enjoy the vids and find them relaxing. Someone mentioned working on 2 pieces at once. I do the same making guitars as it keeps me from getting impatient and rushing the process.
Definately a beautiful piece 👌nice work- my question is, with how accessible glassblowing has become and new artist emerging every day, do you think glass culture is going to change? For instance people favoring local artists or cheaper glass?
What is your opinion for a starter torch for someone with a small budget (I'll probably be making my own kiln)? Would it be a larger Nortel like a red max, a gtt lyxn, a Carlisle, a Bethlehem alpha or bravo, or a good deal on a used bigger torch?
I always recommend Lynx since I feel like it'll take the longest to outgrow. You can get a bigger flame on a RedMax, but the GTT heat is hard to beat. Bravo is a good alternative, I've got a friend that really likes his Bravo and Champion.
Scoby. I noticed and commented when the live channel had you on a week back, that I am intrigued and impressed by the common theme in your work, including this one, to actually embrace and go with flowing curves, irregularities, what I'd call psychedelic warpage. In no way am I saying you hide mistakes, you do your forms I imagine by pre plan and by letting the glass do the slump or wiggle etc it wants. I seem to be 6 years behind but in your footsteps as Dustin's also my first teacher. Myself this free-form artisticness intrigues me as being new, making things all straight lines, perfect angles etc, glaringingly accentuates any abnormality, where to a degree this method of yours can potentially keep things easier as it's not a shocking difference. What brought you to consistently doing this, and any thoughts on my observations? I do understand that my one true critic and teacher, myself, will never get in the habit of staying sloppy as I am now and just going with it, I want to progress, Lea n, adapt and master my craft, but as I said i do love that adapting a bit of this could bring my work less criticism as I grow perhaps as well as always be usable for the awesome psychedelia effect. Like why just blow a cool dragon, how much better to draw a dragon as seen in alternate perspective of a tripping person. Oh wow, there I found what I want to take and borrow from your style, not to copy or look like you, but to use small cool things from all artists I learn from and admire and then twist it to my own whacked imagination.as I said when we chatted on insta, admire and love your work
I'm a new glassblower down in Austin TX, looking for tips on production to help keep my finances strong while I continue to work on my art, how do you regulate production through the work week to balance meeting goals and not feeling overwhelmed?
Have just been amazing to watch u blow glass I'm thinking of getting into it for fun an a new hobby I'm retired disabled and was wondering how old u were when u started?an is 59yrs old too late to start? Love your work keith from mich.

Beautiful work here. Love watching two different artists use two different techniques and come together with a cohesive piece. Love it!

Secret White has been my favorite color since i started blowing glass. I love the translucent opalescent blueish white it gets when its thinned out a little, great for over laying too.
Dope ass video, I learned a lot from watching his lathe work by hand type style. Definitely will apply it to my own work
Best episode yet
