Wow! This is awesome! I’m really happy that you finally found a solution to the micro stuttering experience you had! I’m glad the video helped you out! Congrats on the smooth, stutter free gaming experience! Enjoy the games! 😊
@J M I have the same board..... is everything super smooth then all of a sudden it freezes and you get the "BZZZZZZZZ" noise for like 2 seconds? Mine does this maybe 3 times a day and i've tried everything to fix it. It doesn't affect me but i notice it happen is all and just worry it's fucking up my fairly new rig.

I'm glad i was patient enough to watch the whole video and followed the guide step by step. Thanks a lot man you really helped me!!! Liked & Subscribed.
This was all fannnnntastic. Side note, I don't think you mentioned this but I just found out that slideshow desktop backgrounds can cause stuttering in some games (WoW for example).
Just finished the video, followed every step. Thank you so much! My annoying micro stutter is finally gone, and i can enjoy my games after months of frustration. It seems windows 10 is not the best for gaming, I never had this many problems on windows 7... I really want Windows to come out with an Operating system solely for gaming.
Wow! I have a RTX 3080 and i7-8700K and was still having brief stuttering with my modded Skyrim VR. Tried so many things and then followed this video and it's noticeably improved. Did it solve every FPS loss in the game or CPU spike? No. But it got rid of some of the random CPU stuttering I was getting! Thank you so much! I don't know which change made the biggest difference but it added up to an improvement.
IT WORKS! THANKS MATE! I didn't do all the tweaks that you showed as I'm a bit skeptic about a few. But, Dynamic Tick commands alone fixed micro stuttering for me. NICE!
I applied most of the settings and I manage to get my windows 11 Pro 23H2 - average measured interrupt to process latency from 10us to 2us -average measured interrupt to DPC latency from 4us to 1.2us. Believe the memoryusage 2 was the key change as I had not done it yet. Great video still after 4 years thank you good sir !
I spent months believing the problem was with the monitor, gpu or cpu but then I found your video and followed your lead, the stuttering is gone and the performance in games has increased .... you are my savior , I subscribed to your channel, thank you very much from Italy.

I spent about 20 hours over 3 days trying to solve my new laptop's microstutter issue. Finally found this video, followed the steps from the first 9 mins of it and now my laptop is super responsive, plays games great and working how I expected it to when I bought it! Phew, was almost ready to give up, return it or possibly try to diagnose a hardware issue. Thank you! Liked and subscirbed!
Halfway through the video the stutter stopped. My mouse was laggy, the display would freeze for a milisecond or two and the audio would strecth out to cover for it. We'll see if this solution lasts. Thanks for the video. -Update: It didn't fix the problem, the stuttering came back the next day. I switched to Linux and the stutter stopped. I can't be bothered to configure every single program I wish to use, so I'll give windows a second chance. Hopefully it works as intended this time.
ill be damned... this worked...after months and months of hunting issues, some combination of settings here finally did it. Im using CapFrameX to monitor stutter before and after. Peak frametimes were ~800ms, now im barely breaking 30ms. One small side effect.... some of my windows ui effects/features are broken....a small price to pay EDIT: I'm an idiot.... @5:48 is one feature ill be leaving on.... that is all it was Thank you! I always appreciate a no BS detailed run through, especially when it actually leads to a solution!
Sir, you'r a Genius ! I got a idle cpu now like i had in win 7 ! 0%-2% idle! Thank you so much for this ! Edit : Now it's to silent in my room, it's a bit spooky lol
Thank you man, I appreciate it. It should help with any Windows unless latency tools like Latency Mon breaks. I totally agree this is great for anyone!
Thanks, mate! I have had a problem with stutters for half a year. I searched almost the entire Internet to get rid of the problem, I bought a new pc where it was similar. Thanks to your video, I can finally enjoy a smooth game. I wish I were your friend because I would like to have a beer with you. Great tutorial, nvidia should have it on its homepage. Thanks again. greetings
I can't believe this really worked I played cod cold war with ultra textures high AA and 1080p on 1060 6GB vram and Intel core i7 4770k everything worked fine until for 5 days it always stuttered even on low setting and on other games like doom 2018 and dmc5 now everything works GIVE IT A TRY!!!
THANKS, I can play Dota and csgo at 120fps constant. Before i do this, my fps dropped below 60 but my laptop was strong enough to play it. U fixed almost my stuttering problems. Well, it still stuttering while i play apex and Gta V. But not as much before i do this fix. THANKS AGAIN
This video should be praised more and more. I had stuttering as soon as I started the PC, even the file explorer was having stutters and the pc was a bit slow in every aspect. Plus, there was micro stuttering even in a game from 2011! The FPS rate in games were also much lower lately. For example after the stuttering started, I started to get an average of 90 FPS in Rocket League. After these steps solved my issue, the FPS in RL got back to normal, which was 180 FPS in average. I have 8 gb of ram so I stopped doing the other commands from the point 12:46. Still applying the settings solved the stuttering and any other issues for me. I think the powershell commands are very important.
You Sir are a legend, been trying to figure this out for weeks. been suffering with stuttering and ghosting, stuttering is fixed and thats a big thankyou :D
My whole pc just stutters, no idea why, you can see it with the cursor and when it comes to videos and games its like you're pressing pause n play constantly

