I wanted to switch to Linux so much so I waited for about a week waiting for the solution (one guy was developing a program for that issue), my laptop was basically unusable for daily work without a cable connection until then.

Mind you, for Windows 10 20H2, Cortana, and OneDrive have become very difficult to remove. They are getting more and more integrated with into the base OS, so please take care. now go run a Win10 VM with 1gb ram and 1 core, then look at the ram usage and backround processe ( i got max 50 proceses/500mbRam used, and win is usable)
a side note now: write down the processs, then compare them with a bare metal win10, now you know what proceses are not essential for win10 and can get rid of them(if possible)

  • @eyevou

The reason you didn't see a whole lot of improvement on the CPU front is because with so little ram windows scales back the amount of running processes. If you notice you only have 44-50 running before and after using the debloater script. If you're using x64 with 8gb+ of ram you're looking at ~150 processes. Debloater lowers that down to somewhere around 100 processes making default 0-1% on idle from ~2%.

Also consider using enterprise W10 instead of all the various home versions. I use it for gaming, (it's missing some directx stuff) and it idles at about 500Mb less than W10 home. Also, it's likely you'll have to run this debloater after every big update. They'll turn that stuff back on, and they won't even tell you. They'll also detect that it's gone, and send you a mandatory update to reinstall it or to turn it back on. It's really their OS, there's not much you can do. Registry edits don't stick, they detect them and put them back the way they want them. I think the closest thing would be that group has somehow managed to gut windows 10. Use their version, and make sure you get updates from them. Cause iirc they had to rip out the M$ updater cause it would work against them.

It comes with a premade script that does it all all at once, for you. OR you can use the UI (like he shows in the video) and specifically choose what you want changed.
What takes time is looking at what you want to run because it has a thing for the auto, or a thing for the UI. This is a tiny hurdle though.
**As a headsup, You may still have to right click on the taskbar and manually turn off other things you dont want running, by hand. Some of these things wont be affected by the debloater, out of courtesy of the debloat programmer, in case you like these goofy things like weather on your taskbar, or cortana search bar, or "people", etc.
