Also, my favorite strategy for AI is to rush them early. Age with 12 settlers, put 3 on coin, 4 on wood, and then the rest on food. Once you age up, select that wood option and build a barrack in the middle of the map and then just eco boom and never stop spamming whatever unit you want. I do musketeers because they are the jack of all trades. Sometimes I would do a combo of muskets and hand infantry to combat horses, combat Swedens canons they get early in the game, harass settlers, or to just have an easier time at burning buildings. The point is to prevent the AI from being able to mass their troops because they gather so much quicker than you and can produce more. If you attack very early though, they normally won't have that big of an army plus it prevents them from attacking your town early on since they are too distracted by your army burning houses.
I play on Extreme a lot and I've noticed that my AI extreme allies have a much higher gather rate then mine, even when I have all the upgrades. I tested it with two Spanish. Like, I was gathering from my farm at like 1.62 food per second, with native alliance buffs, etc, all the farming buffs, but my ally, who was the identical civilization, had a 1.70ish gather rate. I went and looked at their lumberjacks, it was higher, looked at their factory, it was producing 10 gold a second, while the maxed our gold on the factory is like 7.15. Got even more angry, went and looked at the churches. The XP my church generated was like 20% less than theirs! My hypothesis is that Extreme AI is just very hard but with a massive gather rate buff. I noticed it does not appear to effect military units. That's a little harder to record but I was straight up playing a match as my favorite civ, China, with the Spanish as my allies. I had 70 villagers, 40 on gold, 30 on food, and my Porcelain Tower and my factory set to wood production, I had like 30,000 of everything but at the end, my Spanish ally had almost 50,000 of everything so despite me killing way more, my AI Spanish ally had the highest score, just from raw resources.
@@chinmay6144 yeah, why? Also, I found it out, on extreme, the AI receives a 40% boost. I tweaked with the handicap and was able to get my factory to pump out at 10.1 per second, just like all AI factories do on extreme.
The AI retreats when it shouldn't at a critical time in this game. For example the 24:33 mark. If there's allies that are ai they do it too. They retreat for no good reason. My gut feelings about that is that the game is programmed so that you the player have to invade the enemy's base. If you turtle till late in the game your computer allies won't defeat the enemies till you send in your troops.
The other guy was really too dumb to attack and right walk into the fortified side multiple times.. you need to find other ways for example use the water man..
