He really loves being a disney princess hahaha. The Taipei zoo is truly world class!! We hope you make it back to Taiwan soon! It's such an incredible little country! I wonder how different it will be now in the post-covid world!
It also brings me joy of every brief clip of him with his hands buried in a street cat’s fur. You guys slip it in so quick haha I’ve definitely been some more roadside zoos in Taiwan which make me more sad. And their aquariums aren’t the greatest in terms of their beluga whales. But the taipei zoo is top notch Hopefully early next year! I’m not sure if it’ll be too different. Maybe slightly more mask wearing, but most people already wore masks due to pollution and just as a general preventive for illness. They went through SARS so while covid was still shocking it wasn’t as great of a shock as it was in the US.
Hahaha, we just love cats!! Oh we did not know they had roadside zoos. I think they are becoming less frequent throughout the world though as people learn how to treat animals. The mask wearing was not too bad! like you said, some people will still choose to, but it is not required in most places! I think they dropped the transit requirement near the end of our visit even!

Dude those butterflies were really digging Princess Alan 😂 I have a crippling fear of heights and when I took one of the crystal cabins earlier this year I was mom's spaghetti the whole ride lol. You did a wonderful job of capturing the Maokong experience, really made me feel like I was back there! That was a pretty authentic tea tasting and Alan did a perfect job explaining all the steps- that is exactly how my dad used to do it for me when I was growing up. Glad you guys enjoyed the tangyuan, those are one of my favorite snacks. You definitely got the peanut filling but if you have a chance to try the ones with black sesame you gotta do it- they are practically life-changing. Y'all are really making me miss Taiwan!
Ahh sorry we somehow didn’t see your comment!! I do now though!! The Alan’s loved him! It was so cute lol. @@IfWeGoTo My parents are from Taiwan but I was born and grew up in the US. Been back to visit Taiwan a few times but honestly I wasn't that interested in my Taiwanese heritage until recently. I had an amazing trip to Taipei and Yilan earlier this year and I'm kind of obsessed with Taiwan now lol. I was having such bad TW withdrawal after the trip and coincidentally found you guys, watching your vlogs has been so therapeutic for me 😄 Huge fan now!
Oh that’s super cool! I’m glad you got to visit and experience it. It’s such an amazing little country! 🥰 We noticed there wasn’t a lot out there on Taiwan/Taipei so we tried to cover it as well as we could!! It makes us seriously so happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed them, thank you so much!! 😃
小籠包 xiao long boa is not necessarily soupy. Some restaurants specifically offer 小籠湯包 xiao long tong bao where tong = broth, soup. Those are normally more soupy than regular xiao long bao.
Such a chill and relaxing vibe, well done guys 😀Editing was on point and you got some great b-roll. Suggest you bump up the levels on your vocals- the quality is muffled in parts but overall quite good, but the levels are a little low especially during the walk-and-talks. No need to push the gain on your mics/audio recorder, but you should be able to lift the levels in editing without even getting close to clipping or blowing out. If you get your vocals to match the levels of your music I think you'll be golden!
Hey!! Thank you so much for the tips, it is super helpful!!! We have been having some problems with our mics.. need to diagnose them!! 😢 do you have any tips for editing audio in post??
@@IfWeGoToUnfortunately it's been almost 15 years since film school and I haven't edited anything myself in a long time 😢 The part I was suggesting was to look at the audio waveforms in your editing software, and raising the levels on your vocal tracks so that the peaks match the peaks of your music tracks- does that make sense? It won't do anything to clear up a muddy recording, or fix anything if your mics are acting up- but it will at least bring your voices to the same level as your music, which will fix the problem of quiet voices and loud music.
@@IfWeGoToAlso- for the sections where you couldn't record good audio and it sounds like you were relying on the onboard mic with lots of background noise- I'm pretty sure there are filters or plugins you can use that are specifically designed to reduce noise and boost vocal frequencies. Sorry I can't recommend anything in particular, all the tech I used to edit with is 15 years old and obsolete lol, but I'm pretty sure you can find tools like that nowadays for free or cheap.
Ohhh yeah yeah. We did mess around with some of the settings but honestly the audio we collected is just bad and I don't think we could come back from it without some seriously good AI or something - we have done some sound correction and added depth using Premiere, but It seems the cords we used are not working as well as they need to be unfortunately and are collecting a lot of strange noise. We will look into some better audio balancing between the voice/music though. We have been relying on our program to make these determinations and usually we don't get feedback about the balance being off, but I think our bad cords have changed this. Though our next few videos will probably (and unfortunately) have this problem, we'll try some new audio balancing! Thanks for pointing out this is a problem!!