Thank you! Yeah, they're a little long especially the older vids. When I make them too fast, I get called out. Still trying to find the right balance. :)
I followed the instructions to the letter and my latency increased (by about 50%) instead of decrease. I could not find COMPNAME Performance in LGP, don't know why. Also not clear if Large Page Utility has to remain active or if I can close it. But it does boot much faster and in games where I previously had some slight stutter it seems to have gone. So it DID help me after all. Thanks for the video!
@Jeremias Shortly after posting my previous comment the micro stuttering during gaming appeared again. So this video did not really help that much, except the faster boot up. About a year ago I still used an AMD card but I had removed all drivers and programs manually before installing my new Nvidia 2080S GPU. I suspected something AMD might still be left on my system without me knowing so I used DDU (display driver utility) and it did find dome AMD remnants on my system and/or registry. And that solved the problem for good. But I am glad some YT-ers take the time and effort to make a video like this, a lot of people may benefit from it.
Sir, the fix it awesome, I was facing a split sec of unresponsive-ness, cursor drag on my acer laptop(R5-3550H,8Gb, 256gb nvme, 4gb, Rx560x, 1tb hdd). The fix solved it mostly but im still facing that diaplay unresponsive-ness, its like if any app is open it will randomly refreshes (window is there but it will go blank and then appear instantly) please help me with this. My laptop is barely 5 months old. I followed every steps as mentioned except the page file command.
I learnt a lot of things following every step of this tutorial but I still have stuttering in F1 2020. At this point I'm considering reinstalling Windows as I feel like I've tried everything.
Dam this actually worked. I thought i had my system optimized to the max but apparently not. Im gonna post this video in a guide for dont starve together. Should get you some more subs thank you.
Does turning off notifications and background apps make a big difference? I find these features to be quite useful but if they make a significant difference in terms of micro-stutters I might have to turn them off regardless.
Was getting micro lags and stutters every few seconds and couldn't find any solution for a very long time. I played a few rounds of BFV and so far it seems to work. Also tried MW2 and there is definately a difference. Thanks a lot man! Btw i am running windows 11 and i skipped the last part and the part with the quick cpu tool. Still a good result so far. I'm gonna test it out more the next days and let u guys know if the issues are really gone completely
hmm. I follow the steps verbatum and re-checked my Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency. The value was almost 3 times higher.. not really sure what to make of that, but seeing as how you said the goal was to get it as low as possible I'm concerned that this guide just wont work for me.
What exactly does bcdedit /set useplatformtick yes do exactly? If this is related to bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes doesn't useplatformtick do nothing? What if disabling dynamic tick helps? Does useplatformtick affect this?
OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR THE TUTORIAL !. The story is i just bought a new gaming laptop with high specs and i think it will run any games with no trouble at all. But when i try pubg it just comes with so many micro lag, i was thinking the laptop that has the trouble from the manufacturer. And after watching this video the micro lag is gone forever. THANKS DUDE FOR SAVING MY GAMING LIFE !
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I have a question regarding your MB BIOS; do you recommend upgrading the X570 BIOS to the latest version? From AGESA 1.0.0.3ABBA onwards, AMD made the CPU more relaxed on desktop. I know many people liked this because it means less voltage and less CPU fan ramping up but I personally stick with AGESA 1.0.0.3ABB because I prefer responsive CPU everywhere.
Do I need to run Large Page Util everytime I run the game? I have added the games on the application and I am just wondering if I should close it or let it run in the background.
After doing this, my Usb takes 1 min to load after every boot. After this minute, they work as normal, but in this time i cant use my microphone and any usb i disconnect will only connect after this one minute. What could be the problem?
