IRL top tier is South Africa. Loses war to Britain, annexes British colonies. Becomes more liberal the more pro-imperialist it becomes. But sadly turns to the Dark Side in the sequels.

Important detail to note for Brazilian Revolt. Voluntario de Patria are weak because they have an inherent -50% penalty to HP and Damage. This means that while their initial HP is 100, their base HP is actually 200, which in turns means that all HP and Attack cards provide twice the value that one would expect. It's not a bug, it's a feature. This means that advanced arsenal upgrades are a must-have.

@@Weldedhodag Magyar Hussars fucking blow most other heavy cav out of the water as a late-game cleanup option. Good damage, excellent health for tackling large numbers of artillery (Chinese hand mortars, Ottoman Abus Guns, and fucking anybody using Lil Bombard mercs come to mind), better matchup against light cav and shock infantry than Life Guards or Czapkas. Unfortunately, only the United States can train them in Age IV without revolting, plus they make any investment into training or improving baseline hussars out of your stables a sunk cost. Additionally, training those souped-up Hussars only come out of forts, and only by investing massive amounts of food and wood (for the initial shipment of 9 dudes).

The Canadian revolution seems to be clearly designed as a Counter-Revolution Revolution, so it could become popular if aggressive revolutions are viable. Fully upgraded CDBs (Great coat, Pioneers, Wilderness Warfare, Northwest Passage, Blunderbuss) become the perfect counter to a horde of revolutionaries - 574 hp with 40% rr (800 effective ranged hp), 5.4 speed, 24 attack with 16 range and a double modifier against artillery. Additionally you get grizzlies instead of cav, so revolutionaries don't get their bonus there. So I don't think it's a fair characterisation to say this revolution causes you to sack your economy for no benefit - since A) your upgraded settlers still gather, and B) they're very effective against revolutionaries and heavy artillery.

Honestly the only issue with using Courier De Bois as an anti-infantry infantry is they don't have auto attack and will just stand there while getting shot until you order them to fire back. At least that was my experience messing around with courier rush in AoE3 against the AI. So unless DE added auto-attack to the Couriers it would be very difficult to keep them all attacking at once.

About Haiti, you said they have a focus on melee infantry, but their free-training 1-pop Pirates can be sent a card that gives them a 20-range attack with Skirmisher-style multipliers while preserving their massive anti-cavalry multipliers in melee. Also, you mentioned earlier that French Revolutions need to compensate the fact that they have fewer Settlers than other Revolutions, and the Haitian Revolution gives their Revolutionaries +25% health over normal Revolutionaries with basically no downside. Now, I don't have much experience playing as Haiti so far but are those benefits not worthwhile?

I think you overlooked the hungarians a bit by not mentioning the fact that the magyar grenadier and hussar get a +6 range and +100% hp respectively, which for russians is not great, but for ottomans is however way better than it may seem, because they BOTH have the royal guard and they can make use of upgrades even better, considering u can get a 20 range grenadier is very insane to me. I may overestimate its value, but I would put it in tier 2, because it can grant them a decent scaling, while having a free all-in. For germans, I am however more skeptical, due to the fact the age 5 can grant mercenaries + 50% damage and hp, at a bigger cost, sure, but they cant use the hussar so well, since the magyar hussar does NOT grant the veteran and guard upgrade, and their grenadier is lackluster, but they aren't as bad as I first imagined it due to your explainations. Would like to see your take on this. Great video as always, keep up the good work !
Edit: I'm not 100% sure about the veteran and guard hussar upgrade not being available to germans and russians, but both the grenadier and the hussar are available for the ottomans, that's for sure.

    • @Peachrocks5
      @Peachrocks5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Yeah Hungary revolution is pretty damn strong for Ottomans. It's not Chile of old, but it's pretty close and only because the free Hussars are attached to the towers. Still 100%+ HP is excellent. On Hand cavalry, HP is what you want. The grenades are okish, it takes longer to get them up to optimal levels but with rifles + aging up with the free upgrade, it can be extremely good.

Hey Loris, I'm going to take a look into this, as it's definitely something I must have missed. Assuming everything you're saying is on point, it almost sounds so strong it'll need it's own video and an amendment to this one. Thank you so much for pointing this out.
Edit: I just tested this - this is 100% a tier 1. 20 range Grens with grenade launcher lmfao. The +6 range wasn't something on the tooltip so I evidently skipped over it and didn't realise it provided this bonus, this will indeed warrant a video, as these have some crazy synergy with revolutionaries aswell considering they have x.30 multiplier against cavalry.

    I have a few comments
    1. a lot of the extra units get the wild west upgrade. that can change the numbers a bit
    2. ottomans and
russians get different bonus for hungry. +320hp hussars and range 20 granaders seem quite good.
    3. those granaders on horses form argentina are range cav with 50% range block and 300 hp(with wild west) felt quite tanky. but I really cant find a way to mass them up since I lose all my economy.
    4. haiti pirates can get skirmisher range attack. Also, when they do get that card they also get affected by the gunpowder unit upgrades from the arsenal. 245hp 20 range attack skrimishers that are good against cav seems reasonable. but again, I cant mass them...
    5. I tried to hunt villagers with the barbaries. it was decent but really no follow up

Nice video mate! Thanks for taking the time to explaining the so many different revolt options. I have some feedback for you in case you find it helpful for future videos.
    1. The tier table was quite small and you had a lot of empty space on both sides of it. I think it would have improved the quality of the video substantially if you would have used the empty space on the sides to show a description of the revolt you are talking about at the time (straight from the patch notes even) and on edge other side perhaps a bullet point summary of the points you talk about each of them or a quick glimpse at the unit stats that you mention or cards.
    2. Most of the revolt options felt well explained but there were some that felt a bit rushed. Of course, I totally understand that after 35min of talking about revolt options and only some bad ones left you just want to conclude the video. Not criticising, just bringing it up.
    Keep up the great work!

