Honestly for the BV I’ve always swapped out the mrm30 for two MML7 launchers. It gives you some better ranged punch and roughly the same damage in short range without spiking the BV through the roof
I've never really liked the Quickdraw, as it seemed like it was under gunned and under armored. That movement mod is worth it though. That seems to make all the difference. Interesting.
I have a Quicky in my collection. Its a good mech for light lances that are under 160 tons for DCMS. As the regular flavor for DCMS lances like to void the use of medium mechs. I normally consider running the mech with a Jenner with a side option of running smoke rounds for the SRM-4's. The 8K is ok and is best served with a 2/4 pilot at 2438 BV. When considering MRM's the +1 to hit is really nasty for many players as the performa from the MRM would be that of a 4/4 pilot when the pilot is 3/4. I have a good opinion of the Quckdraw but often consider it a medium mech more than a heavy.
I love your Battlytics vids. Please do more. There's only 15 in the playlist for the last 12 months. There's 21 in the previous year. Is the playlist missing some of them?
OK that survivability rating really surprised me. Interesting mech, but personally I feel like I would struggle actually playing one in game. Thanks for the review.
Very surprised at how well this one did. Quickdraws usually provoke a disappointed shrug from me. And mechs relying on MRMs are usually the same (one group I played in house-ruled away the +1 penalty. And still, almost nobody played them). Good to see that this variant is better than I reckoned.
This is not my favourite version of the reliable Quickdraw, but it tends to be one of those unoptimized designs that BT does so well sometimes. It's flawed, it tries to do too much, and it's perfect. Quickdraw is the kind of mech you'd find everywhere because it can do some of everything.
This is a more interesting configuration of a Quickdraw. It definitely resonates where this mech lives as an opportunist brawler. Being just fast enough to be hard to hit and just big enough to be dangerous. Not a stone-cold killer but if you make the opponent spend time going after a 1583pt mech and not something bigger that is worth while.
I think the only thing I would do to change this 'mech would be to swap the torso ER Mediums to regular Mediums just to bring the heat down a tiny bit in mid and short range fights where you're just face rolling your weapon buttons.
Pull the MRM 30 and ammo, add an ER Large laser, 2 tons of armor and more DHS. This mech was dangerous because it could fire constantly with something and move. It worked. This is a version that relies to much on luck.
Does the algorithm take into account the fact that some mechs don't have weapons that reach to the starting range of the Javelin? The Time to Kill could be adjusted to when it comes under fire from the longest ranged weapon whatever mech you're testing possesses.
Starting this video, the first question must be: will this variant actually be a not-terrible Quickdraw? I have my doubts... Having watched the video, I think I can safely say it's at best mediocre. I'm not a fan of MRMs (outside of MWO, where they're incredibly nasty). Maybe if they'd put a couple MMLs on there instead, so that it could plink away at range and then smash stuff close in. I also wonder how much a LFE with some CASE2 and extra armor would have impacted the survivability.
I HATED the Quickdraw in the original era. Fun to see it performing respectably in the 3060s. Maybe it never performed for me because I never take high gunnery on my mechwarriors.
I want to love the quickdraw so much, and this is the best variant I’ve seen, but it’s just so “meh” to me. It’s not that it’s a poorly designed mech, I love the lancelot, it’s just something about it. I don’t love the aesthetics, and I don’t love the concept or the loadout. But I will get one for house Kurita!
This thing comes with a C3 slave yeh ? I'm hearing you about the gunnery sensitivity on a non Apollo MRM launcher sans C3 network .......... Put MRM in a C3 network though and prepare for tears .......... The Blakemondo with two MRM 40s is especially hilarious
MRMs just feel so overvalued by BV man. Ill watch and see if i eat my words with this thing being inefficient lol. Edit: Damn its about on par with good Succession Wars Mechs, genuinely better than expected.
@NF-nv3xw that’s fair - I think my order of pref is basics first… the pulse kill me because of the range and tonnage. 1 ton or more range - give me one!
Quickdraw is one of my favorite niche mechs to bring out to the table, especially in succ wars era, with the 4H, it's a mech similar to the Wolverine 6R, meant to survive and do enough damage to be a problem, and no one is going to call a twelve damage kick or two six damage punches a bad idea :)
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming see that's got me worried. I hear tge sti trans are actually strong. Now if you said head gasket or wrx trans I'd be like sweet that's the next video
Ah one of the three decent variants of the Quickdraw. God does the Quickdraw suck. It has the distinction of being the third worst refit in TRO 3050 (original or upgrade), and even in 3025 suffers from trying to be a faster Grasshopper but with rear mounted guns. At least the 2018 Battletech game got it right by pointing the guns forward...
Any mech with an mrm in it is complete crap but scales with gunnery like you wouldn't believe. If youre playing with SPAs in megamek this thing rips. Put a 2/3 in there with cluster hitter and you will bounce around the map popping vehicles like pimples.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming lol, ty for making battlytics its been my favorite battletech series on TH-cam since it started! If you are looking for any recommendations a head to head comparison between the atlas and the akuma would be awesome

Interesting! I like that comparo - you may see that custom on the channel some day
I've just painted up a Quickdraw, let's see how it holds up in the IlClan era! 🐺
You should do the same thing you did with the Urbanmech -- compare several variants of the same 'Mech, and see what happens.
The Quickdraw. Both Thom's most favorite mech and Thom's wife's least favorite mech.
I always loved the QKD in the 3025 era, it is nice to see that some of the updated versions keep it relevant. Excellent video as always, gentlemen!
Thanks for watching!
Quickdraw and wolverine, backed up by a griffin and dervish. That's a lit cavalry Lance imo, especially in mountainous terrain.
I've never really liked the Quickdraw, as it seemed like it was under gunned and under armored. That movement mod is worth it though. That seems to make all the difference. Interesting.
Well made video. It's so critical to learn how to play this mech before you put it on the table.
Thanks for watching!

I will take a look! Unfortunately it’s a manual process to add them so sometimes the playlists do fall behind.
Go easy on him, these vids take time to produce. Quality Over Quantity

I think “right range good pilot” helps tremendously with MRMs. I do wish they were better!

The quickdraw is quintessential BattleTech!! What is your favorite var?

#protips totally agree!!
Great video! Looking forward to more videos.
Great video, thank you for the time and efforts.
Appreciate your viewership!
How did the Quickdraw fair? I keep blacking out from the ecstasy of hearing him mention the Bushwacker.
LOL
I'd like to see an ilClan Era Quickdraw , add some endo , CASE II , double heat sinks , ER mediums , Enhanced LRM , a Streak SRM and a tad more armour
Now we’re talking!!
I think the only thing I would do to change this 'mech would be to swap the torso ER Mediums to regular Mediums just to bring the heat down a tiny bit in mid and short range fights where you're just face rolling your weapon buttons.
Agree - the IS erMLas are mediocre. The regular MLas is king.

Isn't there something like an Apollo FCS for MRM systems to help their chances of hitting?
Yes! But it reduces your cluster roll.
There's C3 too , pretty sure this should have a C3 slave
@@mathewkelly9968 sure, but C3 slows the whole game down as you effectively have to do range and LOS twice for every shot.
12:19 survivability should be all right , how many mechs sport 8 tons of armour and pretty much a +3 modifier ......... Not alot
It’s a good point!

2mpls instead of ermeds would make the mech so much better.
Ooo controversial! You prefer IS pulse weapons over er? I want to know more.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming ermeds are too toasty even for the IS variants. So I rather go with pulses or the outright basic lasers.