This is actually great. Quick question. There is also a tool called intelligent standby memory cleaner. Is that still needed additionally? Or can this be ignored by now? Thank you for the great video again. Much love and stay safe and healthy.
Thanks for posting this, regardless of whether or not it accomplishes anything. For all the billion$ that Microsoft makes, I seriously wonder why in hell they can't just make an operating system that fucking works decently. Windows 10 is supposed to be the "ultimate" Windows, and it still doesn't work for fucking shit.
I had trouble with the first command, I think you said it was something to do with the SSD not being recognized as an SSD, however the last two command prompts work, well it make a noticeable difference to troubleshoot too the point that the first few commands work?
I've got of course improvment in desktop but not in the few games i have little stutters. They're pretty rare but regular and i though it would get rid of it. I really think now it's compatibility issue because 90% of games have no problems and some have stutter don't know why. (Like 1 frame drop every 3 seconds.) Even reducing game graphics to low and lowest resolution don't change anything. BTW, thank you i really learned a lot through your video.
If you've got a NVIDIA driver, you could try setting low latency mode to on instead of ultra. On is the same as the old maximum pre-rendered frames '1' from the 430 series and older drivers. Good to hear you learned from the video! Appreciate the feedback!
@@Davefinito Wow that works !! What's the purpose of this latency setting ? It was disabled by default (global value) when i enabled for the games that have this issue, it all went smooth again. I just don't understand what was the problem can i enable it by default ? or some games have different frame rendering ? I just want to understand to know why i needed to enable this to get rid of it.
Starting with NVIDIA's 442.xx series, they changed it to low latency driver. When it's set to ultra, it will only trigger when you've nearly maxed out your video memory. The default is off. I don't believe anyone has made an app during install to set the profile as such. But you can use an app like profile inspector to save your settings, export and then import if you ever upgrade / reinstall the NVIDIA driver.
Hey bro , I haven't tried any of these settings (yet). But I do have a question : Every time I boot up Windows and for example start Windows Update or launching Steam Client, the system freezes for about 0,1 seconds. It's not an issue per say , but I'm very curious how to fix this ? It's like the system is reading from my NVME drive OR using the network and it's congesting, if you know what I mean ? ANY ideas is appreciated because I haven't found anything about this on the internet... Thanks
Event viewer may be shed some light on this. Latency monitor could display the driver causing the issue as well. I’ve encountered this situation with my 9900k system but couldn’t fully identify the cause. A couple reloads later, the issue didn’t surface and in my case is still a mystery to me.
Thanks for the reply, yes it is happening only once after I start the PC. It's like the system waits for something, dunno what it is. It doesn't affect anything so it's nothing I care about too much anymore. But I really want to know what it is though :)
@@Davefinito ok. Also gpedit is not installing for me. When I install and reboot, and search for it in run or start, it says no such program exists. Also for some reason, my before and after latency is the same. My max being 530 and my avg around 300 to 400 microsec.
Do you know how to fix this? I have a game i wanna launch, but it directly gets suspended (green leaf) then closes. (Some other programs to). Sometimes i have to try and open it like 10 times and then it runs. After closing the game, when i relaunch (or try to), i got the same problem again, it's suspended for 2-5sec and closes. Turning on/off background apps, does not work at all. I've seen a lot of ppl complaining about this, i've tryed all of the suggested solutions, but nothing works at all. I'm 100% sure the game works, and i think that it has to do with UWP (or something like that) and i need to find an option on how to completely remove or turn off the auto app suspend mode. Thx for your time.
I'm not sure I do the commands part. I feel that I could ruin something of the windows in general, do you recommend doing them??? I did only the first steps in the settings

