People are talking about She & Him not getting all this recognition and how sad it is. Did you ever think, maybe it’s not for the world but very few souls living in a rare moment. How lucky you are to find it.
I want to see the unedited version of this. I'm pretty sure there's some guy wearing a green onsie looking like the Grinch dancing with Zooey Deschannel. I want to see that.
Criminally underrated song and music video. Like, yeah She & Him fans recognize its greatness, but this should've been a huge hit. If someone like Sabrina Carpenter came out with this song it'd be hailed as the greatest song of the 2020s.
I heard this the first time December 19th, 2014 the morning after my Daddy died. I had to pull my truck on to the shoulder while I cried. I played it for my Mom when I got home since we had to select music for his service, and then I held her as she cried. I can hear it now and just think of its sweetness, but this song really can punch you right in the heart
My Daddy died on December 12, 2022. I too had a drive when I was overcome--a few days after he died while listening to Across the Universe. I stopped listening to music we loved together after that. It still hurts too much. So, I'm trying to find new music and rediscover bands I loved imdependent of the ones we shared, like She & Him. After listening to this track and thinking how dad would have loved it, I scroll down and see your comment. I hope, nearly 9 years on, you're learning how to live with loss a little better. I'm still a beginner, so it's hard.
@@lilgrannyari My pops passed March 12th 2021. Two and a half years later the pain still hits with the same force it did the day he moved on, just not as frequently. In my case, I actually find a certain amount of comfort in listening to the music we shared, and enjoying the hobbies and skills he taught me, as though he can still enjoy them vicariously. But then a poem or song or even just an interaction with a stranger will remind me of the pain of his departure. He was 61. A brain tumor took him. He knew before the diagnosis that he was going to go soon. And he knew if he had the surgery and went through the pain of radiation and chemo he would only get another few months, and they would hurt. He didn't fear death. But despite the promise of suffering, he decided to fight as long as he could, and "Stay Awhile" for his loved ones. So we had a little more time to say goodbye. I love him and miss him greatly. I'mma go listen to "Turn, turn, turn" by the birds now...😢
I'm a military boyfriend and you have no idea how hard this video hits. My girl and I get only so much interaction. Letters and Sunday phone calls only do so much. I miss her so much. You don't understand love until you have given your soul to another.
Aacon Loh 羅恩光 I want to like your comment so bad. But I don't wanna ruin the number that it's at right now. 69! Yeah! *busts out guitar rift* So just know I mentally gave a thumbs up to your comment. Lol
This is a remake of a mid-'60s Dusty Springfield song. However, Zooey and M. Ward give it a different treatment which I really like. And whether and original song or not, this is still really cool!!!
oh god I can't stop watching this video. They're so original and cool, Zooey is perfect to me I feel like I wanna hug her all the time. Come to Argentina!
A nice cover of Dusty Springfield's 1964 classic "Stay Awhile" which happened to be the B-side to her signature hit "I Only Wanna Be With You" - I like how they tried to give it a 60s feel and kept backing vocals. The original version produced by Johnny Franz, who is considered to be the British "Phil Spector", one of the last great pros. Just wanted to let the newer generation know the origin of the song as you may like Dusty Springfield's music. She is one of the greatest soul singers of all time and undoubtedly left an impression on She & Him which are a great act in their own right - Good taste!!
+Simone Yeah no problem! I tend to prefer the original just due to the energy that the backing vocal harmonies add to the mix but this one is soulful too
Wow this is the first advertisement that was more than 45 seconds I watched all the way through and I'm compelled to do it everytime it pops up. SUCH A Good video. Props She and Him.
a beautiful song with a beautiful girl singing it. now this is the kind of music we been missing.i wish they make more music like this. its like back in the 50s-60s
Andy Holmes Sorry andy, some people don't get it, sure I like all kinds of music. this song just has memories and it means a lot to me. just piss me off that some jerk off like that can be judge mental.
This is awesome, great track from She & Him again. The choreography must have been tough for this one even with a stunt double and wires pulls stuff around with a bit of cgi? Best part was the ending with the guitar shadow!!! Wow amazing.
