I can't concieve human civilisation without phone. But the truth is that some people get upset if others are rude on the phone call. it is important to be more polite on the phone than face to face conversation. Thanks for this podcast
BBC Learning English 1 week ago Great question! Actually, Sam is more grammatically "correct" here. When talking about wishes, the 'proper' way is to say "I wish I were...". However, it is very common for people to say "I wish I was" and you are likely to hear many people phrase it this way. For a good example of this, you can check out the Skee-lo song - "I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller" from bbc
Nil said'' I wish i was as half as knowledge... '' but Sam said '' I were as quarter as ...'' so what is different between was and were at these two sentences.

Hello BBC learning English. I love your pop cast and education things indeed. I've been learning English through your videos. Btw the thing is how can i improve speaking skills. Can i do shawdowing with ur radio or something like that..? I don't know how to learn and improve English speaking skill. Can i get a tip to learn English speaking skill please. Thank you
Lots of people find it useful to copy the things they hear in films, TV shows, TH-cam videos or podcasts. Pausing the video after you hear phrases or words you find interesting and repeating them is a good way to practise pronunciation. Another way that students have told us is beneficial is to practise conversations in your head - so, while watching one of our videos, you might want to start thinking about what you would say if you were here with us. Think about how you would phrase it and the things you would say... Are there any other English language learners out there who can share some tips that they found useful with improving their speaking with @Dublin Banana? And, of course, you can always check our speaking playlists to find lots of interesting new vocabulary and phrases...th-cam.com/video/V19Yno6Md_g/w-d-xo.html
can anyone tell me please what's the difference between "i wish i was half as knowledgeable as he is" , "i wish i were quarter as knowledgeable" ( 0:34 ) ??? how can "was" comes after "I wish I " ??

Linguistic means relating to language. So, when they say that Stephen Fry is very knowledgable about linguistics, we mean that he knows a lot about language. Does that help answer your question?

It's not fair to classify people. We're all human beings, aren't we?
It’s that person’s own problem that he starts judging people when he is talking to others. Why blame telephones?