Brazil is the best Revolt for Dutch and probably the best in the game, barring South Africa for the 30+ woodrunners and extra fac.
With the Dutch Brazilian revolt, you max your vills/banks, rush age 4, keep shipments to a minimal to save them up for when you revolt. Keep a saloon and a foundry, facs as well.
You can revolt before 16 minutes and have saved 2-6 ships depending on the fighting intensity.
What makes the Dutch Brazil revolt so strong is the auto spawning 9 stack of patrias can be supported by cannons and mercenaries from the saloon. Either heavy cannons or horse guns/falcs.
Once you hit 15+ TCs which is easy to reach if you saved shipments, you get a constant flow of men who can provide nonstop pressure to an enemy’s front.
The real fighting power comes from the cannons (possibly mercs too) which the Dutch can uniquely spam due to having banks producing gold and a fac on gold/wood.
This only snowballs and can reach ridiculous levels of constantly being at 200+/200 men. Your opponent is forced to put everything into defense and you essentially lock their economy down producing troops while you gain xp from fighting which means more tcs which means a slow but unstoppable flow of more and more men.
Supporting those brave but numerous and poorly equipped men with cannons or heavy hitting mercs such as Jaegers (if you’re lucky enough to get a map with jaegers) you’re unstoppable.
It is possible to defeat an age 5 civ with this strategy.
I have defeated age 5 jap ashi/yumi/arrow spam with this setup. And age 5 otto abus/Jan/huss.
If you catch your opponent in age4 and keep them in age 4, you cannot be defeated.

But the trick is you got to do it quick. No revolting 30min in kind of stuff.

I tried Sweden -> Finland in a 40 min treaty and that was a mistake. While you can revive your eco somewhat using Karelian Jaegers, I don’t think it’s worth it for a late game push.
All your units are guard level and get beat easily, like I could barely fend off an imperial Inca. And i think that Sweden to Finland strat should be a “final push” type deal. If the enemy gets any imperial unit then you’re kinda screwed.
But then again I did try this in treaty so that’s probably why it wasn’t a good idea. I think in classic it would be much better.
Could you do a vid on how you can create a deck for revolting for all the tier ones you mentioned? I’m definitely wanting to try these in a non treaty game

I think they should add a Poland option to Russia and Germany. They could be centered on winged hussar units, which would of course be very powerful hussars (hopefully with the wings). I think it would also help Germany and Russia. Russia can finally have strong melee cavalry and with the cavalry upgrade cards of Germany, the hussars could be even better. Poland could actually be added to Sweden as well.

i think Chile is a rush revolution and i also would argue the barbary state to be top tier. I will agree that Haiti is pretty bad idk, i havent been able to make their pirates useful. but the barbary state is in my opinion the strongest. I go otto and i fast industrial while dropping down towncenters, and forts to defend, i get settler production boost and by 25 min i have a big button that can turn every free villager to a guard rodelaro. i also get 16 skirmishers for free every 3 min with 60 percent range resist and free artillery. so unless your opponent is also fast industrializing you will have the constant eco
    advantage

I really don't think Indonesia are all that at all. You get melee pikeman that have 8 attack (albeit 200HP but revolutionaries have the same) instead of revolutionaries that have better attack, and at range, and have multipliers vs. cavalry at range. The only thing Indonesia gets is effectively 4 flaming arrows on revolt. Not worth it.
Honestly, I think the United States is a better choice if you're 'losing' as Dutch, though I think if your only course of action is revolt where you need your villagers to become military, things are already bad. The logic here isn't great either, if you revolt you do not want to do it with a maxed economy which is the logic used to put the US for Dutch on tier 5, meanwhile you put Indonesia as tier 1 for Dutch despite the revolutionaries being worse. Economy pays for itself so fast. Revolting is something you set out to do either from the start or very early on and doing it with a full economy is rarely a good idea unless you are in a winning position and want to seal the game. Suddenly deciding to do it is a game losing move.
As for Portugal. Peru blows Indonesia out of the water. Grenadier revolutionaries are really strong since they keep their rifles at closer ranges against cavalry. They only lose to artillery per cost or extremely upgraded Skirmishers. Brazil is also solid on native maps because it enables legendary natives but honestly the revolutionaries aren't 'fantastic' they are really really weak. Still decent, and probably would pick if natives are good, but otherwise would choose Peru.

I was exploring a bit the info that you gave us and I find something that you didnt realice. When you do the Peru revolution (at least for Spain) you have access to a card called cidadany (sorry if it has other name, im Spanish and sometimes is a bit difficult to translate the names) that not only give you 6 citiciens, that are the same as settlers, it also allows you to creat citiciens in your town center. With this I thing that Peru revolution deserves a higher rank, because not ony give you an strong unit with overpower range, it also allows you to reconstruct your economy once you send this card.
Edit.: forgot to mention, it also give you another explorer with whom you can create revolutionaries

And between Chile and Peru for Spain what do you think is more viable if you choose revolution to try to overwelm the enemy but do you know you are going to maintain the presure if you want to win? I have been in a bunch of matches when the 2 teams are even in age 4 and non of them is able to break a hole in the enemy defenses and a revolution can help a lot here, but normally isnt a viable option because you become weaker after the first blow.