I was thinking maybe they could have used a bloke in a full cgi costume like andy serkis as Gollum. But the way she dances looks a bit odd if it was with an actual person. And yeah that guitar shadow, pretty special! They shoulda done it with who she was dancing with, that woulda been pretty freaky in a good way :)
Joseph Rogers good points you r making but i agree & disagree with some...for instance, the guitar effect was awesome but her dancing with someone isn't catching on even if it's a shadow...maybe it's a ghost or something? the intrigue of not knowing! is what makes it special to me. you're joking about "bloke in a full cgi costume like andy serkis as Gollum" cos this can never be serious, bro? lol indeed:D
sevenblack07 haha yeah i know i was saying i thought she was dancing with someone at first but the way she was moving looked too weird for it to be with someone so i think you're right about the cables etc. some bits even look like they were filmed backwards then they reversed it to make it look normal. Yeah the guy in the full cgi costume was just a theory if she was actually dancing with someone but like is aid, i think you're right about the cables. I noticed at the end before M Ward drops the guitar, he walks in the opposite direction then what looks like a cut scene and he continues to walk to the sofa, i reckon they cut to give him something to hold for that shadow effect to take place. But then i could be reading too much into it... :P haha ! It's one of their best videos i think :)
Joseph Rogers haha, yeah you could be right too but the cables were kind of obvious & it was probably a green screen effect for the shadow (guitar at the end). it's one of their best alright in terms of the music video.i got the backwards thing too watching this but i thought that just my imagination running wild...you said it too so maybe?? we'll never know now...haha
she is dancing with a guy with green screen suit/cgi suit, look up La Huella FX, which is the Visual Effects studio responsible for the great effects on this video
Stay awhile, let me hold you Stay awhile til I've told you, oh Of the love that I feel tonight, oh yeah! Stay awhile, whats your hurry? I am not a really a huge fan of the music of She and Him, but I love their style and their perfection as a couple, and that zooey is always so zooey, with her dresses and her cuteness. And the idea of he video is cool. Keep it up guys. You're rare and rare is good.
I love Zooey Deschanel since New Girl (only because I didn't know who she was when I was little and Elf came out). Some of their guitar actually reminds me of the Jesus and Mary Chain and others, which is cool.
Por lejos el mejor vídeo de She & Him!!!!! Zooey baila hermosamente bien y M. Ward es genial incluso con guitarras de aire!!!!!! Los esperamos con alguna gira latinoamericana!!!!!
man is there anything this woman can't do, it's impossible to hate Zooey if you hate her we can't be friends, i can never get over how stunning and adorable she is
Her voice always seems deeper than I expect it to be
Audio effects.. But her voice is awesome nonetheless
For real!
lol first song I've heard from her honestly, and I was just browsing through the lyrics on google, thinking the same thing haha
Blander too.
Paulo Zimmermann no but her voice is naturally low
People are talking about
She & Him not getting all this recognition and how sad it is.
Did you ever think, maybe it’s not for the world but very few souls living in a rare moment. How lucky you are to find it.
Literally only just found it after someone sent me another of her songs and I feel down a rabbit hole
You’d love for them being rich and famous tho
Yes, agreed 👏
@@Mo-gg8ts they are already rich........ and famous.
nice copy paste
I swear, Zooey Deschanel is NOT getting enough attention for her music.
Right this song is so good!
I didn't even know she was a singer until about 6mo ago when I happened upon her singing Wayward Wind to her computer . I think she's really good.
I agree. She out right around the same time as Lilly Allen and Katy Perry. They were all really good!
Still so in 2022.. I agree.
I discovered that she did this project like.. 9 years ago I wanna say. Love it, the man and woman duet style
I miss Dusty Sprin
I want to see the unedited version of this. I'm pretty sure there's some guy wearing a green onsie looking like the Grinch dancing with Zooey Deschannel. I want to see that.
you are 100% correct
What luck have the green man... :_(
+Steve Kong thanks
Bird up!!!
LOL yes I was thinking the exact same thing!
i love her obsession with this era
Me too!
This is actually a cover of a Dusty Springfield song.
