    Fuel mixture screw is supposed to b spring,washer,and then the o-ring last,or it will cause a air leak.

    I have an 85 200x. The swingarm looks stock just painted and the exhaust looks like a Cobra/Coffman. 4th gear is probably a shift fork. I'd love to see you break it down and rebuild it the 200X's in my area are selling for stupid prices.

    $1050 is a good price for a 200x. They were very popular in the day and the 2 valve engines last a very long time = many of these like yours were ridden alot.

  • @MM_in_Havasu
    @MM_in_Havasu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I always used to set those at 0.004" in and 0'005" ex. A bit more clattery, but primary compression is increased a little bit and heat expansion will still allow decent valve clearance.

    The "Pro Link" was a name Honda used in the 80's-90's for mono shock, you'd see it a lot on road bikes and dirt bikes of the era, just looked fancy at the time, Kawasaki had Uni Track.
    It was a time when bike manufactures would give new things fancy names and leave you scratching your head wondering what they all meant ....TSCC,YDIS,EXUP,YPVS, KIPS, YICS.....good times lol

    I bought a 1985 200x recently thinking it was just needing some work on the engine(new piston and maybe rebore) but once I checked the engine serial# I came to realize it was a 200x frame with a 185 engine swap lol. I started looking around for used 200x engines and found one for super cheap, it’s going to need a lot of work so I’m super glad you just got one too. I’ve been reading older forums and I think I can use whatever parts I need for the 200x engine from my 185 engine, so much to learn on these beasts! Good luck bro, maybe come rip out here in the Oregon dunes with me. You got a spot with the fam for sure

    • @calebwinterbottom196
      @calebwinterbottom196 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh ya I payed 350 for the 185 swapped 200x. And then 100 for the 200x engine which needs a lot of work.

    I am an avid three wheeler collector out in utah and I must say im pretty grateful prices here aren’t as ridiculous as out east. Just this year alone I’ve purchased three 200x’s running good for $800,$900, and $1100. Banshees go for about $3500-$4000 and I’ve seen a couple 350x’s all OEM for $3000-$3500

    Front fender is a Maier 1985-86 honda 250r. Honda 200x is one of the most indestructble atc ever made. But your 4th gear might be a bent shift fork

  • @MrFireline55
    @MrFireline55 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your Kickstarter is probably configured wrong. If you open up the small cover you’ll probably find some alignment marks are not in sync. I can tell by when your kick starter catches. It should catch a bit sooner. Not a big deal quite minor but if you open the clutch cover to examine shift star/shift fork I’d adjust it. Goodluck with transmission. I rebuilt my 84 and now second gear is acting up.

    Good investment. Theres no need to check for compression unless you suspect you dont have it. As soon as you got spark back you can dump some gas down the plug and fire it off.. so that gives you more answers a lot quicker and then can move on to the other issues..

    Easy to way to find top dead center. Get an extra-long coffee straw, place it in the spark plug hole and turn the motor till piston pushes it up and the -T- mark it in the center. Keeps you from finding the -T- when the piston is at the bottom.

  • @alanhatley4944
    @alanhatley4944 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a Honda you can literally unplug the kill switch and it should have spark if the cdi isn't toast. All the kill switch does is ground out the cdi box and kill the fire. Almost all Chinese quads wire the same way since they use Honda clones. I've actually used a Chinese cdi to run a Honda TRX 125. Worked perfect. Even the Honda rebel 250s are wired this way. Unplug the ignition switch roll it pop the clutch and it'll fire.

    • @alanhatley4944
      @alanhatley4944 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also use to ride my brother's xr70 just by unplugging the switch when he would take the key. Honda didn't do the best job of security when it came to that stuff once you realize it's just a black or black and white wire that can be unplugged and it'll fire with out the key and the kill switch on the off position. Lmao

    My 200X likes to start with, No throttle, set to full choke, kick until it fires , then set to half choke kick it will run, then I will give slight throttle to speed rpm's, then I will open choke fully, after about 1 min. I can blip throttle rev it up. Mine does not like throttle at 1st start. After its warm I can re-start it easily just kick and go.

  • @IrnMaiden304
    @IrnMaiden304 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    And that's why the kicker gears were always messed up, people just kicking the ever loving sh!t out of it. The CDI unit, the pin in the cam would wear out and you'd lose them either taking it apart or it would come out on it's own. 2nd and 5th gear would get broken from people jumping them and the busted teeth would be floating around in there, you knew they were jumped cause of how bent down the pegs would be. They are a load of fun to ride, absolutely without doubt, if you want to see what these things would endure you've got to check out the old racing video's. The 1986 200x was the only one with 6 gears, you think these are becoming unicorns try finding an 86. This makes we wish I held onto mine along with my 82 185S and my YT175

    Gear going to neutral is typically the walls of one of the shift forks worn off. Do yourself a favor and replace all the forks.

    It seems like the kicker is catching low and that's why it was hard to start. Like some of the kicker gear is messed up.