@@IfWeGoTo oh no I meant did you do dance or play an instrument growing up? Haha I just thought ur likely to be a dancer or musician if you do an edit like that
@@danzwku ohhhh! Haha I must have misread!! No, we didn’t really - other than when we were kids 😂. I love music though! & Beats are usually pretty easy to pick out, but the wave forms can help if it’s hard to recognize!!
@@IfWeGoTo got it Thank you so much PS:Allow me to recommend a restaurant with a night view named 草山夜未眠 to you and another restaurant named 台北陽明山The Top屋頂上 is also not bad
@@IfWeGoToThey filmed the opening scene in Taipei Zoo with post-editing digitally, so the animals in the opening are in that zoo, including Taiwan black bear and Formosan sika deer, etc. Actually most of that movie was filmed in a pool in Taichung with artificial wave makers, and the meerkat island as well as the final landing beach were filmed in Kenting.
We loooove xiaolongbao!! But to be entirely honest, we didn’t live Din Tai Fungs!! It was good, but we thought their chili wontons were better!! We did find some xiaolongbao in Tainan that were phenomenal though!
That intro tho..😗 *chefs kiss* Good job, guys! Another great video. If those butterflies are attracted to sweat, I'd have the whole damn encloser all over me, with that Taipei humidity . 😂😂 Wish we had been able to stay longer than a few days in Taiwan. You guys are really making us excited to go back. 😊
Hope you make it back soon! Right now we are in the USA, unfortunately we have a close relative having some health struggles right now. So we'll probably be around here for a bit!
@@IfWeGoTo any seafood stir fried... go to the Taipei Fish Market, pick a seafood like fish or clams, shrimps, etc.. and they can cook it for you right then and there.. find a spot to nosh on... Keelung has a squid sausage with raw garlic that is delicious... Taiwan has so many it is hard to pick.. i find the food in the south and smaller villages tastes better ...and cheaper
Oh gosh yes, we very much enjoyed our time there!! We actually did visit a dentist there!! But just to check for a problem. Do you have any recommendations on a good dentist for foreigners!
I love pangolins. To me they don't get enough attention. They are mammals equipped with their own lorica squamata. I think they are at least as awesome as platypuses. I still haven't managed to see one in the wild though. Hopefully one of these days I will have a chance encounter with them when I go hiking. They are called lâ-lí here in the local Taigi language, and qam, HaRem, and qalum in various indigenous Austronesian languages, ultimately from *qaRem in Proto-Austronesian. This word managed to survive in Austronesian languages in Borneo as ahem or ayem. The problem is that since the Philippines was not connected to the rest of Sundaland, nor Taiwan, nor Asian mainland, it didn't have any pangolins. Meaning early Austronesians settlers from Taiwan didn't expand slowly through the Philippines, but expanded fast enough for the word for pangolin to still be fresh in the memories when early settlers in Borneo met one. I always have butterflies landing on me when I go hiking as well. I used to think I too am a Disney princess. Thanks to your video, now I know it'd just because I have BO...
Oh definitely! They are amazing creatures.. I hope they get the attention they deserve! And the little bit of history you shared about them is very interesting - thank you! Do you know where the best are in Taiwan to see them is?? Hahah someone here said that it is good luck to have all of the butterflies land on you - maybe you are lucky too (or maybe it is just BO, who knows! lol)! :D
Hi, I hope you can help. I've been on Google maps for the last hour, trying to find the route to humble house from the tea promotional center but I'm not sure where it is. Can you help? Which road should we walk into (can't find the shrine/landmark too).
Hi!! Yes, I’d be happy to help!! On google the name of the exact tea house is “寒舍茶坊” and the address is No. 6號, Lane 40, Section 3, Zhinan Rd, Wenshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 116. The address may pull up a location called the “Yao Yue Teahouse”! The Humble house and the Yao Yue Teahouse have the same main entrance, you’ll find an archway with red lanterns! Follow the road until a fork, and you’ll go follow the track with the styrofoam sign in our video at 21:27! I hope that helps! If you need any more direction please let me know! Hope you have a great trip! 😃
@@IfWeGoTo I see that, actually found it on google maps, but I think the street view isn't updated, so it doesn't really show me where to go, or where that fork on the road or the tori gate is. T_T
@@ayzprincess ohh it won’t come up on street view because the Humble House set back on a walking path! The drivers with google’s cameras only stick to public roads!! You can see the gate you need to enter from the road at 15:02 in the video though! You’ll walk through that down the path which cars can’t access! So you walk straight down that foot path and there will be a fork in the path, you’ll see two signs. The one at 15:11 in the video, and the one at 21:11. Follow the sign at 21:11!

