A great idea, nicely done. All the best from Scotland.

Thank you Norman, it was a fun Covid project. It is not something I use every day, but so useful when I do. Good to see Scotland doing well in both the 6 nations rugby and in the Euros 2021.

Nice work and a great way to repurpose the ShopMate! My only suggestion would be to put a runner on the top part of the drawer opening to keep the drawer from tilting as you pull it open. I’m glad that I found your post because I have an old ShopMate collecting dust and I use the Kreg system often.

Papa’ Rich, thank you for the complement, and the great advice about adding a drawer runner. I get so much use out of my Workmate especially since I added the two additional vices. If you going to be rejuvenating your Workmate, check out my two videos about adding the woodworking and metalworking vices.

Nice job. I recognize your Ryobi BT 3xxx table saw. I have the BT3100.

Hi Robert, yes it is a great work-horse, you can probably tell that I like multi functional tools, which are great when working with limited space.

That is the most irritating thing with the pocket holes is right as you tighten the screw the last little turn the dang piece kicks out. Really annoys me. I have to get a little crazy with the clamps to keep things in alignment. Especially when I made a couple small cabinets awhile back. The plywood was not perfect straight (when is it ever anyway) and I had the carcass really struggling to stay aligned with pocket holes when screwing.
But I like this pocket hole work center that clamps into the workmate and separates it (for me) from my main working bench take the pieces back and forth when done you can fold the workmate and store the pocket hole top. Love the idea BSI. Thankyou.

Jordan, I keep thinking about making a clamping table, but I am running out of space in my workshop and I really do not do much cabinet making where you need really precise joints. If you look at most of my projects on TH-cam, they are for my workshop tools, where I am the only one who gets to see the imperfections.

Yes I dont do cabinet work very much either. I like your kreg adaptation to the workmate because it’s still long enough that a standard say 30”-32”cabinet side panel would still be easy to work with since that too is about 24”.
But for 90% of my projects or customer jobs it’s the right size. It turned out it really well I like the drawer idea everything you need is in that table top ready.

Nice job, looks very nice. What brand corner clamp is that you are using (18:18)?

Mine are Craftsman sold by Sears, but I do not think they are still available, however, if I wanted more, I would personally purchase the Wolfcraft as they look identical. Here is the information from Amazon. Wolfcraft 3415405TV Quick-Jaw Right Angle 90 Degree Corner Clamp on Amazon for $23. 16.5 x 9 x 2 inches. 3-inch clamp face with V-groove design to hold round materials. 2-1/2-inch jaw capacity handles most clamping jobs. Harbor Freight has some by Pittsburgh that might be similar. I hope this helps.

About the sides, shouldn't the screws be on the outside going in? i think it makes a strongest joint that way.

Hi thank you for the question. I have been using pocket holes and glue to build small and large projects and never had a problem with strength, and strength is the first reason I use them. The second reason is you do not see the screws on the outside of your projects, which makes it look cleaner and more professional. It is also why I designed the cabinet for the screws to be on the bottom board. I have been using this pocket hole jig for over a year now and it is solid as a rock. If you have not used them yet I recommend you trying them on your next project.

Another question. Do you know exactly what kind of corner clamps those are? They look substantially better than affordable options at harbor freight and Amazon.

Jordan, they are ancient corner clamps made by "Craftsman" , I think Noah used a pair when making the Ark. You can get the new (identical) version from Wolfcraft 3415405TV Quick-Jaw Right Angle 90 Degree Corner Clamp. www.amazon.com/wolfcraft-3415405-Quick-Jaw-Degree-Corner/dp/B000JCGYD6/ref=asc_df_B000JCGYD6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=242037806074&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4468545604703864804&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032179&hvtargid=pla-383243091789&psc=1

Hahaha that was a good one. Well one can definitely say don’t make them like they used to. Craftsman Used to be an excellent choice for DIY guys or home mechanics and hobby woodworker.
Those wolf craft clamps are nice and hefty. Look like they are worth the $30. Wolf craft is a European. BRand of clamps and jigs and things correct?
