I have the Brass Crimson CXL, my most recent purchase and they fast became my favorite GS boots. I have multiple pairs but have had to sell a few. I have sold all my diesel boots that had rubber soles, that sole just didn't work for me. I always felt like i was flat footed and my foot would slap down flat with each step. I now only have leather soles and the lug sole. I absolutely love the lug soles. Great review!
2.5 years into the Diesel in Crimson and have a Natural Waxy Commander pair of Brass Boots on the way. Glad to find this review and looking forward to seeing how they compare!
I own both in shell cordovan. I use the brass boot the most. But the reason I suspect is that in 10,5 E in both, the brass boot fits the best. The leo last is smaller. I am not sure what my nest size will be in the diesel boot, maybe 11 d or e? The length is the issue.
The raised treads on the sole of the Brass boot will have less surface area touching the ground compared to the sole on the Diesel boot. Won't this affect traction?
Hello again, I think that the Dune boots are going to be my next pick up. Had also considered the Dark Olive with the lug sole. However, these are perfect for jeans and khakis. Going to pull the trigger during the next sale event. Thanks for your content...subscribed!
The Ottawa is next on my list too. A pair of the Edwards cut in the line though since Grant Stone discontinued the leather/suede model I had been watching and put them on sale for an extra 20% off for the recent holiday.
I have the Brass boots in dark burgundy kudu and the Diesels in natural Chromexcel. I can’t say that I have a preference between the two. If I had to have a preference, I guess I’d pick the Brass boots. They’re a bit more rough and tumble.
I have Brass boots in jungle kangaroo and Diesels in Crimson CXL. No dought the Diesels are a little more versatile but I prefer the way the Brass boots feel. Maybe it’s the extra volume or maybe it’s the suppleness of the kangaroo. I also feel like the green kangaroo gives the Brass boots the edge in cool factor.
I skipped around a bit…did he mention if he wore the same size in both pairs? I wear 11D in the diesel (perfect fit), and I want to get a pair of the Brass Boot (except I want the wedge sole, which is the same last as the one in the video).
I have both and I think I prefer the Brass boot between the two, but my opinion is based on the fact that both are a half size too small. They were my first two pairs of Grant Stone and some of the first GYW boots I had bought so I hadn't quite figured out my sizing. My Diesel boots are ok with thinner socks but I'm usually ready to get them off by the end of day. The Brass boot is more roomy and forgiving but I find the footbed a little stiff probably due to the heavy lug outsole. I just picked up a pair of Grant Stone Edward boots (also on the Leo last) in Loden Suede from the Labor Day sale and in the correct size this time. I've been wearing them to the office the last few days and I keep thinking to myself that they might be the most comfortable pair of boots in my collection.

Thanks so much! The Brass Crimson CXL is such a great boot. I wear mine a lot.
Someone would have to wear the boots with the studded outsole daily for several months before the sole would be compromised or seams became to frayed

Great choice of leathers on those!

The Brass is a really great fit. I like how roomy it is.

Great question. So far, the lug soles have treated me well in winter conditions.
Thanks for the share. My very 1st GS Brass boots Mohawk suede. Solid built but definitely agree with those skinny laces haha.

Thanks so much! I really like mine. I keep shoe trees in them and they help keep creasing down, and the natural CXL takes on an amazing patina.
Great comparison, thank you for sharing 🙂👍
Thanks so much!
I never pay attention to laces…I immediately replace all stock laces with Pisgah laces
Those look pretty nice 👍
I have Edward and Brass, I wear the Edward more but it’s really hard to go wrong with anything Grant Stone.
Very true!
I have both models and prefer (wear more often) the Diesel. My next Grant Stone I think will be an Ottawa model.

I prefer my Brass boots to my Diesels as the lug sole seems more comfortable. I really like my Diesels and wish they would offer more with a lug sole.
For sure. Those Natural Waxed Commanders should look good though!

They definitely are. 👍
Diesel and brass boot surrounded by fallen enemies “so it’s come down to this”
It HAD to be. 😁

Green is definitely a cool color for boots! Agreed!

The lasts size the same for the most part, Floyd just has more height in the toe box

Those Edwards look fantastic in loden!
It's one of those colors that seems to shift with the lighting. Gray, brown, olive.
Every time I wear my loden suede Edward boots, I think, "Man, these feel like slippers, they're so comfortable!"
I wish beyond logic that they produce a plain toe Brass Boot, love the look and feel just not really into the moc toe stitchin.
“I wish beyond logic.” I am now stealing that phrase. 😅
I was checking out the website recently and I saw a new addition called the Baroda. It's a Floyd lasted boot with a plain toe
