The writers of this show were geniuses. Reverse engineer a situation, expound on it/embellish... Not trying to take anything away from the process, but they were masters.

That said, there's a fine line between asserting yourself and just being rude and unfairly assumptive, which it appears this woman was being. I can think of several ways in which she could have communicated the exact same information without coming off so rudely. The doctor was already being cooperative, usually that kind of pettiness is reserved for the doctors that don't seem to care much at all. There are ways to insist that a doctor order a test you want done that doesn't involve assuming they're trying to rush you out of the office or threatening them. Misdiagnosed patients aren't always the result of malevolent malpractice, sometimes they're the simple mistakes of well intentioned people that spent years of their life studying and going into debt paying for degrees to even _qualify_ for a position in a hospital, because they earnestly believe in helping people. Yes, you have to speak up for yourself ultimately because it's *your* health, but you can also rest assured that a _lot_ of the people that you see attending to patients in real hospitals are doing so because they actually care just as much about you as you do. For her (or anyone else) to assume otherwise is incredibly unfair, because it's really not that black and white. I'm not saying what she should have done, I'm just saying that she came off as combative from the jump before anyone had a chance to say two words to her, and for no particular reason either. Foreman wasn't even the one who made the mistake initially, he wasn't in charge of her room assignment, and she was already down his throat about it. It only got more and more petty from there.

Foreman was covering House's clinic duty. If the patient complained to Cuddy, she would call for House. Either House shows up and the patient says this is not him, or Foreman shows up and Cuddy says this is not him. Both ways, House and Foreman get in trouble.

Tbf, doctor's are not right every time, which is completely natural. Plus, Foreman was very dismissive. It's a bad attitude. Benign tumors develop into malignant quite often. And this was a suspected breast cancer, which the studies have shown that it is among the most likely cancers to be hereditary, and the patient on this episode had a cousin who died from it. I have bow legs. My mother was very concerned because I didn't grow out of it. My doctors were very dismissive and even joked about it, saying "unless you're gonna try him at the beauty contest, it's perfectly fine." Guess what, I have progressive knee arthritis because of it. I wake up, and have all sorts of discomfort and pains on my knees for the first two hours, every, single, day.

Sure, you could argue the biopsy is a sensitive measure but Foreman (a qualified professional) exposed why her condition is not what she thinks. Her only reasoning was only hearsay; while her relative did factually died, there just aren't enough details or concrete data to support her rantings about it being the same. Then Foreman is dismissive after the physical- there are no further clues or insights to support her claims. If there was, he would have said biopsy before she could even think of it. But Foreman wasn't being closed minded he did mention future screenings, in the event of persevering symptoms. He wasn't rude, he was just thinking faster than what the patient's mind could. (Uh-oh side effects of working with House. New neural pathways, stronger synapses = BIG BWAIN TIME) Literally busting his balls for being too good at his job. A common occurance for very smart people.
That trick with the steak and salad would not work at the cafeterias I've used: Customers put their own salads together. The cashiers weigh the salads and charge per ounce. On a per ounce basis, the cafeteria salad would cost more than steak. So, a customer trying that would come out behind. Also, the cashier would notice a discrepancy between the weight of the salad and the size.

People with low intellectual capacity get insulted when their irrational demands are not met or they aren't smart enough to understand the explanation of why their demand is irrational in the first place.
Sure, you could argue the biopsy is a sensitive measure but Foreman (a qualified professional) exposed why her condition is not what she thinks. Her only reasoning was only hearsay; while her relative did factually died, there just aren't enough details or concrete data to support her rantings about it being the same. Then Foreman is dismissive after the physical- there are no further clues or insights to support her claims. If there was, he would have said biopsy before she could even think of it.
But Foreman wasn't being closed minded he did mention future screenings, in the event of persevering symptoms. He wasn't rude, he was just thinking faster than what the patient's mind could.

That trick with the steak and salad would not work at the cafeterias I've used: Customers put their own salads together. The cashiers weigh the salads and charge per ounce. On a per ounce basis, the cafeteria salad would cost more than steak. So, a customer trying that would come out behind.
Also, the cashier would notice a discrepancy between the weight of the salad and the size.