It may have to do with the bcdedit commands. For some configurations you may need to undo the commands. My general recommendation is to try 1 tweak at a time and test it out. If there’s no difference then, you can go back to the original setting.
Hey, I have an Alienware 15 R3 that suffers micro stutters a lot in some games where my FPS would be at like 180 and then down to 70 then back up, does this work for it?
I set the command fsutil set disable last access 1 before listening to you saying for people with less then 8gb memory witch I have(8gb) don't enable this command , what is the command for undoing this , you said in the video you would mention it but but never did and need to undo this thnx in advance and hope to hear back as soon as you can
@@stephennuno4773 disablelastaccess has a fractional performance gain with SSDs, if measurable. It's more noticable with HDDs. The choice is yours if you want to make the change. If you don't see a difference, no harm in reverting back.
will this method can fix display/audio/mouse 2-3 sec stuttering? even I'm not playing games 2-3 sec micro stutter exist. My laptop is ASUS tuf gaming A17
i got a 3060 and while playing 18ms with 280fps. how come my game runs perfectly but i got these insane spikes now and then even tohugh my ms/fps is still good?
Hey dude, really need your help lol I can't stand micro stuttering in every game I've tried on my new laptop. Even when it says it's at 60fps 16ms it's still stuttering. I've followed this guide up until the large page until and the link isn't working. So I can't continue until I get that which is annoying. But I tried the latency monitor test to test if anything has worked so far and nothing has changed. The highest measured latency after 30 seconds is 400 and the highest isr routine got up to 8000 and the highest reported DPC routine was 2000. The isr and and dpc are caused by acpi driver. I'm guessing maybe this is the main cause of the stuttering? How can I fix this? I went to disable and when I rebooted my rtx2070 wasn't working so I enabled again. I just don't know what to do at this point. Ready to send the laptop back to be honest. I bought it so I could game on it but it's horrible
I tried all this and my brand new system is still stuttering. I think it is a little less but never the less still there. How do I narrow down what is causing the issue? Is it the GPU? Can a faulty GPU cause micro stutter? My build is an MSI ACE Z490, Intel i7 10700k, EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC Ultra, Corsiar Vengeance RGB 16Gb 3600Mhz, Corsiar Professional Series™ Gold AX750. Also I am only gaming at 1900x1200 or 1080 so this card should be crushing it, but it is stuttering?
You can start off by looking at latency monitor and check the driver and check the highest utilization. There’s a pattern with the drivers running. If something is randomly spiking in usage, you can catch the driver name and start investigating further.
pls help me, i have just started experiencing micro stuttering but it is not only in games it is the whole laptop for example using apps such as spotify will also make my music micro stutter pls help me if u can i have tried everything
thanks alot for this video. ive followed all the steps and my pc started out at 284ms of latency and it has gone down to about 200ms of latency. i cant seem to get it any lower, my main problem is with micro stuttering across most of my games no matter how high or low the graphics are set to. according to the latency monitor, the dxgkrnl.sys - DirectX Graphics Kernel has the highest ISR time of 246. is there anyway i can fix this?
No worries! One thing that can cause a higher latency with dxgkrnl.sys is if you’re duplicating monitors such as an Intel integrated GPU and a dedicated one or if you are using multi monitor mode with more GPUs active. I can get to 180us with that configuration on 3 systems. What’s your setup like?
@@Davefinito ahh my setup is complicated lol. i have an intel nuc i7hvb hades canyon, with an external gpu; zotac 1660ti. its connected by an akitio node using tb3. my screen is an older 720p tv. ive been having general trouble trying to get everything to display on one screen. when it boots up or i go to bios, it displays to monitor 1...forcing me to unplug the hdmi from the graphics card and plug it into the computers hdmi output. but when i log into the desktop it goes to my tv on monitor 2. on this pc there are 3 graphic devices: intel integrated graphics, vega m gh that comes with the nuc, and the 1660ti which is connected externally. when i disable the first 2 i still get stuttering on almost all games. its really beyond my level of knowledge dealing with computers
Likely it has to do with the multiple GPUs in place plus the Akitio node w/ TB3. If each of the devices are running at diff refresh rates then it could be the multi monitor stutter issue which does get resolved with Windows 10 2004. If running Windows 10 1909 or older you could try setting the refresh rate to the same and see if that resolves. Alternatively, you can leaving 1 device connected then checking the latency monitor app. You should have a starting point then as you add additional devices, you should see the dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel) file increase in utilization and may be able to isolate it there
Hi! This is amazing. I followd this guide and see a serious improvement in smoothness, even higher framerates. However msfs 2020 crashes after a short time playing. Could this be caused by the ram usage setting? I have 16gb on my system.
Glad to hear you’re seeing improvements! I don’t have MSFS 2020 but understand it’s quite intensive - at least from a GPU perspective. I read there is an improvement with 32GB RAM though. You may want to look into it