CMissMichelle everybody know that
@NearElCosmico 27 I didn’t. So thank you, @CMisshelleymichelle
I think USA have 2 prosperity ages....50s and 80s....love to live then and in California....Im colombian maybe Im wrong
Probably one of the most beautiful music video ever
Criminally underrated song and music video. Like, yeah She & Him fans recognize its greatness, but this should've been a huge hit. If someone like Sabrina Carpenter came out with this song it'd be hailed as the greatest song of the 2020s.
This video makes me think of someone coping with a dead lover. There's something so tragic about it.
I've never thought about it that way.. That's very deep.
IT'S A COVER VERSION OF THE CLASSIC 1964 SONG BY BRITISH SINGER ,DUSTY SPRINGFIELD
ALAN GREEN I read this with the voice of Craig from Parks and Recreation lmao
VoyagerOne I didn't think of it that way, but now that I do, I have the goosies. lol
Marie Claire Me Too - that remark certainly got me thinking

this is beautiful...clinging onto a loved one's fleeting presence is one of the most bittersweet feelings in life
The new paranormal activity looks great
+Dua Cirone I read this before watching the video and i couldnt stop laughing every time i thought of this comment...
Drew Kramer I saw this comment after I watched the video... either way it doesn't disappoint
HAHAAHAHAHAH
From Horror to a Disney-like musical.
Jajajaja
Great tune! Didn't know there was a video! Watching now!!
They're so original and simple at the same time. Everytime I see Zooey I wanna hug her, she's perfect in every single way.
M. Ward takes air guitar to a whole other level, and Zooey is flawless as usual. One of the best music videos I've seen.
As someone who loves retro I appreciate that she does too.
I'm glad I fell in love with my parents' music (60's/70's), this is a good cover song. I'm sure Dusty would approve if she were alive.
Lovely version
Both her and Dusty are pure 60s kaleidoscope vibe!
this fine piece of work is killing me. with tears and love.
Their new album Classics is wonderful. Every song is just so beautifully done. I could lie on the floor and listen to it all day.
What a great song, and such a clever video. I like the haunting quality of Ms. Deschanel's voice. Really draws me in.
I met her sister Emily(from the show Bones) and told her I loved She and Him and she said WOW you know your music! I said I liked her style!
Pat Capp lucky you!!!
I am so very jealous of you
I'm a military boyfriend and you have no idea how hard this video hits. My girl and I get only so much interaction. Letters and Sunday phone calls only do so much. I miss her so much. You don't understand love until you have given your soul to another.
I like that guitar, I have one in my dorm.

Zooey Deschanel is one of my favorite people ever. I feel like she's straight out of another era and her voice is beautiful. x
I love her so much! Not enough people listen to them!! Awesome!
So talented, Vancouver loves you!!
Shes got a great singing voice, very reminiscent of the era theyre trying to replicate. Never knew Zooey had her own band, kinda cool
didnt know people still make songs like this
cuz there is people that like songs like this
I almost feel like i need a record player to listen to it.
This is a remake of a mid-'60s Dusty Springfield song. However, Zooey and M. Ward give it a different treatment which I really like. And whether and original song or not, this is still really cool!!!
The Bird and The Bee are good too. They have a new album they are trying to release next year I think? :)
Ana Knoles Very good group. You have taste!
can't wait for Classics !
The visuals are so darling
Superb! Has a real retro feel to it, and love that twangy guitar.
This is so talented ! The dance alone !
oh god I can't stop watching this video. They're so original and cool, Zooey is perfect to me I feel like I wanna hug her all the time. Come to Argentina!
That segment in the clouds is so aesthetically pleasing

Bringing classic sounding music back
she's so adorable!
She and Him makes me fall in love with them over n over again with new releases like this. This is too perfect❤️
They make perfect road trip songs
This is far better than most pop music.
Wow this is the first advertisement that was more than 45 seconds I watched all the way through and I'm compelled to do it everytime it pops up. SUCH A Good video. Props She and Him.
It's her century, we're just living in it.

She doesn't get enough recognition.
look how effortlessly she does that high kick at 2:11 underrated singer, songwriter, AND dancer!!
it's a double. stunt double.. the whole sequence is someone else hence her face is always looking away from the camera.
Because she’s that girl…..!!! I love her! As a singer, as an actress, and if i ever met her hopefully as a person too :)
I don't understand why this video doesn't have more likes! It's amazing
kinda has a retro old fashioned vibe going on here! really cool!