@nockk_ hopefully you can return for a visit sometime to see more, Taiwan is so so so beautiful and has so many things to do!
Alan is from San Diego and I’m from the Silicon Valley!
@@IfWeGoTo yeah definitely hoping to in the near future! Your vids are a great guide.
Oh wow, that’s cool. I would have guessed Alan was from NorCal and you from SoCal haha
Yayyy! Glad you think so! If you ever need any travel tips don’t hesitate to reach out!!
Hahaha yes, I have a bit of a SoCal accent - not sure where it came from! 😆

Lovely couple, quality content, please enjoy your stay in Taiwan!
Thank you so much! We loved Taiwan!
Dude those butterflies were really digging Princess Alan 😂
I have a crippling fear of heights and when I took one of the crystal cabins earlier this year I was mom's spaghetti the whole ride lol.
Hahaha yeah it was a bit spooky.. but not much worse than the regular car 😂 are you from Taiwan??
And next time we’ll be sure to get the black sesame flavor!!
Thanks for your comment, it means a lot to get awesome ones like yours!!
We noticed there wasn’t a lot out there on Taiwan/Taipei so we tried to cover it as well as we could!! It makes us seriously so happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed them, thank you so much!! 😃
That butterfly scene was really cool. Another great video. Cool series on the districts of Taipei.
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it!! That was our favorite part too!! 😃
That smokey flavor is known as wok hei or breath of the wok -- this can only be achieved with an open flame under the wok.
Ohh I didn’t know that! Thanks for sharing!

小籠包 xiao long boa is not necessarily soupy. Some restaurants specifically offer 小籠湯包 xiao long tong bao where tong = broth, soup. Those are normally more soupy than regular xiao long bao.
Oh we didn’t know that either!! Thanks for sharing your tips!! 😃
Thanks for the video! Love the tea house experience. How far was the walk from the mao kong gondola?
I think it was about a 10 minute walk! It was quite close! :)
Thank you!
Anytime! Happy travels!
23:16 I love when you do edits like this! Did you do music or dance before? I like how it cuts with the rhythm of the music
Haha thank you!! we always film everything before and pick music that kind of works later!!

FYI: the Oscar-winningTaiwanese director, Ang Lee, filmed the opening scene of his movie “Life of Pi” in Taipei Zoo.
Oh we had no idea!!! That’s super cool! I will have to watch it!

We did find some xiaolongbao in Tainan that were phenomenal though!
That intro tho..😗 *chefs kiss*
Good job, guys! Another great video.

You’re very lucky!!
You know what guys,... when in Taiwan, you must have/gorge on fresh all types of seafood!
What seafood would you recommend? Alan doesn’t like seafood, but I do!! Would love to try it sometime!

@@IfWeGoTo I found it!!
Oh fantastic!! I hope you have an amazing trip! If you need any extra help, don't hesitate to reach out! :) @@ayzprincess