I’ve seen Windows 10 feature upgrades incorrectly report the refresh rate. Try setting your monitor’s refresh rate to 60hz, apply then change it to 240hz, then apply. That may correct the problem.

-Update:
It didn't fix the problem, the stuttering came back the next day. I switched to Linux and the stutter stopped. I can't be bothered to configure every single program I wish to use, so I'll give windows a second chance. Hopefully it works as intended this time.
did the stuttering stopped?

dude ur a legend this fixed my audio stuttering I was having and seems like I got a bit of a fps boost to in games with ray tracing thanks so much
ill be damned... this worked...after months and months of hunting issues, some combination of settings here finally did it.
Im using CapFrameX to monitor stutter before and after. Peak frametimes were ~800ms, now im barely breaking 30ms.
One small side effect.... some of my windows ui effects/features are broken....a small price to pay
EDIT: I'm an idiot.... @5:48 is one feature ill be leaving on.... that is all it was

@@Davefinito As long as your videos are informative, I won't be bothered if it's too fast or too lengthy. Just want to supportive here. 😊👍
*Superb presentation, and easy to follow (for me at least), job well done*
*I've looked for this long time*

THANKS DUDE FOR SAVING MY GAMING LIFE !
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I have a question regarding your MB BIOS; do you recommend upgrading the X570 BIOS to the latest version?
From AGESA 1.0.0.3ABBA onwards, AMD made the CPU more relaxed on desktop. I know many people liked this because it means less voltage and less CPU fan ramping up but I personally stick with AGESA 1.0.0.3ABB because I prefer responsive CPU everywhere.
Gigabyte totally changed settings in the latest bios. Some settings I’m uncertain. It’s like it was meant for EPYC or threadripper boards.
If you need help with bios settings for performance & latency just let me know
I guess the only question here is: Why doing it if any major update from microsoft can break it at any point?
Thx bro, my stuttering fixed and the fps is increasing too bro

Going to test this out on my system this evening. Thank you!
Thanks, now my Sims 4 is much more smoother than it was before.

I had trouble with the first command, I think you said it was something to do with the SSD not being recognized as an SSD, however the last two command prompts work, well it make a noticeable difference to troubleshoot too the point that the first few commands work?
I've got of course improvment in desktop but not in the few games i have little stutters. They're pretty rare but regular and i though it would get rid of it.
I really think now it's compatibility issue because 90% of games have no problems and some have stutter don't know why. (Like 1 frame drop every 3 seconds.)
Even reducing game graphics to low and lowest resolution don't change anything.
But you can use an app like profile inspector to save your settings, export and then import if you ever upgrade / reinstall the NVIDIA driver.
is disabling HEPT via Device manager and CMD still count?

If something is randomly spiking in usage, you can catch the driver name and start investigating further.

thanks alot for this video. ive followed all the steps and my pc started out at 284ms of latency and it has gone down to about 200ms of latency. i cant seem to get it any lower, my main problem is with micro stuttering across most of my games no matter how high or low the graphics are set to.
according to the latency monitor, the dxgkrnl.sys - DirectX Graphics Kernel has the highest ISR time of 246. is there anyway i can fix this?
You should have a starting point then as you add additional devices, you should see the dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel) file increase in utilization and may be able to isolate it there
holy bleep!!!! you fixed the problem for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! subbed liked and bookemarked for my other windows boxes