I'd love to see a "making of" video of this.
Congratulations. I can't stop seeing. It's highclass
Oh it's magical, as always...love, love, love this duo so much!
while there's people writing this kind of perfect songs i have faith in humanity
I love her dress, it's beautiful. Just like them
Such a terrific song and video. Zooey has a wonderful voice and she is so classy and beautiful. Totally love this song
awesome concept!
This is so lovely. I've always been captivated by her unique style.
Finally, after 9 years, I find out about this beautiful song and music video. This is the first time I've heard this, it's never too late..
ZOOEY HAS A GREAT VOICE FOR THESE TYPES OF SONGS. I LIKE THE WAY THEY COVER CLASSIC SONGS LIKE THIS ONE AND MANY OTHERS
beautiful song&music video ! I love their music ♥
Ive been watching this for about 9x now. Very clever concept. Cool, simple, clean.
Great cover, lovely video! She & Him is a delight!
Damm please don't get old!!!
Stay awhile, let me hold you
Stay awhile til I've told you, oh
Of the love that I feel tonight, oh yeah!
Stay awhile, whats your hurry?
Stay awhile cause I worry, oh
Any time that you're out of sight
I hate to see you go
I tell you what I'll do, I'll be good to you
I'll make you glad that you are mine
So come on baby
Treat me right, must you run now?
For the nights just begun now, oh
Honey please, wont you stay awhile with me?
I hate to see you go
I tell you what I'll do, I'll be good to you
I'll make you glad that you are mine
So come on baby
Treat me right, must you run now?
For the nights just begun now, oh
Honey please, wont you stay awhile with me?
So, Honey please, wont you stay awhile with me?
Oh yeah, Honey please, wont you stay awhile with me?
Oh yeah!
My Mom and Dad split in the seventies and this vid has helped me connect to Mom then. Well done. I miss her a bit more, your jerks.
60s inspired. love it!
I love this! This is the type of classic music That this generation needs to hear!
Goddamn Zooey has a great voice...
Really great cover. The opening has a flavor of Chris Isaak. I like it a lot. And the video is super.
I could hear to this all night.
I am not a really a huge fan of the music of She and Him, but I love their style and their perfection as a couple, and that zooey is always so zooey, with her dresses and her cuteness. And the idea of he video is cool. Keep it up guys. You're rare and rare is good.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤....is all that should be associated with this song!!!!!!
Accidently clicked on an ad for this...so glad i did
I swear if she had been around in the 60s she would have slayed any woman in the country scene
Can we see the making of this? It's just.... Amazing!
vimeo.com/114867054 here you go
I've listened this for a few days and I'm in love. I've always loved Zooey but I never saw this face of her, and I Love It.
I too, hope to master the air guitar as well as this gentleman. Maybe one day.
She’s magic
I love Zooey Deschanel since New Girl (only because I didn't know who she was when I was little and Elf came out). Some of their guitar actually reminds me of the Jesus and Mary Chain and others, which is cool.
I love the reverse in the guitars and her vocals, reminds me of alot of shoegaze stuff
Zooey is so sweet, what terrific video.
If only they still built or decorated houses like that its so Cool Looking.
Por lejos el mejor vídeo de She & Him!!!!!
Zooey baila hermosamente bien y M. Ward es genial incluso con guitarras de aire!!!!!!
Los esperamos con alguna gira latinoamericana!!!!!
0:57 makes me remember *uptown girl*
man is there anything this woman can't do, it's impossible to hate Zooey if you hate her we can't be friends, i can never get over how stunning and adorable she is
Okay now that is trippy
when he sets down the nonexistent guitar you can see its shadow
on the wall lol
I love their songs greetings from Argentina
El vídeo es increíble, la canción preciosa... resultado: una pequeña joya para conservar!!!
The video is incredible. The song is unique...result: a small joy to conserve
I hope I translated that right DX
This is so lovely.... Zooey looks so elegant ♥
For anyone unaware, this song is actually by Dusty Springfield, and was released in the 1960s :)
Loved seeing Zooey's dancing skills! Listening to the Christmas record on repeat lately!
