I just purchased a Hardox 500 wearplate can I use a 7018 electrode welding. Do i still have to preheat the welding surface and the surroundings. We usually work in an average weather temperature of 40 degrees celsius. We are going to weld a hardox 500 wear plate with an ESCO Steel bucket.... thanks.

Thank you Enrique for your question! In order to give the answer, we would need to know the exact plate thickness. Please contact our tech support at +46 155 255 006 for further help. Thanks!

It's called Tastotherm D700, and the cost is about 450-500 SEK.

what should be pre-heating temperature for heat treated parts (40 - 43 HRC).
    material thickness 7.1 mm thick

Hi: I plan to get some SSAB Strenx 1100 high strength steel sheet (1.2 or 1.4mm thick) to repair my car. I read the welding instruction, which seems to require ER120S1 rod to work with a TIG welder. Since it's going be thin metal sheet welding, do I steel need to pre-heat it or room temperature will be enough? Also, in your document it says ER120X, is that same as ER120S1?
