  • 1. 2 of many benefits of “ActiveX Control” compared to “Data Log Models”:
    a. Data logging can start/stop manually by a trigger variable with Active X Control.
    b. “FactoryTalk View File Viewer” is no longer required. Data is saved directly to an excel file (.csv)
    2. DataStore Plus Active X setup
    a. ME DataStore Plus Properties
    b. ME DataStore Plus Properties/FileLocation
    4 HMI tags with 1 for each location that data log will be saved to:
    • DL_Saved_To_PC String Memory C:\RW_ActiveX\DataLog_ActiveX_PC.csv
    • DL_Saved_To_SD String Memory \Storage Card2\DataLog_ActiveX_SD.csv
    • DL_Saved_To_USB String Memory \USB Storage\DataLog_ActiveX_USB.csv
    • DL_Saved_To_HMI String Memory \Windows\Desktop\DL_ACTX\DataLog_ActiveX_HMI.csv
    c. ME DataStore Plus Properties/Triger
    • Data_Log_Run Digital Memory 0
    d. ME DataStore Plus Properties/Tag
    • O2_CONTENT
    • DISCHARGE_PRESSURE
    3. Testing
    a. DL_Saved_To_PC
    b. DL_Saved_To_SD
    c. DL_Saved_To_USB
    d. DL_Saved_To_HMI

    We started using the ActiveX component DataStore Plus about seven years ago. What we found is if you're not on the display with the ActiveX component it won't log the data. We created a separate data storage display and put the DataStore Plus ActiveX component on it and then we chose that screen in Startup. We also changed the display settings so that the display type is On Top and Cannot be replaced. This assures that the DataStore Plus is always running.

      @Tôn Nguyễn: I am not sure how you want to track user's activities. I think data logging is a good way for what you are looking for. For all critical parameters, you can set to collect data every minutes. If something happens, you can trace the collected data for what has been changed. This is the only thing we can offer our customers. Hopefully this answers your question. Thank you for subscribing to my channel.

    • @SYPHOANG

      @David Seay: No, they are not PLC tags. @3:20: in the "Explorer" panel on the left, you will find "Tags" under "HMI tags" where you can create local HMI tags such as "Data_Log_Run" and "DL_Saved_To_SD". This part 3 video is completely separate from part 1 and 2. You do not need to create a data log model and do not need to add anything to "Start up" to start logging data. Hello, Great video. Can DL be saved on the HMI, and then the operator can transfer it over to the USB? What is the proper procedure to create a screen for this? Popup, Ontop, and Cannot be replaced, and what are the coordinates for the popup screen? I would like to be able to hide the screen so it is not blocking the process screen. Thank you very much!

    • @SYPHOANG
      @SYPHOANG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Amonlath Douangvongsa: Yes, DL can be saved to multiple different locations as I showed on the video. However, it is configured in the HMI program. You can do the same. Just create different buttons on your HMI screens with one for each different location you want to save DL to. However, I really don't think you can easily transfer it from local HMI drive to an attached USB unless an operator can exit out of the HMI application and go to the HMI window operating system @13:57

      @@SYPHOANG Sorry for the late response. I am working on a HOT project for a customer and we're on the final stress. I'm still having issues viewing the log.csv from the PanelView plus 7 performance series B. I have contacted Rockwell tech support and have been working on this for a few weeks now. Their HMI department is not the same anymore. I was working with an engineer there for years and he was great. Unfortunately, I don't think he is there anymore. This is supposed to be a very simple process but turns into a major headache. They can't resolve the issue. I have done testing with multiple HMIs, SD cards & USB thumb drives, and tried viewing the file with multiple laptops. PVP is creating files correctly on the USB thumb drive. It works perfectly when running from the PC but not from the HMI. I think there is a firmware issue or bugs on the hardware. We have 12 HMIs in-house and 3/3 failed. This is not possible. I am very frustrated with Rockwell tech support (HMI). The next step is to bring Rockwell to our company and see if they can get them to work. I'm not a member of any engineering groups/forums. I was hoping to see if anyone had a similar issue. This is a fairly new HMI/hardware.

    Great video! Mr Hoang please let me know how to create a csv file in a computer dedicated for logging the file, not the lap that has all programming softwares. Also I would like to create the csv file each cycle machine in each file, currently I can record many cycles of machine in one file and automatically is create a new file every hour.

    • @SYPHOANG
      @SYPHOANG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Alberto Escobar: I do not quite understand your first question "not the lap that has all programming softwares"? This is how ActiveX works. You can use it to tell the HMI to store the captured data to a specified location "File Location". It can be either the HMI internal memory, a USB or your PC. However, you can only give it a location, NOT an existing .csv file on your PC for it to override with the captured data.
      For your second question: Yes, you can create multiple ActiveX, one for each machine data you want to capture and store separately.
      I guess you already know how to make it start a new file every certain time. Just in case you don't know, below is the instruction:
      @1:18 In "ME DataStore Plus Properties", Under "General" tab, you can select "Periodic" and set how often/when you want it to start a new file.

    • @SYPHOANG
      @SYPHOANG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Javier Burgoa: yes, you can easily set it up but you will need to the HMI password to exit to the HMI windows desktop in order to access the file and move it to the USB stick location.
      If you use the below file location, the file will be saved right on the HMI windows desktop.
