Glad you liked it but sad to see some thumbs down in the comments. At the very least, it is really rare for you relisten to to parts of the track within the vid 😮…. I like her plain voice just like Vienna Teng - I think some of the negative comments might be people not looking for a plain voice
I had her album Solitude Standing back in the day and my favorite song on it was Night Vision. I never did check out any of her other stuff--this was good.
One of my two Sisters had also had the 'Solitude Standing' album, at the time 'Luka' was a Hit, and the title song has always been my favourite Suzanne Vega song. But apart from maybe a couple other songs, that's also so far been all I've know from her repertoire 😅 So now I'm in the process of watching/listening to all of J-Pan's SV reactions he's done so far and like all of those songs so far, too! 😊👍
Hard no from me. I've never been a fan of her flat singing style, and when she reaches for the high notes the pitch is on the verge of dog howl territory for me. But the 80's was a tough time for singer-songwriter folk -- which didn't really revive til the 90's -- so anyone making a go of it then has my respect.
I never got her. I was in radio in the 80's and A&M were trying to bring folk music back to radio with Solitude Standing and the single Luka, which I hated. Her voice is wispy and flat and the highly promoted single Luka is some kind of manifesto on child neglect okay but what are we supposed to do about it? seems it was all downhill after that, as a singer/ songwriter she ranks pretty low with me. Tedious.
Very nice.
Her music has such a great vibe and there is so much thought that goes into the musical arrangements. Plus, such a pure voice.
First time hearing this. Caught me by surprise. Liked it.
I always had a soft spot for SV. Very simple clean uniquely structured tunes. Left of Center is really cool.
Great song indeed! 😍 'Solitude Standing' is also pretty good 🙂
Superb album, superb vocals, superb guitar sound, superb writing, I love this album. Superb superb superb how many superbs 😅😅🤘🤘
I can feel some jazz fusion vibes here a'la Pat Metheny Group... real nice switch and melody with that subtle groove switch..

I really like this album, and this song is one of my favourites from it. I like Genesis' _Undertow_ too, but I think this is my favourite of the two.

If you want to dive back into her, i would check out Songs in Red and Grey first
